Hi guys im gonna try to build using claptons. What are the common gauges used. It is premade claptons fyi.

Using kanthal I do a 28g core 32g wrap.
But it sounds like you're buying pre made Claptons. Are you asking how to wrap and wick them?

Are you using clapton wire by UD? Im pretty sure that stuff in kanthal, 32 claptoned over 26.
There is a huge array of possibilities. Core wire and clapton wire can be anything you want. And then you have the option of ss, kanthal, or nichrome. I enjoy either 24 or 26g kanthal for the core and 36g nichrome for the clapton, fused claptons that is. Im also playing around with 26g ss for the core wire.
