That's because a new "study" has shown that people staying INSIDE may get SMOKE-induced lung cancer just by seeing someone OUTSIDE, using a smoke-LESS alternative to tobacco cigarettes. We must be considerate of other people's health, right...? Right...

Really... it started as "health concerns" while smoking inside. Then, we were kicked outside to "protect the health of others". Then, we had to move x feet from the door. Then, we cannot even smoke in several OPEN outdoor spaces. And now, we can't even "not-smoke" in the visual field of others... yep... ANTZ's are definitely winning.

AGREE!!!!!
I held my tongue that day because:
1- It might not have been her fault, might've been her boss who put her up to that.
2- I didn't want to get involved in an argument with someone who's THAT ignorant...
3- I would've punched her in the face cause I had X amount of mimosas and bloody marys already.

ugh...

At my old job, I had the freedom to vape where ever I wanted (after the law has changed where indoor vaping was prohibited) as long as customers weren't around. But I know which coworkers are ignorant or not so I would have to watch myself :glare:

I am so using this line! But since I am pretty patient, I will usually use an instance like that to inform the ignorant party. Unless they get rude, then I just politely tell them it isn't smoking and I have every right to vape (never vape anywhere unless I know it is kosher anyways).
How is that? Are Jewish people more tolerant?
......... ... Juuuuust kidding.

But anyway, most hospitals are not only and obviously smoke free....... But the signs I've seen at hospitals here in and around Chitcago are "smoke free environments" ...... So that's where it's coming from..... I'm sure there are some weirdos that would consider vaping in your car in a hospital parking lot to be a felony offense........but I'm also of the Idgaf mentality when common sense over rules illogical or irrational arguments !

Probably not. I was thinking public restrooms. If I was in a hotel I wouldn't have to vape in the bathroom.
(unless it was a no smoking hotel..Haven't seen one of those but then I haven't seen many hotel rooms.)
I'm a homebuddy.
I had an incident In my home which landed us in a hotel since Dec 5 and I've been vaping since I got here, I mean clouds of glorious vapage ..... with a smoke detector right above me in the family room (its a nice hotel, full kitchen the works) and haven't had any issues. As a matter of fact the building engineer along with a few bell hops vape. One of them said they could smell it when they get out of the elevator on my floor....... While laughing and saying no really it smells better than normal. These guys have taken vape breaks in my room...... Actually built an rda for one of them....... lol.... these guys are pretty cool.

So anyways when in a hotel room vape away!

The pic didn't capture the cloud....... I tried??

As a courtesy, I don't dry burn my coils in smokefree environments. Otherwise I feel as if there is no smoke, there is no problem.
As far as tobacco free environments, until recreational nicotine is deemed a tobacco product by a government agency with jurisdiction, I am not using a tobacco product when vaping (non-tobacco liquid).

New Orleans Bans Smoking Pretty Much Everywhere | Washington Free Beacon

You can't even vape or smoke in your car in a drive through line. :(

Vaping is being treated like smoking:

The smoking ban carries $50 fines for a person who smokes a cigarette, natural or synthetic {Other stuff}, or e-cigarettes in “public places.”

Public places include aquariums, laundromats, parking structures, trailer parks, condos, restaurants, shopping malls, outdoor stadiums and amphitheaters, libraries, theaters, lobbies, and more.

The ordinance applies to private clubs, private and semi-private rooms in nursing homes, places of employment, correctional facilities, school buses, and all schools and colleges.

The ordinance goes further to banning smoking in many outdoor areas, including construction sites. Outdoor recreational areas, including amusement parks, athletic fields, beaches, fairgrounds, gardens, golf courses, parks, plazas, skate parks, swimming pools, trails, and zoos, will also be affected.

Smoking will also be banned within 25 feet of parks and bus stops.

Violations are filed as a “public nuisance.” A second violation carries a $200 fine, and a third, if committed within the last year, can be as high as $500. Businesses can also have permits suspended if they allow smoking on their premises.

New Orleans residents will also no longer be able to smoke in their cars while waiting to use an ATM.

Smoking is now banned in “all outdoor service lines, including lines in which service is obtained by persons in vehicles, such as service that is provided by bank tellers, parking lot attendants, and toll takers.”

You wanna talk about harassment? OK. Here's one for you.
I had occasion to call the police nite b4 last because I've been having problems with a neighbor.
He's lost the battle so far so now their looking for reasons to get me.
I even had Animal Services show up last Saturday because of a false accusation of animal abuse.
An anonymous call claiming to be my mail carrier.
My mailman didn't even know I have a dog except for the beware of dog sign.

The other nite a guy from down the street was passing by and stopped to shot the bull with me.
I've known this guy since he was 5 years old. The neighbor's grand daughter pulled up on the county easement and sat in her car,
engines and bright head lights on texting away on her whatever.

When she finally got out the dude I was talking with said, in a normal tone of voice, no middle fingers involved, "That was childish"
Next thing you know the guy next door is out there being super macho and trying to provoke a fight.

I told my bud to chill and leave or call the cops, I'd be a witness to the fact we were just talking and the neighbor accosted him.
So then the neighbor turned on me and his father in law came out and told me I was "An Evil" man..LOL, He doesn't know the half of it.

Rather than cap the younger guy I called the cops.
It took 20 rings for 911 to answer the phone, and 30 minutes for the cops to arrive.
When they finally got here I was vaping on my stainless steel VAMO and the "officers" drew their weapons on me.
Right, I was sucking on my revolver...

There I was trying to avoid bloodshed and I almost ended up bleeding. A Martyr to vaping.
Sheesh.

I have a feeling that there will have to be court cases...

Well they're difficult since the minority in cause has been vilified by the majority. However, let's look at the facts:

- smokers represent 18.1% of adult population - they are a significant minority
- they are oppressed in the most cruel ways imaginable (like sent out in the cold at -30C; or forced to abstinence for extended periods of time) with absolutely no effort to accommodate them in any way - on the contrary, the majority seems to enjoy devising even more cruel methods year after year
- they are extorted of considerable sums of money through taxes

If this is not a clear case of minority oppression then nothing is.

Unless smoking or vaping is certified as a disability there will be no successful cases... The reason vaping gets lumped into smoking prohibitions is to prevent smokers from complaining about the vapers and to prevent smokers from lighting up when they see vapers. It will eventually happen most places in the US, given enough time...

We may not agree with all the rules or ordinances but we have to live together. So say someone is working at the drive thru and a customer pulls up with the inside of their car filled with smoke or vapor. The drive thru worker shouldnt have to breath smoke or vapor for doing their job because your car is billowing clouds of smoke or vapor. This is the basis of most of these ordinances. Smoking and vaping are going to be treated the same in most public places regardless if we like it or not.

As a Brit I get confused about the US anytime we see your politicians on TV they are always talking about freedom either protecting it or working to introduce it all over the place and over the last couple of years I've got the impression many ordinary Americans seem to have a lot of stuff limited or restricted. Now in the UK we hold most politicians in total contempt as self serving trough feeders who wouldn't know honesty if it punched them in the face but on vaping for once they are being intelligent it's very disconcerting. They are waiting on studies and consulting the medical profession as well as listening to vaping advocacy before coming to a conclusion although as things stand a minimum age, quality standards for liquids and a possible standard for hardware are likely as well as a level of taxation. If you'd have asked me which country would be harder on vaping without seeing forums I'd have said the US would be the better place to be a vaper but seems it's the opposite.
