Mmmm this is interesting as I have in my possession a Nickel GGTS with holes in the venting cap and it's made of nickel. Not aluminum. I checked the insides and it's totally a nickel venting cap with holes.. ???

I'm away from home so can't really add pictures but I have one. When I get back I'll double check and post pics..

I also have a few pics of interesting GGTSs that will throw everything upside down like an all aluminum GGTS REV 1 #111 and #888 that will really confuse us all as it's a rev 2 BUT it has REV-1 engraving... The 2 later ones are not in my possession but the guy who owns them will let me post them up.

Still there's many a mystery in the early productions of REV-1 GGTSs ... right up until the last Nickel.. I'm forever finding strange results.

I'm away in New Zealand for no now but when I return I'll add some very odd pictures.. Hold on I think I have them stored.. One moment..

Imeo sent out some Nickel venting caps with holes.... to someone for some reason.. and maybe they were shared amongst friends.. thus we sometimes see nickel venting caps with side holes. Sorry I don't have all the answers but I know who has them. I think it was done for some experiment in the old days and ????

But they certainly exist.

What also makes the above photos even more odd is I have a Nickel GGTS #886 with holes in the venting cap... Above we have #888 In REV 2 with REV-1 engraving... ?????

Sorry for throwing the cat amongst the pigeons but there are some secrets out there that may never be revealed hahahaha... I must ask for serial # verification from the owner of the pictures above.

slot around the cap was introduced on SS GGTS. Aluminium and nickel GGTS had holes around the cap. The even older models had holes in front of the cap something that I stop it early because front holes will make the e-cig act like a rocket in your mouth in case of an explotion

Sorry for the OT guys, but I'm really amused by the time perception we have in the e-cig world.
I mean, we are speaking about old times, about vintage object made 2-3 years ago...
Fact is in my second life I'm a columnist about hi-fi gears and for me a vintage object, for instance, is my EMT 927 turntable, made in 1956 for the Swedish radio, or a Marantz tube amplifer made in the early sixties. ;)

What is it i don't understand here Skiba? To me it seems like 886, 888 and 911 are identical -- and they should ne until the range of alu comes

And about the engraving on rev1 and rev2 ... i think they have identical engraving on tube in the range from 459 - 879. The difference in rev1 and rev2 is the connector ...4in1 from 459 and adcap from 550

Mmmmmm...
So the venting cap of my nickel cannot be nickel; let's check the weight...
Yes, it's the same weight of the SS one.

Grunt! ;)

So that clears up that we had holes in the venting cap on nickels also.. and we had many nickels with slot like ssggts.

How many of what and when is something that will no doubt remain a mystery.. but I have seen more nickels with slot than with holes.

Yes maybe the first batch of nickels had holes and the later batch had slots... ?

right otello.
Ok, compare the "nickel" venting cap with slot, with a venting cap that you are sure its SS. If the weight is almost similar then the "nickel" one is SS in reality
You're right, the inside is shining. ;)

But this cap cannot be Aluminum inside: it weighs twice...
The point is I understood Nickel is not solid Nickel but Aluminum coated with Nickel... Is it right?

Yes Imeo, it's what I made; SS and "nickel" caps are both 16.8 grams.
For the record, the brass one is 17.5 and the aluminum is 5.8 (yes, I do have 3 slotted alu caps made in 2012. :p )
What's strange is the interior of the "nickel" cap is much more shining than the SS, actually it looks as it is chromed. (!?!?)
