You know something guys and gals, this is when this forum is just the Bees Knees... when we come together, and simply enjoy one another's companionship, and if we were down the pub, I would offer a toast...

Here's to absent friends... Mamu and Imeo, may they soon be back amongst us !

My goodness, I went to my day job and returned to see yet another thread had been hijacked. :) Well, that may be an understatement around here, ha ha.

Sometimes it is not memely the device that is a turnoff but the fact that the makers of these devices are so darn proud of the item. I am not speaking of only Imeo, I have seen examples of others, simply by visiting here or there and not directly being involved myself. Rightly so, one should be very proud of a device he or she has constructed, though I see a tendancy for these to become arrogant.

Without trying to sound ugly, I do sometimes feel as though I am on a used car lot. And Imeo, I am really not trying to single you out--just to offer an example.

It just always seems whenever I have a question about the device it always pushed by Imeo that it is the best in the world, it will never break, you will never need to buy another one, etc, etc, etc. And most questions are answered this way.

I understand the makers are trying to sell their product but when I tried to ask if I could purchase "something else" to adapt a 510 atomizer, I did not post here. I thought it rude. But the moderator moved it anyway & I was in a round about way trying to figure if I could save $20 USD by buying one from another store for another device. Of course I never got far. In the end, I decided to purchase from Imeo because I had no idea if the one from the store I had in mind would even work with the GG.

I decided to play it safe and purchase the 510 adapter from SmokeJuice. $20 GBP is about average when compared to $30 USD, after converstion rates, however I was very turned off by the shipping rate I was quoted.

It cost me esentially $16 USD to have a 1 ounce item shipping from the UK to USA. ($48 USD total for the adapter) Talk about sticking it to someone.

I buy padded envelopes in bulk resulting in $0.18 USD each
I can ship a 2 ounce padded envelope to the UK for $2.04
Maximum PayPal fees would be 2.9% plus $0.30

So for ME to ship a $30 item to the UK would cost roughly $3.27 USD for shipping & paypal fees.
So it is actually no suprise to me that paying 5 times as much for shipping is keeping most everyone in business.

I do have several turnoffs about the Nano and the team behind it. It is the same sort of things that turned me off from another device. So why did I purchase the Nano at nearly $200 USD? It was my understanding that it would be my last chance to get one and while looking into beefy devices, I figured I should try it while I had the chance. Not to mention all the great feedback on the Nano....

Though, after receiving it, I immediately, very clearly understood how simple it is to make such a thing when you have access to machines, materials, etc. After spending SO much money on this thing that I *sort of like/dislike* I am now wishing I had known to buy some simple battery connectors & had my dad machine out a chunk of aluminum.

I will freely admit that I have not yet had time to test out the Nano with the 510 adapter and atomizer. I am sure once I do so, I will be deciding whether I want to keep it, or sell it & invest in some such other device.

Gem, sorry yes, we did hijack the thread.

I am afraid Imeo is in hospital just now and unable to assist, by responding to you in person.

I do understand the exchange rate is poor just now, hence our American friends are finding purchasing through the UK very expensive.

In Imeo's absence we will do all we can to help and assist you, however we are restricted to just this, as the business is simply run by Imeo, who makes the GG, ( bar the atomiser and batteries) by hand himself, and Tim over at Smokejuice, who sells them for him.

Hi whatagem... I apologize for the thread hijack. I thought your questions had been addressed.

With regards to the maufacturers... yes, they're proud of their devices, as they should be. They're providing a much needed, quality product in a market clamoring for bigger, better devices. They are pioneers in a new and exloding territory. It's the wild west, for sure. Some perceive Imeo as arrogant - as do I, to an extent. I feel that the cultural differences account for a great deal of that, however.

A lot of us went to a great deal of trouble to provide information for you so that you'd be a better informed consumer. Happy to do it. But some leg work and reasearch has to be done on your own. I did a LOT of digging before settling on the GG. I wouldn't depend on the 'used car saleman' for total information on a car purchase from his lot. I'd do some outside research. Which is what I did when considering the GG. I went behind the scenes and asked other owners what they thought, if they were having any problems, how was the support, etc. Where they might feel more comfortable answering such questions rather than on the manufacturer's forum itself.

As for the shipping. I, too, paid an outrageous amount to get the 801 adaptor from the UK. That's just the way it is.

If you'd done a little more research you would have realized that all of the 'big rigs' are nothing more than battery holders. This has been pointed out time after time in many places on the forum. There are even detailed instructions on this forum on how to build your own. I can't (and wouldn't want to) build one so I'm happy to have someone else make it for me.

I'm sorry you're unhappy with your Nano. It's no longer being made so I'm sure someone will be happy to take if off your hands.

Ah, but as far finding said "detailed instructions" and information, one must wade through 12 pages of banter and chit chat. I have no problem with such a tight group being friendly, but most threads on small forums are overcome with this sort of things. Answers, questions, comments are hidden in the middle, and who has time to sift through the all of this?
