about each other. So how long have you all smoked? When did you start vaping? How long did your transition last or are you still smoking?

I'll start. I'm 37. I started smoking when I was 11 and I was smoking roughly 1ppd. I started vaping a year ago. My transition lasted till late last August. Ya  I'm a slow learner. Now I can't imagine going back to smoking.

Your turn! :)

I'm 23, smoked Marlboro Lights since I was 15, around a pack a day. I had a PV from Puresmoker back in 2009 but I went back to cigarettes until about a month ago and I found the Reomods. My decision to go back to electronic cigarette is because I'm young and my lungs felt like they were going to pop, I would literally feel them gurgling during the day and sometimes at night. I've been smoke free for about a month now and I feel rejuvenated.

I'm 49, smoked for over 30 years at least a pack a day and most of the time more. My first 510 arrived on Nov 16, 2010 and I have not had a cigarette since. I progressed to a GLV Mini (which I just traded for my first Reo Mini) and also use my Phid daily. I now consider Nov 16th my 2nd birthday of the year and look forward to being 1 year old!

I am 47 and have been smoking since I was 15. I have been vaping for about 4 mos. I have not had an analog now that I have been vaping and don't miss them one bit. I took a hit off an analog a few weeks ago and didn't like it all ( never thought I would be able to that ) I could taste it for a few minutes and couldn't stand it. Glad i tried the Reo's.

I'm 40. In high school and college I sometimes smoked menthol cigarettes when I was drinking or to help me stay awake during long drives, but I didn't become a habitual smoker until I was 24 and I started using non-menthol cigarettes as a crutch to deal with stress on the job. A few years ago, I switched from my 2 pack/day habit to Black & Mild cigars. I'd smoke 4 to 6 per day. Last November I overpaid for a used 510 kit and some juice samples and discovered I preferred vaping over smoking, but cartridges frustrated me due to inconsistent juice delivery to the atty. Cartomizers were better, but still required topping off with juice too frequently. The battery life was also inadequate. I read Clyde's review thread on the Reo Grand and thought that the Grand addressed all of the issues I was having with my 510. I got in on a sale on 12/29/2010 and received my Grand on 01/03/2011. My batteries and charger arrived 01/07/2011. That was a sucky week, btw. I charged my batteries over night and started vaping from my Grand 01/08/2011. I haven't smoked since then.

:)

I'm old. I smoked for 40+ years - 1 to 2 packs a day depending on how bad a day it was. I started looking into PVs when I had some friends at another website started posting about PVs around June of last year and how they were doing. They gave me the link to this site and I started lurking and researching and picking their brains. I asked one of them what I should get and where should I get it and what mg did I need to start with. He suggested an Ego from Cignot and to start at 18mg as I was a menthol Ultra Light smoker.

I got my starter kit 8/17 and started vaping while still smoking but made some rules for my smoking - not inside the house or the car and could only buy 1 pack at a time. Those places I could only vape. By the end of the week I was down to 1/2 pack or less per day. I was invited by some friends up to their cabin for Labor Day, so I decided that I was only bringing my ego and pre-filled carts with me. I figured if I really needed to, I could buy a pack of cigs up there. I had my last cig 9/5 right before I left and haven't had one since. I also went from 18mg to 12mg to 6mg where I'm at right now. Eventually I would like to get down to 0mg.

I got my mini towards the end of January. I love it but still like my Ego and still use it. I put 1 flavor in my Ego and a different flavor in the mini. It works for me.

I'm 49. Started smoking when I was 16. Smoked about 1-1/2 packs per day (Camel Ultra Light 100's) until I discovered the Njoy Npro at my local cig store. That was in April 2009. I pretty much quit analogs that day. I slipped a time or two, but they tasted so bad I couldn't go back. Now I love vaping and love this community.

I smoked 1 pad Kools for 40 years. On November 24, 2010 I got an eGo so that I could "smoke" all of those places where I couldn't smoke. Took one hit of that godawful generic Marlboro cartridge and it clicked that I could do this "instead." Smoked a pack or two over the next 1 1/2 weeks until my 24 mg juice came in, and I stopped. Took another week to figure out I needed a REO. When I got it, I knew I wasn't going back to the analogs.

I'm 42. I've been smoking a pack/day since I was 17. Was introduced to a Joye 510 last Dec 09. Bought 2 which lasted for a few months but eventually went back to analogs. I've been wanting to stop but didn't get around to doing it. Finally, bought 2 eGos last December 2010 and I haven't gone back since. I now have an Omega and GLV2 but have been wanting more. I have this nagging feeling inside me that a Grand will be it for me. I drive a lot and dripping and driving don't mix :)

I'm 50. Started smoking when I was 14 at 1-1.5 packs a day. Picked up my first e-cig August 2009. Started with an E-9, graduated to a KR8088 system in October 2009. Picked up a Riva sometime last year and decided to go with a bottom feeder mod. Nothing else compares. I actually picked up vaping so that I could get my nic fix everywhere that I could not use analogs. I'm still smoking analogs but not as much - down to perhaps 1/2 - 1 pack a day, depending on how stressful the day is. Finally decided to up my nic mg from 12 to 18 and that seems to take care of a lot of the analog cravings.

I'm 44 but didn't start smoking till I was 38. Before that I was a serious anti-smoker :)

No one in my family smokes, 1 brother 2 sisters and mom and dad .... all non smokers.

I always figured I didn't need to smoke cigs because I spent 20 years lighting up unmentionable items on a daily basis.
I made my wife quit smoking when we met in 1990 so she was not pleased when she found out I started up in 2005. I wound up a PAD camel light smoker. It was amazing that I was exactly a PAD, every day right to the hour.

