Free stuff giveaway?

Sounds good.

How to make it fair? WHY? Fair is for kids' games.
How to make it fun? It already is. There are some neat people here who post funny stuff... and the rest is inoffensive at worst.

How to make it interesting? Back when I was a young lad, TVs were black and white, and dinosaurs stalked the earth.... there was a giveaway tv show called "Queen for a day". The lady with the most pathetic life story, full of misfortune, injustice, tragedy, etc. won all sorts of useful appliances and tacky consumer goods.

OK. For one, I'm not female, and life has treated me rather well, when I kept out of the way and let it, but here is my (prize winning, pretty please!) story, just to get you folks riled up and anxious to donate all future prizes to me:

My parents left home before I was born. This made the C-section difficult.
Lacking a few limbs, and being four months premature didn't help. When I was surgically separated from my twin, who went on to become the Archduke Emmeroyd of Caspia, I suffered a severe rash in parts unmentionable in a family newspaper.
I was thrown off of the Special Olympics Team when my missing limbs mysteriously regenerated during a 5,000 meter unicycle race.

I lost my job as a writer of country and western lyrics because I am alergic to dawgs, gave my guns away, never owned a pickup, and am happily married to the same fine woman for nearly 43 years.

In short, my tragic circumstances, together with TMI, prove that I am the most qualified to win free vaping products.
You got my vote!

I'm in for however the rules are made.I am sure @low_tar_neil will make it equitable for everyone. Some good input here.I am confused as to what and how the contests are to be played though.

I don't have much imput,if any, on how to make them better and equal for everyone but I can regulate me.I kinda follow the leads of the past contests, but that seems to be puttin me in the spammers catagory and adding to and creating animosity throughout so I'll be more conscientious about posting.Self regulating if ya will.So whatever is conceived,I'll be able to follow it.

I'm in the same boat as you. I had no idea what constituted spamming, I was just having fun.

@low_tar_neil,

Though 'likes' mean little to nothing, please note that the first post suggesting that you pick winners based only on member names and not post counts got the most 'likes' in this thread.

Then the same old contest-high-post-count folks started posting and posting and... well, there you are.

I think you should limit the winners to just Turtles.

Just a suggestion.

I'd really have to agree, how many times have they helped me? A bunch! them helping me has lead to me helping others :)
I agree - it is the best place for help because we get to know each other and feel like a community and we always find new members who stick around for the fun and games. This is the best community I have ever belonged to and I always have questions and will always get answers. sometimes I could only stop in for a few posts a day but it brightens my day because the friends I made here always welcome me!!! I think you are doing a wonderful job with these contests and they are very fairly done:banana: - thank you for all your hard work and whatever you decide :)

OK i've just had a look at some giveaway threads and i felt a bit dirty. There has to be a better way than multiple postings of inane drivel.
Basically if i go on a giveaway thread and post 'hello member, looking good' to every other thread then i'm a shoo-in for a free tank ? I think i'd rather get a paper round and just buy one.
How about rewarding those members who receive multiple likes for posting funny, educational, helpful or informative stuff ?

Feel free to ignore me, i'm grouchy.

So these are the competition rules.....
Contest Rules
posted in 2010 - that may be why there is some search for clarification/ update given that - at the time that was posted - there had never been a contest of the scope or magnitude of those that began with the Innokin Disrupter giveaway... may be a question of relevancy?

I was thinking limiting winners to members of at least 5 years' membership would have made more sense :)

If (admittedly an if) the ECF DB gurus can come up with a post-per-day cap (don't count entries by any one person exceeding some number per day, whether it be 5, 10, whatever), to me that would be ideal for the weighted aspect. Contest chit-chat IS an important thing in building/retaining member participation IMO. I've seen some really boring 1 post or 1 post per day type contests, and locking them down at that level would likely have a negative impact.

Yeah I know it's old as I've noticed people are allowed to enter competitions even on the day they become a member.
