OK, I'm new here and new to the whole e-cig thing. I've been doing some reading here getting ready for my first purchase and have a few questions I need some help/suggestions with.

First, who has the better starter kits? By better I mean price, service, etc.

Also, what would you recommend for a first timer? I'd like something not overly complicated, but that I can "grow into" in the future. I don't want a starter model that I'll be looking to replace in a week.

I've been looking at the Joye 510 kit from cignot as well as the ego. From what I understand, I can get the 510 and upgrade it with parts from the ego if I choose, plus I can mod the 510 later.

I'd also like to know how often I can expect to buy juice, attys, etc. Don't know which models are better about battery life, atty life, and the like. I know there will be some trial and error with this but would like to get as close to right from the start. My big concern is that I get the wrong one, or that I under/over estimate how much the ongoing supplies will be. I certainly don't want to replace one habit with a more expensive one.

Finally, I don't know if this will help, but I currently smoke Marlboro Reds, sometimes 2 packs a day, so I'll need to know what that translates to in e cig

Thanks in advance for the help

...you know, I'm tempted to get a 510 myself, if not just so I can tell people I've tried one... That being said, I don't know much about the 510, I don't have one. I do, however, know about being a two pack a day smoker:) I use a vaporking from V4L, which is a type of kr808d1. I use it with premium cartos, premium flavors, and manual XL bats. That would probably put my vaping dead center in price comparissons, when accounting for the fact that I vape the equivalent of 3-4 cartos per day. Right now I use 8-4mg nic content, due to how much I vape, but you should start out at a higher level as a newbie - 20ish mg nic, +/-. As far as V4L, they are priced great, ship quickly, and have wonderful customer service.

My advice - buy a really basic kit, and if you like it, expand. You'll probably try a few different kinds, so bear that in mind. Read through the threads and you'll get a mountain of info, and a good list of suppliers.

P.s. I've heard great things about cignot.

You can't go wrong with the 510 as a starter and I think you'll like the eGo even more. I like the 510 for its smaller size and the eGo for its better performance. It's great that you can use the same 510 attys in both devices. I've dealt with several vendors but when it comes to customer service, Phil at Esmokeytreats and Curt at Esmokeyshack are a joy to deal with. I also smoked Marlboro, so you might want to try their USA Mix or USA Blend. Don't expect either juice to be "exactly" like a Marlboro but when it comes to flavor, those two come pretty close to an actual "cigarette taste." Just bears mentioning, I am not affiliated with either vendor but I've tried a lot of "cigarette flavored" juices and haven't really found anything that comes close to what Phil and Curt are selling. If someone can recommend another juice which tastes like a cigarette, I'd sure like to try it. Juice wise, it depends on how much you vape. I cut both juices with 25% Glycerin for a 75/25 mix - a 15ml bottle of this mix will last me from one to two weeks depending on how much I vape but keep in mind, I am not a heavy vaper. With attys, I can usually get about two months out of them with daily rinsing and a Polident bath once per week. I hope this helps... =)

I have, so far, only tried the 510 stuff. So that's all I know.

The cheapest place I've found a 510 starter kit is Cignot.com (No box). That'll get you 2 batteries w/charger, 2 atomizers, and a 5 pack of prefilled carts. You can also purchase some juice while you're there. When I ordered mine a while back it seems like I recall that they'll let you pick if you want an auto or manual battery. I got one of each.

If someone finds a better deal than that, lemme know.

You've heard great things about CigNot for good reasons... ;)
I 'definitely' recommend you start with a ($40 shipped) Manual Joye 510 (no box) Starter Kit from Cignot. (Joye 510 NO BOX). You get two complete eCigs with a wall charger and 5 pre-filled cartridges. (I recommend the Marlboro high nicotine ones). The Joye 510 produces TONS of vapor & flavor and is the highest quality eCig out there for the Money.. hands down. While you're there... go ahead & order some of their Joye Smoke/Tobacco flavored Nicotine Liquids.... 24 mg strength is a great Nicotine level and will keep you away from the Analogs. I've tried EVERYTHING and in my humble opinion nothing comes close to the Joye 510 eCig... (except for the Janty eGo and some of the more expensive MODS and what have you)... but since $ is an issue, as it is for MOST of us, then the Joye 510 is what you NEED to start with... and end with. You could also add a Personal Charging Case for $25.00 while you're there at Cignot too. (Joye PCC). That allows you to re-charge your eCigs while you're out & about.. and the PCC sort of resembles a traditional cigarette pack/case. That's OK.. you can THANK me later.. they ALL do.. (Be sure to tell 'em Eve sent ya!!!) :D

Don't mess around with auto batteries.... I'm a couple of months in and they are all dead. The manuals keep on working. I would also recommend seriously considering something with a big battery or replaceable batteries. I only smoked about 5 cigs a day, but I use this thing a lot, and the batteries they come with are tiny for purely cosmetic reasons. You will get tired of switching them out all of the time I think.

but hey I'm just trying to get my post count up...... $.02

OK so it's looking like I'll be getting the 510 to start. Now let me ask you this:

How long will the battery last on a single charge? I'll need enough batteries/chargers to get through an entire day - remember I'm used to about 2 packs per day so I'll need the e cig equivalent of this if I'm going to get off the analogs.

Also, how long will a cartridge last before needing to be refilled? I know the cignot kits come with 5 pre loaded carts but will that last a day, a week or what?

Finally, let's assume I get the 510 kit (the no box one with 2 complete e cigs). How much additional juice should I get to start? I'm going to say I'll need enough for 2 weeks - any ideas?

Thanks again for all the replies and help on this

I'm going with the manual battery for sure...how often do you have to recharge them? Also, how long until you have to just replace the manual battery completely?

Although I started vaping last year, I only got serious about it over the past month. I initially invested lots of $$$ in the highly-recommended manual Joye 510 stuff, and later a few $$$ in the automatic 801. Because of family calamities, I actually got to use the 801 exclusively and never really gave the 510 a chance.

Over the past month, I really tried hard to make the 510 work for me, but I much preferred the ease of drag, long battery life, size, feel, and vape volume of the 801. However, I started getting other friends and family members interested so had to host small "vaping parties". I have no scientific evidence to document this, but what I found is that most of the males (at all ages) liked the manual 510, but most of the females (especially those over 40) agreed with me on the automatic 801.

To complicate the answer to your question even more, I have found that I don't really like sweet or fruity liquids (except for Viking Vapor Caramel Maccihiato - yum!) as much as I thought I would. Also, I really don't like the hassle of cleaning filler material and atomizers, but I'm still in the initial stages of testing lots of liquid so that's a factor.

Earlier today, I spent a lot more $$$ at Vapor4Life because I really think the KR808 with cartomizers (and XL batteries) are the right choice for ME, but that does not mean it is right for YOU. I justifed this new choice based on the price of cigs in my state, how many analogs I smoked daily, and my inpatience. I also ordered blank cartomizers to try to use up my existing bottles of fluid.

I wish I would have known about the discount that Keyzygirl mentioned "Vapor4life is having a 20% off sale right now.Derby20" tonight. I guess the Coupon List that I have bookmarked does not have the latest discounts; I only got 10% today.

Sorry if I didn't help you with your initial question, but wanted to add some insight about why some models work for some and other models for others.

Hang in there, you'll figure it out!