I got my first 510 kit at a mall with "Hi nic" (8mg) :) juice.
That was 14 months ago, I quit within the first 3 days.
Haven't looked back since.

Hi my name is Preston and I'm a..............
Wait, Mike did you say that this was the wrong group, oh sorry....ya awkward.
I'm 38, I started smoking when I was in 8th grade.....hmm I think I was 13. Started with Camel Shorties, when I quit I was smoking between 3-5 packs a day. I couldn't breathe, had to use an inhaler every hour, and I have a machine next to my bed called a nebulizer that I used twice a day as well. I was pretty close to death. Every cold I had turned into a serious lung infection. The day I quit smoking is below his post. I actually started vaping the next day. I tried to quit for the umpteenth time, this time using welbutrin, well on day two I was going nuts! I remembered that my wifes yoga instructor had convinced her to buy an e-cig, so I asked my wife if I could use it. I started chain vaping with it. It was a pink Joye 510. One of the batteries would last for 20 miutes, the other battery for thirty. I had to refil the cart very 10 minutes. I have no idea what strength the juice was, it was something Penny (Jennys Yoga teacher) gave us. I'm guessing around 30-40, it really gave me a rush. I haven't smoked since. I have wanted to, on days when I couldn't get my PV'S to work well, I VAPE almost 10 ml a day on a bad day so if I can't keep something filled, or the atty doesn't want to fire, or whatever I'm losing it still. I'm still on the welbutrin, it makes it better. I had quit taking it for a few weeks, and that was a really bad few weeks.
Well.......hmm, I ended up with an ego tank system, and have had all of the problems with those. So I wanted a bottom feeder pretty bad, I have a crappy one, and I really want a REO! Hopefully I will have one soon, if everything goes tight on both ends.

Ohh, quick edit.....my Avatar....it is me :)
That's the view that I love the most, and the reason I live where I live.

I started smoking at age 15. I was a high school cheerleader, and I can remember it being so cold outside in Cleveland, Ohio, that I put my cigarette out, (or at least I thought I did), and put it in my varsity jacket, and sure enough burnt a hole in my Cheerleading varsity jacket. My mother bought me my first pack of cigarettes.

I stopped smoking completely when I was pregnant. The smell, the taste, it just wasn't doing it for me. Little did I know, it was my own body's protective mechanism because I had a growing baby inside of me. I had a planned homebirth, and after the birth of my son, I walked outside to see my divorced parents both smoking. My dad offered me a cigarette. I took it. The next day he showed up at my house with a ton of buy one/ get one Marlboro menthol lights. There I was...........once again a smoker.

Back in May, 2009, I married my husband in Las Vegas. This was my first time ever seeing an electronic cigarette. Right there on the Vegas strip was what appeared to be a playboy playmate vaping away, and offering it to me. I tried it, walked away, and lit up a marlboro menthol light. I thought it was just a fad. I had a weird feeling that some big company was paying beautiful women to promote the electronic cigarette.

Spring forward to February 2010, I was at a local flea market in Houston, Texas where there was a "smoke shop". Low and behold, they were selling 401 electronic cigarette kits for buy one get one free. I think they were like $60. I snatched up the deal for my mother and I. My mom had ALL intentions of becoming a non-smoker, but I just KNEW that I would NEVER stop smoking. That early on, it was difficult to find 401 carts, and the only juice available was "menthol" or "tobacco". Both my kit and my mother's sat in our closets as we continued to smoke.

Spring forward again to February 2011, I was about to turn 35 years old. I was now a personal trainer, and a Zumba Instructor, but still smoking. I googled electronic cigarette forums. The ECF came up first on my google search, and I was both stunned and amazed at the wealth of information available. The different options besides the 401, the different flavored juices, the support and friendship that was available at this forum. I ordered a Joye 510 Kit with some extras and some juices that same day. February 5, 2011 was my first day without a cigarette in nearly 20 years. I've been smoke free since then. My energy level has increased tremendously. My activity level, and endurance has increased by levels only I can imagine. I feel incredible!

I think to this day, "I can't believe that I actually put something that was on fire that tasted like dirt with some mint in it in my mouth". Especially when I can still obtain juice that binds to nicotine receptors that tastes like vanilla custard, blackberry cheesecake, or bananas foster!!

Since then the Joye 510 led me to the Ego-T, and now to the Reo Mini and a Reo Grand. All along I wanted the most incredibly easy, and tasteful vape experience ever. I actually think i've found my sweet spot, and can't ever imagine putting something that is on fire that tastes like dirt with mint in it, in my mouth ever again.

***This was cross posted in this thread because i'm trying to win some plain tobacco flavor juice for my husband's boss.***

...I spent 20 years lighting up unmentionable items on a daily basis.
looool don't mind my username :p

I'm 35, smoked 23 years, 1pad. Toward the end I was wheezing a bit in the morning, clearing my throat etc. Coughing and spitting was just around the corner, my dad spend about 45 min every morning hacking up a lung into the bathroom sink. I decided it was time to at least TRY to quit.

Haven't had one since the day my eGo arrived. Same for Mrs dopeh, though she cheated on day 2, lit a cig and said it tasted like as$. It's been almost 3 months for us, we are DONE with smoking (cigs).

Started dripping cuz I was tired of filling 20 carts a day. Got a Grand cuz I was tired of dripping. The rest is REO history.

My whole family smokes. Both parents, both sisters, and myself. All 4 grandparents smoked. One sister quit on her own for health reasons, and I just got my mom and other sis to start vaping, as well as my friend and his wife. I'm a mean MFing vape preaching machine!

Another bonus is that I likely won't have to firebomb Imperial Tobacco. I had always promised myself that if I ever got a smoking related illness, I would take it out on them lol
