Hmm, I've been staunchly all mechanical for around 3.5 years now, I've never really seen the need (personally) for VV etc. Electronics fail and in most cases that means your mod is dead or needs fixing which is usually beyond the electronics skill of most of us, you don't get the same problem with good mech mods.

The kick is interesting because it's the best of both worlds, I think it is a potential dedicated VV mod killer. When it dies you just pull it out, bin it and buy another for $40 (or whatever) rather than buying a new Darwin or ProVari for quite a bit more.

So I kinda disagree with Emonty, but only insomuch as I see units like the Kick with mech mods as being the future of VV, possibly.

Anyway, I've seen my future and it's Line shaped :p

If you buy a good quality VV mod with warranty you will have no issues and a backup eliminates most headaches.
I have had more issues with those mechanical mods then any of the VV mods I have now, besides they are more or less flashlight tubes with a shiny finish, can make one yourself for $5. The VV is a must for me, same output all the time, no hassling with atties to be the right ohm, just set and forget.....

It's each to their own I suppose mate. I know what you mean about warranty but how long is the warranty on a ProVari? 12 months? On my Super T's it's lifetime and transferable.
If a ProVari dies after 13 months and cannot be fixed it's $160 for a new one? If you're using a Kick it'll be around $40 for a new one and the mod is unaffected.

I don't know if I'm going to be right or wrong on the Kick style inserts in mech mods taking over VV but I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing the death of the mech mod anytime soon.

That I do agree with, with the new battery tech they're trying to perfect now and if they get it right, then Li-Ion batteries will hold around ten times the capacity they do now. Kinda means the battery that powers my P+18350 will only need charging once a week

We'll probably end up going to tiny 10440 devices that will need a battery change every two days and laugh at the 18650 devices..

That's if they get it right though, it's a big if.

thats why i made my own, too broke to buy both lol, im sure performance wise, mine sucks haha

Yours looks eerily similar to the one I just finished today. I can't afford any more $$ on e-cig stuff either - sad, but true.
Didn't someone once say that necessity is the mother of invention?
Still, someday, I want a Line! someday............. someday.. I'll have one - direct from Croatia!!

What did you use as your contacts? Posts pics man! Lol
Here ya go. I was actually able to upload these pix - internet connection out here is sucky.
I use standard 14 Gage copper electrical wire for connectors and the actual atty which I wrap 32AWG Kanthal around. I have here 3 loops in the coil vaping at 4,8 Volts.
It has a 3ML tank and #400 SS mesh for a wick.
The last pic is me vaping it.
Total cost for this little project: $9,- total.
PS - I still want a Line one of these days though!!
*like I said - it's Ghetto. It's GANGSTA. It looks like crap, but hey - it works! LOL*

Hey urquidezj - I scoped out your PB album of this video - it looks like you have sort of light vapour. I'd experiment with both coil number of wraps and also try and make your vapour chamber smaller; you might also want to change your volts up to 5 volts and see what that does. If you have lots of vapour production but a big ... chamber, your not going to get much vapour on the toke. I'm still playing around with mine and it's just trial and error.
And BTW, nice job there! I'm an old war vet with nothing but hand tools. Don't let me in a machine shop - all hell might break loose!!

I feel exactly the same... and as for the question of electronic breakdown, and being without a pv... no way. It's called BACK UPS... first; if you compare vaping to the price we paid for smoking, it's still an initial outlay (stocking your backups) then just juice, and now rebuildables or tons of attys.
Second, with the technology growing, electronics will only get cheaper.
You won't see many high tech pv's over $200.
If you buy a good quality VV mod with warranty you will have no issues and a backup eliminates most headaches.

Thanks will try that, Im using brass as my posts, can't seem to get thick clouds but flavor is good and th is good. More tinkering, I currently only have 3.7 devices, spent all my provari money on line and gtank-us Haha. I might just stack batts and try it at six but I don't know how that would go.

I'm not sure how good brass is for conductive material - I think that it is a mixture of copper and something else. So it should conduct electricity OK. Might want to hit up the "The Puck" thread here on ECF - it gives details on how to build one. I've built 4 so far. Traded one out for some sucky V4L KR808 cartos.
You could also try the 6 volt but know you'd have to have a higher OHMs on the wire and more wraps in your coil. I'm still playing around with mine too - if you can, get a 5 volts (or 4,8 volts, depending on what batts you use) and give it a shot before trying to go with 6 Volts. I got my batt boxes from the local Radio Shack - $2,- apiece. I also use Ni-Mh rechargeables, no Li-On batts for me. Each batt is 1,2 volts, so it's easy to play around with stuff by stacking them...
But you are getting a Line - you probably won't want to get anything else after that!!!
I did mine coz I'm too freaking broke to get in line for a Line, LOL.
