I've only been vaping for almost two months and it has really given me a lesson in what I already knew I had very little of: patience.

1) online ordering. No brick and mortars near me. Thank God that MBV is quick with their deliveries
2) steeping. I already failed on that with the first juices I received 2 weeks ago. But since I have ordered again, I will learn to time things better.

Who knew that I'd learn so much by quitting smoking?!

And I love the Phrase "Give steep a chance"
That's Classic. Love it. Not got the song in my head and it won't go away.

Kelli, you crack me up, I was just about to warn.

Don't heat in microwave and if you put into very hot water make sure that the top is
not sealed.

Thank gosh that you didn't have it sealed, it could have burst or exploded.

Sounds like I'm closing the barnyard door after the horses have escaped.!

yeah, where were you when i needed you, oh mentor? :p

Hmm, this whole steeping thing is completely new to me but it seems everyone is talking about it. I recently started ordering a lot of different favors from different vendors to try and they all have a perfumery quality (except my Copper Creek "House Blend" which is fantastic, but seems to be diminishing in flavor for me, hence the new flavors). Does steeping help the perfumery flowery notes? Should I only leave the caps off for 1 day? Is shaking important? I've heard if flavors aren't good out of the box, they won't ever be, and I've heard the opposite that many come back to juices they disliked and later love them.

Whether a juice requires steeping or not really depends on the vendor you buy from. The one I use mixes it fresh when they fill my order. Mine require steeping. Caps and drippers off for 48 hours (for my vendors juices) shake a few times a day. Cap and dripper back on and put them away for a couple of weeks shaking them when I think about it.

Edit: if in doubt, ask the vendor or post the question on their vendor thread. Someone will be able to tell you what that particular vendors juices require.

I completely agree Seouijer, when I first got my first batch of eliquid it was really really strong. It was advertised as menthol, not sure if that meant menthol tobacco or not but it tasted like really minty listerine at first, but after letting it steep just for one day it made such a big difference. It went from tasting like unvapable cool ice listerine to very smooth subtle menthol, just like I wanted. This is very important because when I took my first vape I was like "oh gawd I just wasted a ton of money, doh!", but I looked up info on steeping and was shocked to see the difference within the next few days.

When I first get new juices I usually shake it like my life depends on it then remove the outer cap hold the bottle upright with dripper cap on, squeeze to expel the air
then let air return about four or five times, replace outer cap, super shake again and repeat the air replacement process. replace outer cap and shake shake shake. For the first week I try to do this twice a day as time and memory allow. For the second week once a day. and then every other or third day for a week and a half or so. Then let them set till I am out of my current juices or want a change of taste.

For a little quicker way to get the flavors to come out (some liquids can take up to two weeks to get their best flavor), try heating up some water in the microwave and letting your bottle of juice hang out in there for a bit. the sweeter flavors will really come out. fyi, i have also heard of people letting it sit in the dash of their car on a warm day.
While this will give you the slow heat needed to make it steep quickly, some flavors can actually be affected negatively by being left in direct sunlight.

Thanks I'll give it a try! maybe it will make my mountain oak vapors juices taste better even though they say they are pre steeped before shipping. despite that the juices got great reviews I really don't like them, they just have a weird kind of chemy taste. I know taste is subjective but I can't imagine anyone liking that, my friends who I've let try seem to agree!

so for me to steep my juices .. i have to un cap my bottles and let them sit openly for 1-4 weeks ?

and how do you prevent insects or dust or whatever is in the air from landing in them?

From what I've read you just keep it UN capped for a day or two. Then you let them sit with the caps back on for a couple of weeks so the flavors have a chance to blend.

If your new to vaping your tastes are going to change as your senses come back. I have a few flavors that taste not so great until they steep and have others that tasted bad no matter how long they steeped. I'm vaping a cherry right now thats been steeping a month and now tastes ok but I wouldn't buy it again.

Just two days with cap and dripper off. Shake them periodically. Cap them and put them away for a week or two. Shake them when you think about them.
