Hi, I'm new to this so excuse any errors :)
I have smoked 20 cigarettes a day for 15 years.
10 days ago I stopped. Cold turkey. It was very hard but I've done it.
I really really miss the hand to mouth sensory side of smoking, the reward at the end of my day.
Should I get a zero nic e cig starter kit? Am reluctant to go back on nicotine after withdrawing and overcoming that addiction.
I fear if I don't start vaping I will return to regular cigarettes. Any advice so appreciated! Thank you x

Welcome and my hat is off to you. Cold turkey has got to be really rough.

go ahead and try zero nic flavors in ejuice. Most vendors supply that option. Lots of members here have been able to reduce their nic over time and eventually go to zero nic for just the reason you described.
good luck and let us know.

:)

You answered your own question. :)

IMHO, you should at least have a vaping device available, something simple like a spinner battery, an EVOD clearomizer, and some zero nic juice, on hand.

Becasue yes, there is something about the relaxation thing for me, that simulates some of the manual behaviors I did when smoking, that makes vaping satisfying.

Even if you don't end up using it, just to make sure you NEVER return to cigarettes, I would purchase 2 spinners/ego twists, a few clearos, and some 0 nic juice to have on hand.

And remember, you don't even have to actually INHALE to just have a satisfying relaxing experience.

Thank you. I really am trying to resist buying e cigs but I am struggling dreadfully with the psychological loss of not being a smoker! The nicotine cravings are gone and I'm thrilled about that but I do feel down and I do really miss the " social" aspect and I guess what I wanted to know was, will the zero nic e cigs fill the void and prevent me from a relapse?
Any opinions gratefully received :)

not sure why tricks would compare vapor to smock and not sure why you cant enjoy nicotine with vaping since you can get all the nicotine you want to satisfy your craving to not want to seek it in a cigarette , i only see the problem of finding the right gear for you that can deliver to your satisfaction... cigarrette sized ecig which is what i think of the word "ecig" will most like not cut it for you. i have a friend who's smocked newports for 20 years just got into vaping, now just has a cigarette here and there... so not sure why you'd have to cold turkey either... seems to drastic..

I'm working on getting down to zero nic...and then plan on dealing with my hand mouth oral fixation at that point. I've relapsed many times when going cold turkey so I can't see how having something on hand with zero nic would necessarily be a bad thing or in your case social situations.

I think at some point you will start to question why you even need the zero nic stuff and then you may just be done. From a health point side it's probably best to only inhale air but if you fear relapsing vaping isn't going to hurt your health very much if any in my opinion.

It's not all hand and mouth oral fixation either. I think part of it is visual, taste, and touch. Tasting the vapor, seeing the vape dissipate from your mouth and nose, feeling the throat hit, etc. You've been the physical addiction now your just dealing with the psychological aspect. Those things also help people cope with life.

I was never able to quit for the very reasons you are presenting. Fact is I do not feel that the nic was really ever what calmed me or gave that... ahhhh it will be okay now felling.......after vaping for a while now the habit was the main reason "for me" that I was never successful. I just flat out liked the activity and vaping has keeped me from even thinking of smoking completely!! I know that a lot of folks say the same thing. But if it worked for me then I think it will for you too. I smoked 1-2 packs a day for 23 years and I have not even had a drag since I started vaping. Does not ever even cross my mind honestly. So it surly cannot hurt you.

As I highlighted above from your post, this (no matter the path you choose) is all up to you. You have come this far and that really is the hardest part! So a big ... congratulations is in order

Good luck :toast:

Edited to add:
I felt I should share that I do still use nic. My current level is 12, I started with 24 and I am confident in short time I will be down to zero. I will actually do 6 on my next set of orders.
Thought you might like to know that.

Have a great Weekend!!

To quote P.Busardo "The safest vaping is not vaping at all". If he can do without, it is best not to start something else. Vaping is not safe, only safer. Just my two cents.

Thanks MR 343 that's a very kind reply. Thanks to all, I will think it over. It was so hard to go cold turkey I don't want to risk messing up but I really do crave the sensory " thing" if that makes sense!!! :)
It makes perfect sense to me. Its not just the nic. Its the whole smoking, vaping experience. The behavior behind the smoking/vaping is what is the real sticking point. You don't have to give up the behavior in order to give up the nic. You have done that already. The behavior(hand to mouth, the social aspect, seeing the vapor/smoke) is what is really addicting. You have had years doing that and can continue safely without any nicotine at all. Don't be afraid. You will love it. The emotional is all a part of the addiction. Since this is an all encompassing addiction, the nic only plays a small part of that. You don't need the nic if you have already gotten it out of your system. Same as caffeine. go for it. And make yourself happy that you were able to beat the nic part.

I would absolutely recommend that you get an inexpensive setup! This is just from my personal experience, though.

I once went over a year, cold turkey. (By an order of magnitude the longest I had ever quit. Second-place was probably 3 days).

Here's the part that sucked - For over a year I WANTED A CIGARETTE EVERY SINGLE DAY! I managed to hold out for about 400 days, but when I fell off the wagon there was no looking back. And falling off the wagon was pathetically easy.

Please don't put yourself in that position. Give yourself an alternative, and I think your "cold-turkey" will be much more likely to work.\

If 0Nic doesn't work well enough, add some nic to the mix; it's still much much better than the alternative!

Congrats but 10 days really won't tell the whole story. I've quit in the past for upwards of 6 months but was missing and craving for something.
5 weeks ago I quit vaping- took me 2 yrs to get to this point stress free and comfortably. The part I missed most was the hand to mouth action- our brains have been rewired to accept the oral action of smoking= reward. I just kept very busy and am ok so far.
My advice: try and go cold turkey but if that fails consider vaping as an alternative...zero nic.
Wishing You the Best of Luck as many of us have been where you're at right now.
...don't plan on vaping again BUT given the choice of smoking versus vaping I'd be quickly dusting off my gear.

A little bit of a story and up-uns on my part...
At the end of the age 70 years I quit smoking cold turkey!
Meaning I had the addiction for waaaaaaay over a half a century and then a very
long then some.... so this old man can really appreciate what you're saying about
the follow up of the habits formed of hand to mouth of the old cig movements.. yes SIR!!!

During that time and after I'd seen those high priced ECigs 4/Sale at a lot of Truck STOPS
as I covered many states across America... and NONE of them interested me one single bit.

And... since my retirement and now a few years later... I heard from an older sister
that her and a friend had been trying out Ecigs... and I laughed and laughed and laughed
and wished her all the luck in the world... that was all of about two months ago.

I then decided to see what she was up to (my sister) and started to search the Internet.
I found out I could enjoy .6 or even .0 eliquids of my choice and a mixture of 50pg/50vg
and get started for under $100.00 and find out weather or not I wanted
to enjoy my own life with ecigs being a part of it. I do! And, I am!

'MY opinion'
If so much as far as even for a second thinking you're going to start buying those
life ending cancer causing cigarrrrettes again...
Instead YOU get started on Ecigs....
you will NEVER BE sorry you began a much better and cleaner way of life!
