Well I think that part of the problem is people resisting the thought of switching. You may find you have better luck getting people to just look to try it out and look to save a little money. If they think it's an either/or thing then this creates stress, and stress and trying to quit or even just cut down do not mix.

While you can spend a fair bit of money on this, it's dirt cheap to start out, you spend a hundred bucks, a carton of cigarettes worth of money, and you're set up to save several hundred. The cost of the juice is ridiculously cheap compared to analogs. That's what got me started here. Appeal to people's resistance to being raped by the government, every pack they don't buy will make them about $10 richer. Moreover, the government is preying on our addiction by essentially robbing us every time we buy analogs, let's fight back and this is a way to do it. If you cut down by half on the analogs even well that's a big help.

So I've been vaping for 5 months and the only way I'll quit is that if I don't have to go through any withdrawal symptoms and in fact feel better all the way. I certainly do feel better vaping 75% of the time and smoking 75% less. Beyond that, we'll see, but it's stress free. For someone who has been smoking heavily for over 30 years and had become totally resigned to the fact that I'll be smoking until the day I die, and smoking a lot as even attempts to cut down met with complete failure, this whole thing is damn exciting and I'm very happy with the progress I've made. It's all about no pressure though.

I tried vaping in late 2009, and it didn't really stick, I went back to cigs.... but last month for some reason I fired up my 510 and have been doing really well since! All the fiddling turned me off, I found I wasn't getting consistently good puffs and smoking was easier.... those friends of yours who tried it and didn't take well may come back to it one day!

For people switching met with failure... The ones that tried and then gave up,
I've been pondering this a lot lately.
For some, I have a theory. It's the lack of MAOI's that are found in cigarettes! There's a underlining depression that cigarettes help dumb down. (Like smelling bad and having a lower pool of girls/guys to date from isn't depressing enough ..)

I think there is a company in the states that is producing/in the process of coming out with juice to address that specific concern can't remember where or when I read it. Was somewhere on the forum here.

I've found people love vaping when they're around me... But they don't stick to it when I'm not around. Last night went out for a coworkers going away party, and gave two of my friends an eGo with a carto each to take to the bar, so they would leave my REO mini alone :)

Worked like a charm!

Everytime I go over to someone's house to party or to the bar. I have to throw the atty out because everyone rapes my ecig communally. Then when I am the last one up drinking(like always) I crack a new atty out :)

Ah Ha!
I Found science that points to my suspicion that MAO inhibitors in Tobacco is why some friends haven't been able to make the switch!
It's all about the dopamine!

2.3 Monoamine oxidase.
Rationale. MAO, an enzyme naturally found in blood platelets and the brain, metabolises dopamine, also known as the pleasure drug. When this process is inhibited by known MAO inhibitors in tobacco smoke, dopamine tends to accumulate, reinforcing the effect of nicotine. The question is whether e-cigarette cartridge liquid also acts to inhibit MAO and reinforce the addictive effect of nicotine, or whether it acts like pure nicotine.

Method. Samples of the liquid contained in the Ruyan e-cigarette cartridges were tested with a monoamine oxidase (MAO) enzyme activity assay which employs the fluorescent MAO substrate kynuramine, and the effect compared with that from tobacco extracts including a nicotine-free tobacco.

Laboratory. ESR Porirua NZ, a Crown Research Institute. Results. Monoamine oxidase (MAO) enzymes both A and B, were strongly inhibited by tobacco smoke extracts but the cartridge liquid alone had no such effect.

Conclusion. The Ruyan E-cigarette cartridge liquid does not behave like a tobacco extract. The absence of a MAO inhibitor effect means the e-cigarette has no detectable addictive potential beyond that of nicotine alone.

I truly understand the hesitation on switching...I am only into vaping a couple of weeks now........but within two days of trying vaping I had quit smoking. I smoked probably 2 packs a day or more (canadian native) cigarettes, so cigarettes were dirt cheap. I had been toying with the idea of quiting smoking for the past couple of years, and every once in awhile got down to one or two cigarettes a day.........but usually only for a few days then I would find myself right back where I had begun smoking a couple packs a day again.

A few months ago a friend told me about e-cigarettes...the ones that look like a cigarette, but I had never actually seen one work. My first thought was ...wow that is alot of money for another quit smoking gimmick!

In June I decided I wanted to go for an operation....was told the surgeons would not even consider operating if I was a smoker.......so like most I got the doctor to write me a precription..for champix. Well I was convinced it would be easy and I would be a non smoker just like that. Haaaa champix worked for the first week and a half..........although never did get down past 4 cigarettes a day.....so decided I would try the inhaler again...nope didn't work either....by the end of Aug figured ok will try the patch and gum together....hahahah what a gimmick that was. Then on Sept 19th went through one of the worst days....had no cigarettes and ended up thinking I was going crazy....no memory, couldn't sleep, couldn't think straight anyways it was a horrible feeling to eventually find out that cigarettes has so much control over me....not only my mind but my body also.

So ended up going and buying a pack of cigarettes, ended up smoking the whole pack in amatter of about 8 hours......the whole time doing research and finding info on the e-cigarette. Got a hold of a person that sells them, met with her for about 2 hours to see what she had and learn stuff............left her feeling good about this new adventure.........but also very very skeptical. Already thinking that I had wasted my money on another gimmick I thought well next week I will call the doctor and cancel the surgery. So the next day Sept. 21 on my way to work I bought a pack of cigarettes (doubting this e-cigarette) I smoked a few cigarettes and used the ego once in awhile. Then the next day had a cigarette on the way to work, used the ego all other times I wanted a cigarette, and had a cigarette on the way home.....as soon as I lit the cigarette I thought it tasted horrible, then I thought ok I have had my puffs now what in the hell do I do with the rest of this cigarette...........so I put it our and finished it later Inot wanting to waste it lol).

Without even realizing that was my last cigarette...........wihtin a day I had discovered the different flavours of juice and ordered some.....wow!! Why on earth would I want to smoke a regular cigarette when I can be vaping something that tastes like Irish Cream. The very best part is I don't even have a craving for a cigarette and still have 16 cigarettes left int hat pack in my lunch kit....as someone said kind of like a trophy knowing they will stay there....atleast till someone else smokes them.

Anyway people at work are very interested in this new e-cigarette and amazed that I have quit smoking so easily..........me the die hard smoker that I was....vowed I would likely be smoking till my last breath.....hadn't let a single day go by in over 30 years without a cigarette. However when I mention the start up cost that makes them reconsider, but I believe within a few months some of them will switch over. Also the fact that the nicotine is not sold openly is a factor..................mind you we all smoked the natives which are also taboo!

Gonna try and get some of my family members on board with this vaping also, if they don't do it themsleves then thinking I know what to get them for Christmas lol!!!

I believe vaping is one of those things where...........people have to see it to believe it.........and up until I found this forum I had no idea what vaping was. Surroundign yourself with other vapers is a good thing and really reinforces that we are doing a good thing for our bodies and those around us. We just have to keep exposing people to it and some will take to it, some won't.
