I'm 40 now. Started smoking at 15 or so. I'd say I was going through a pack 1/2 a day. Last May I ordered a KR808D-1 kit and as soon as I took my first vape, I never had another analog. I gave my remaining two packs away!
After a few weeks, I needed something more, or I needed something different. I made the mistake of the Wetbox, and a few days later I came across the Reo thread that Rob started and got an original wood REO.
That was the deal-sealer. Now my wife and I are Reonauts after I bought her a Woodvil along with mine.
Very cool.

Heck guys, ME as a teenager is the reason I don't have kids. I was about as subversive as it gets. Most people who know me as an adult don't believe it.

I have some people I interact with that can guess or have that eyebrow up like "you don't fool me."

...just letting it simmer folks, I'm pretty much loving how I was 12 and choking on lights is about a low average, just a pinch of zest and we'll have ourselves an awesome goulash.

Just recently turned 51. Started smoking when I was around 12. up to about a pack and half a day. Even that was depending if I went out to the bar. If I did it was around 2-3 packs just for that night. My lungs are gone! Started vaping 10 months ago today!!! Took me about a week once I got going. I was on my last pack. Smoked about 8 the first day and then about 5 the next day and 3 the next. Saved 1 just incase I needed to but never used it. Ended up throwing it away. That was a milestone in its self for me!!! I still cant get over I havent smoked for 10 months. Just incredible!! I was sure I would be holding a cigarette in my coffin. LOL! Now can I stop vaping? Not sure. I do know one thing. I really enjoy vaping so Im not looking to stop that yet. Now I can breath better, smell better (both clothes and nose), taste better and I havent been sick! I usually catch a few colds, the flu or pnuemonia. but not this past year! Life is good!!!

In the clouds
about each other. So how long have you all smoked? When did you start vaping? How long did your transition last or are you still smoking?

Your turn! :)

Hi Rhasodies -- I smoked nearly 30 years -- geez -- I hate seeing that in black and white like that (I think that's why I didn't reply to thread sooner).

Truth be told, I tried a cigarette at about 12 years old, a cigarette I took from my grandma's pack -- and I went into the bathroom, locked the door, and tried it. I thought I was getting away with something... what a foolish child. But I really started as a teenager, at about 18.

I started vaping in December last year, and am so happy I stopped smoking the same day I got my ecig - in spite of the fact that I had a newly opened pack of cigarettes and a new carton as well! But it was time, and now it was possible!

If it weren't for the ecig...I may have added another year of smoking because I wasn't ready to quit (nicotine) but I was ready to switch! Thank Goodness for the inventors of the ecig and the REO!

I am 49. Started smoking at 13 (Stealing Dad's Old Golds off the top of fridge). Up to 2 pad Marl Reds. Purchased an NJoy Npro from gas station July 2009. After two weeks was frustrated at all the maintenance involved and different modifications tried, etc. Went with the kr808 from Vapor4Life in August 2009 (also when I joined ecf). That sufficed my cravings very well (finally gave up cigs completely in Sep 09). Moved up to the eGo in October 2010. After coming back to ecf (had been absent for over a year; sorry by the way everyone), stumbled upon the REO forum. After much reading and reviewing vids, I said to myself, I have to get me one of those. Was very fortunate, after going to REO site, hit the "notify me" button on a black/silver mini. Two days later got that Holy Grail email saying it was available. Bam!!!! hit the purchase and 5 days later (March24,2011), had my first REO. I am so loving this wonderful new pv. Cant put it down. Have even fell asleep in recliner the other night with it in my hand. Woke up the next morning still clutching it!!!! Good morning Mr. Mini I said. Good morning Mike said Mini, sleep well? Why yes I did. Please squonk and hit me please, says he. Why certainly. Another day in paradise for Mr. Mini and me. Ahhhh, life is good. Needles to say, since I have stopped smoking almost two years ago, I feel better, look better, smell better, ore energy, more taste. Days have been sunny again my fellow REOnauts. Have a wonderful day in Reoville. Keep vaping!!!!!!

