Just found this thread, interesting to hear everyones diverse backgrounds. Guess I should contribute as well...

I am a 32 year old guy, origonally from the Washington DC area. High School drop-out turned computer programmer. Currently on sabatical, living on a yacht and sailing about, obviously I love travel. Currently anchored in Culebra (small island off the coast of Puerto Rico) but have sailed to many countries. Life as a vagabond is good.

Been smoking since about 15, was at 2 packs a day when I got into e-smoking, less then a pack now and going down.

Hmm, since others put in political and religious affiliation, I am agnostic and socialist.

No wife, but have a cat that sails around with me who is less hassle ;)

Well...I'm fairly new at e-smoking and to this forum. I'm 25 and have been smoking for about 7 years. First day today on the E-cig and doing suprisingly well, better than any other cessation method...although some consider it not to be a cessation method, rather, a replacement for traditional smoking.

I'm a Manager at a large Hotel in the Pacific Northwest of the US. I have two children and am happily married.

One thing that is GREAT about esmoking is the fact that there is NO stench! Its great. Anyways, I'm NOT religious, but I am spiritual...If you don't know what I mean, drop me a line...but being spiritual has saved my life many times.

Good luck all my fellow e-smokers!:p

I'm Derek, I'm 36 and apart from 7 months a few years ago I've been smoking since I was 18, so very nearly half my life.

I grew up in Arbroath on the east coast of Scotland, hence my Scottish accent, although I now live in Maidenhead in Berkshire where I'm a software developer.

I'm loving esmoking. My head feels clearer, I can smell and taste things a lot better. I don't stink like I used to. It's great.

In case you're wondering the avatar is Nick Cave.

Jeremy ... You RIDE ?!?!?

So do I ... I've had 3 street bikes in the past 4 years. My most recent, I gave up because of financial difficulties. She was the love of my life. 2007 GSXR 750 ... Black/Charcoal ...

i still miss her everyday .... :(

Sure do and I love it!! Went out riding both days this weekend, put about 300 miles on the SV in the past 2 days. Sorry to hear you had to give up your gixxer, hopefully you will be able to pick up another bike soon. When I upgrade to a super sport the gixxer 750 is the one I really want. They are sweet looking bikes. Until I really learn the ins and outs of riding, I want to get my experience on the SV first...it's a nice bike for beginner riders, and it'll get up and go when it needs to. Here's my bike.. only 1500 miles on it:

Smoking inside without any smoke and reading books where I don't have to turn the page and can download anything I want to read in less than 30 seconds...man technology is wonderful! :D

I just have to share this with my writers' group. Not so long ago, people weren't too keen on e-books, now they're everywhere. My first was actually on a 3.5 disk! Now, like you, I'm e-reading and e-smoking. Who woulda thunk it!

I'm Kristy, 44 , live in the NW US, a full-time mom of 7 - 4 boys, 3 girls (youngest 6 1/2 & oldest 19 1/2).
I've been smoking since I was 9 yrs old! STUPID kid I was!!!!!!!!!!!

Kristy, I'm in your stupid club too. I smoked my first at 9 too. It was so weird because my parents were non smoker, yet I have always been obsessed with cigs. I recall smoking toothpicks and q-tips (YES q-tips) when I was a kid. Then I got my hands on the real thing! Everyone was lightheaded and dizzy. I inhaled...and felt...calm and normal for the first time in my life up to that point. It's so hard to give up.

I was smoking 20 to 40 cigs a day (that was back in March). On occassion, I have 0 to 6 real cigs, right now, trying to go for a full week with only the e-cig.

It's possible we're smoking twins. I smoke a ton as well. can't wait to be able to brag about 6 cigs a day. Congrats, girl! I know what a rough road it is![/quote]

Right, so where to begin?

I'm 34 years old, born and raised in Minnesota. Yes, I have the accent and it gets out once in a while.

I started smoking around age 14 or so, me and a buddy decided to lift a carton of smokes from a store. Yes we were those kids, white trash from the wrong side of the tracks. Thankfully I grew out of it.

Normally, I am a desk jockey tech on the overnight shift... call it a epic case of underachievement. I also DJ online about 6 times a week (99% of the time it's rock). You can listen in whenever you like, I post the where and when on my Twitter account listed in my profile. Otherwise, I work on digital arts and music in my spare time, and game way more than I should, although part of that is working on virtual developments. I am a game fanatic, but mostly PC games. Console games are too closed-ended for me.

Politically, I'm independent, but probably lean libertarian/conservative more than anything else. I am a xtian faithwise, and generally don't fit into your normal churches. Call it a predilection to come up with new questions and philosophical bents of looking at things, I guess.

