Muted flavor

Hi Guys

Im running a 4/5 wrap 30awg on 500 mesh on a mini DID, about 1.5 ohms. My problem is when I first set it up, the flavor is good. But after half a tank, the flavor becomes muted. By the time the juice runs down to the last quarter tank, I can hardly taste the juice anymore. When I refill, it still tastes muted. I tried varying the voltage but it doesn't seem to have an effect other than tasting burnt.

I noticed this for the past week and have changed coils 3 times but same results. I'm starting to think its my wick. My wick is 500 mesh, about 60mm, rolled tight with no hole. Its been in use with no cleaning for about 10-12 mls.

I really want to love this thing but its not working for me right now. Any ideas?

Are you sure its your setup and not your tastebuds? Try switching flavors when it happens. Taste buds get a real workout vaping so try to switch to a flavor that doesn't use the same ones and also keep drinking lots of liquid as they get dried out and don't work right. I know you've heard that ad nauseum but its true.

Hahaha yes I have no doubt my tastebuds are shot too. But I know this setup leads to muted flavor because I am vaping it and an HH357 atty, same flavor, similar wattage. The Mini DID tastes pretty good the first half tankful but after that its all downhill. By the way, at its best, the mini DID still doesn't taste as good as an HH. Makes me wonder why I dont just stick to HHs instead. So I'm thinking it must be something with the setup.

I notice it happening to me with silica wicks and juices with lots solids dissolved in them. A good dry burn brings the flavor right back. It actually seems to bring it back better than a new setup. Not sure how the mesh setup will do with a dry burn. Have you tried 400 mesh?

not sure if this is it, now i am unsure of the diameter of the wick hole in the a mini did because i do not own one. i do own a reg did. when i first started using the 500 mesh i used to start out with a piece of mesh around 3 inches and the flavor wasnt all that. but now i can use a 4 1/2 inch of mesh to start. i roll it, burn, roll it tighter, burn, roll it tighter, burn. it is super tight. now if you are starting out with a piece at 60mm, which is like 2-1/4 in to start , i think you can roll it tighter. now if the wick hole diameter in the mini did is half the diameter of the reg did, never mind, because that is about the same. but i am comparing apples to oranges here so it may be something else entirely. but at least in my genny, i can tell the difference in taste with a much tighter wick.
