May be worth mentioning that if you're going to balance the odds where it is all even, don't call it a contest, just a give away. The power of a subtle suggestion can be amazing, giving people the idea that they are in fact competing for something.

Well... for another 2 cents... a month long contest is a really long contest. It has appeared to me that shipping of the prizes is running at least a month, and some people even longer. While I don't have an issue waiting, it can spread the contest out over two months before product received. Companies could extend the social part of the contest to get more exposure but it seems to me a month long contest in the forum is too long.

Or wake up to 57 alerts because one person quoted every post you made in the thread to get their post count up.
It would be nice if that stopped. It keeps a lot of people from posting more. Sure as hell slowed me down.

Just quoting this post for no reason lmao....

I have this big feeling competition threads are going to die down :X

I am thinking the opposite. Just one post gets you entered in the lower 50%, and 1000 posts gets you entered in both 50% sections. There will be probably 50 people who will creatively spam for post count, and 200 in the under or single post section... the odds will be still weighted towards the spammers.

Ok because we have a giveaway running (and because I want to pick today's winners), I'm going to stick with the 50:50 rule on that.

I will clarify it in the first post and we'll review again before starting the next one - which I can assure you is something everyone is going to want a chance at winning!

Sounds good. :) It's ECF's giveaways, so they should be ran the way y'all want them to. No matter what, not everyone is going to be happy. But the 50/50 idea is a good one.

That's what I was thinking along the lines of (for at least a few prizes), as we're all in the business of helping fellow vapers - I just wondered if the like button was a good way of getting to the right posters
Yeah, like Robino said, the Like button is used for other reasons. a ''Vouch'' or ''recommend''button could only be applicable in certain key areas of the forum. That way, when that ''vouch'' button is used, it reflects the user's implication in the forum community. That could earn him/her extra shots at contests.

And yet throughout the thread they have been referred to as contests, probably even by myself.
just so you know I am not bashing you I understand where you are coming from just couldn't help myself. I will say no matter what ECF does someone will not be happy but thank you @low_tar_neil for letting us voice our opinions

Well even though I haven't read all the previous pages.......I wish to add my :2c:..........
I have no problem with the way they are now...there will always be some moaning from the losers....that's how it is...I have won my share...........but I have also won my share in the lottery & other contests IRL......so I am just a lucky person who has won a few times here....the first couple I didn't win....and I didn't sit around pouting about it....
Yes I may post lots of comments....I don't think I spam.....but try also to keep people interested & respond more.....it's more fun with lots of entries....and if the randomizer is used on the "who replied to this thread" then all is fair........
How many times have we seen people who only posted once win?
The way I see it everyone has a chance to win & it is pretty fair......it is after all a competition.......as was mentioned about award ribbons given to all....IMHO that is not fair...sometime in life you will lose..feelings will be hurt.......when will they learn that lesson?

Thank you for all you do LTN............

Please come back when you do, cause you'll realize it's not about losing or whining or moaning or any of the other things you stated.

Unless you really feel that what you have to say is more important than what everyone else has to say, reading the other posts, gaining insight and understanding the various viewpoints is paramount to the discussion (actually, most discussions). Although as a frequent flier on the giveaway threads, I can certainly see how this has alluded you.

Free stuff giveaway?

Sounds good.

How to make it fair? WHY? Fair is for kids' games.
How to make it fun? It already is. There are some neat people here who post funny stuff... and the rest is inoffensive at worst.

How to make it interesting? Back when I was a young lad, TVs were black and white, and dinosaurs stalked the earth.... there was a giveaway tv show called "Queen for a day". The lady with the most pathetic life story, full of misfortune, injustice, tragedy, etc. won all sorts of useful appliances and tacky consumer goods.

OK. For one, I'm not female, and life has treated me rather well, when I kept out of the way and let it, but here is my (prize winning, pretty please!) story, just to get you folks riled up and anxious to donate all future prizes to me:

My parents left home before I was born. This made the C-section difficult.
Lacking a few limbs, and being four months premature didn't help. When I was surgically separated from my twin, who went on to become the Archduke Emmeroyd of Caspia, I suffered a severe rash in parts unmentionable in a family newspaper.
I was thrown off of the Special Olympics Team when my missing limbs mysteriously regenerated during a 5,000 meter unicycle race.

I lost my job as a writer of country and western lyrics because I am alergic to dawgs, gave my guns away, never owned a pickup, and am happily married to the same fine woman for nearly 43 years.

In short, my tragic circumstances, together with TMI, prove that I am the most qualified to win free vaping products.