Overall, I'm a wookie who's hairline is beating a hasty retreat down it's back towards it's ..., recently divorced, and trying to switch fields from tech support to game design in a monumental effort to stave off an onrushing mid-life crisis. Yeah, I'm a catch. ;-)

I started e-smoking because well, cigs were starting to hurt after a winter of discontent cooped up with them. Now I get my geek-on when I plug in a USB cig and tell my non-techie friends I'm smoking my computer. :-O

Hi all, I'm 26 years old, been smoking off and on since 14 (more ON than OFF, lol). I've tried to quit several times, like most smokers, and have been mostly unsuccessful. My longest time quitting was from May '07 to October '08--a whole year and a half. I used Wellbutrin (Zyban) to quit, it actually worked very very well, as I was able to go so long without smoking. Well, monkey see monkey do is my thing; when my fiance was really wanting to smoke after quitting for 6 months, I agreed to do a cigar (no inhaling). A week later, we bought a pack of cloves...... then we were smoking a clove a day. A week after that, the cloves were too much for me and I caved and bought a pack of Capri's.

Soooooo, this is how it always is for me. Everytime I quit. I know I'll be back to a pack a day pretty soon if I don't do something. When I came across e-cigs last week, I really felt like this was the solution for me. I really really love smoking but I know first hand how terrible it is. I'm an RN in a cardiac monitoring unit, and most of my patients are or have been smokers. The worst part has been smoking at work these last few weeks and fearing that my patients will smell it on me.... it just doesn't feel right. I am really looking forward to the fact that I can vape at work and still smell decent! E-smoking feels like a step forward for smokers and I hope that one day it will be approved as NRT, as right now I'm not sure that I could ever suggest it as a quitting method to my patients :(

As far as other info on me: I am a night owl, love being online and learning about new things, I like to play video games and watch useless television programs; not much of an outdoorsy person. I am really looking forward to vaping while on the computer or playing WoW, LOL. Oh, and I love cats, especially lol cats as you can see on my avatar :D

I guess I might as well introduce myself. My name's Edward, Eddie, Ed... whatever you'd like to call me. I'm 19 years old living in Daytona Beach, Florida. Was born in Long Island, New York and spent my first five years in Lindenhurst. Moved to Palm Coast, then Port Orange, and settled in Ormond Beach (a tad south of Daytona, but considered within the "Daytona area").
Been here for 8 years or so.

Currently attending the local college (Now called Daytona State College... what a dumb name) pursuing my A.A. and will be pursuing a degree in engineering. I also currently work at a local 7-Eleven as an assitant manager. It's not my dream job by any means, but it's not bad and provides me with some money. I'm also getting some experience in running/managing a business out of it.

I got into e-cigs by whims of a love of nicotine and a dislike of cigarettes and other tobacco products. Been e-smoking for nearly a month now and love it. It allows me to keep my caffiene intake down along with my stress level without smelling like an ashtray or possibly killing myself with cancer, which is quite nice. On a side note, before e-cigs I'd drink roughly a liter or so of coffee daily... couldn't have been very good for me. I also used to be an energy drink junkie... but got away from that to reduce cost since they didn't have much of an effect on me anyway. After e-cigs I find myself going for the coffee a bit less.

I've been a lifelong tinkerer and lover of gadgets. I find it very difficult to own any device without modifying it at all. I really enjoy taking things apart to investigate their inner workings. Putting them back together is equally fun, sort of like a complex puzzle. I've been desperately trying not to rip my e-cig apart but we'll see how long that lasts.

I'm a taurus btw if that means anything to anyone.

Just thought I'd throw this out there....

Any other WoW nerds out there...besides me?!

LOL

/dance

Haha, yep, my fiance and I are such WoW nerds, working on our 3rd level 70s right now, hoping to be 70 on these new toons by 11/13, lol. We've been playing off and on for about 2 years now.... Maybe we should make a thread in the general discussion forum about video games and such!

And yes, I can't wait until I can e-smoke and play WoW at the same time. It sucks taking a smoke break from mining!

Hello, my name's Will, and I reside in Alabama.

I'm a 24 year old electronics factory worker and hobbyist musician (hoping to eventually accomplish something in that field. I know my way around a synthesizer but can't write songs to save my life). I generally lurk around forums and IRC and such other internet goodness (thus my nick)

I graduated High School in 2002 and went to college for a couple of years before I basically realized I had no idea what I wanted to do (I'd been through Electrical Engineering, Psychology, and English before I went undecided and then dropped out).

I'm happily single and have two kids named Noodle and Moot (yes, they are cats, but I treat them as my children).

In the (sometimes dreadful) political field, I would consider myself somewhere between a democrat and a libertarian (don't think we should have as many regulations on business as we do now, but think that some regulation is important, and I am very socially liberal).