Hi. I'm 54 and smoked off and on ( mostly on ) since age 14. Enjoyed it too. A lot. That's why I could never stop even though it severely aggravated my chronic sinusitis. Some friends had quit smoking with the help of a Ego 510 so I ordered a Riva 901 to check out this vaping thing. ONE DAY after using the Riva I looked at my half pack of Winstons and thought- Wow I don't want you. Totally unbelievable. I hadn't really had much faith in the idea that there was anything to this Ecig business. I now actually PREFER vaping. So, the chronology- Start smoking summer 1970. Riva arrives Jan. 11 2011. Last Winston on Jan.12 2011. No smokes since, don't want 'em. Reo Mini arrives March 8 2011. I LOVE MY MINI but will always have a soft spot for the Riva that set me free.

I am 38 and started smoking at 15. I can even begin to explain how profoundly negative smoking affected my life. I knew I would never be happy not smoking, so conventional or "Pharmacopia approved" means of quitting wasn't going to do it. Have you seen the Chantix commercial and listened to the long list of side affects at the end? Sheesh..I was safer smoking! I think I first heard about E-cigs on the news but never really bought into the idea until one day, it popped back into my head and I started researching online, and bought the first pen style E-cig I found that looked good.(Big mistake) Then I discovered ECF, and in pretty short order, I zeroed in on a silver Ego and for a week or two I smoked 3-4 analogs a day until I could really feel the nicotine from vaping and felt satisfied that it worked. Then I started really enjoying it and forgot all about those nasty little analog coffin nails. I have regained so much of my life thanks to vaping, and I never had to suffer any withdraw or side affects of any kind. I actually prefer this to smoking and will never go back to analogs.

Well I'm 34 and I started smoking when I turned 16. I had numerous quit attempts and actually last 6 months straight in 2000 but then a stressful day put an end to that. I finally got tired and scared what my life would be like in another 20 years as after 17 years I would easily get winded, would always wheeze at night and I would be constantly coughing up...well you know nothing bad just...nevermind. So I finally quit for good May 23rd 2010, but as the time went on my wife felt I was not the same and I knew I didn't want to go back to smoking so luckily I discovered the wonderful world of vaping. I started vaping near the end of July and my adventure continues. I can actually smell and taste things now and it continues to get better and better. I no longer wheeze or cough up anything. I hardly get winded anymore and it's not even been a full year with out cigarettes. This is the longest time I've not smoked since I was 15 and I have not even considered going back to or even trying an analog.

The transition wasn't hard for me as in my mind there is no option for me to go back to analogs. I am into gadgets and technology so it was very easy for me to get really involved in this world of vaping and this community. I am looking to join the ranks of the REONAUTS by purchasing my first REO Mini. I currently use a ProVari with a MAP Tank and while it's great, it just isn't ideal for traveling as well as it can get cumbersome with cleaning and maintenance of the tank. It is better than constantly having to drip but I feel that the Mini would be perfect for me. I am just afraid that I will like it too much and then watch out as I feel I am OCD when it comes to collecting...so who knows.

Well sorry to go on and on but thanks for viewing and look forward to joining this club.

I started smoking at 15. Bought my first pack at 18, dad smoked up a storm, so he never missed the ones I helped myself to. Was married at 17 and had to buy my own pack when hubby left for his first deployment to Japan. I was able to quit smoking for each pregnancy, and kept smoking after pregnancy outside only, no where near my kids. They had allergies and asthma. Always took it back up tho. I loved being pregnant, but was miserable without my nicotine.

My dad died from emphysema, and I have a sister who was diagnosed with COPD and emphysema in Sept '10, FIL also has COPD and emphysema, he was diagnosed shortly after my dads funeral. I sure hope I am not added to that list.

I started vaping on Feb 1 to try to cutback...was at 2 pad. Ive had a couple since then. Longest stretch was 3 weeks with out a smoke. I have a vGo and most days it does good, batteries are a problem tho...charging both each day just to make it thru a day. Also hate having to top off cart, tanks suck nice concept, just not there yet. So I ordered my 18650 (3) and Pila charger this am. Should have them by the time the Grands go up for sale. Already have the lower nic juice. Normally 24 mil...also have 18 now. I do need to get some lr atties and drip tips tho. I would love to get a woodville, just concerned about it fitting comfortably in my hand, so I will probably get a woodville mini when they are available.

I am so thankful "smoking" has finally made it into this century, every thing else has evolved. I just wish the govts and fda would realize this.

Vape on!
