Hey all, im smoke free for two weeks now thanks to ecigs. Ive been using nicolite rechargeables but they dont seem to last very long and im getting so many duds. Ive had about 20% of cartomizers purchased not work on me. The battery is also very weak, certainly doesnt last half a day.

Im looking for a cost effective way to carry on e-cigging so looking for some advice. It looks like the refill route is probably best and i would look to bulk buy at the start of the month to get me through.

I like tobacco taste with a decent hit, say 18mg while im still fresh giving up. Im not even sure where to start, there seems to be thousands of options out there and im so confused :(

Welcome cfcboy.

How do I put this?

... thinks... thinks...

OK. So I spent hundreds of pounds on a very similar product to yours, except my refills were £3.99 EACH and yours are £2.30

These products are very poor. I could now write a page on the reasons, but let's just say.... draw a line underneath it.

I can help you. I'll stake my reputation on it.

How much would you consider spending? How many and what type of smokes were you on?

Hi, thanks for quick reply DJ...

Im spending almost £7 on 3 cartomizers at the mo, AGREE they are not cheap and excuse the pun.. go up in smoke very quickly.

I was smoking Sterling Reds and then moved onto rollies when i couldnt afford 20 smokes a day.

Budget. well... anything cheaper than the way im going at the moment thats for sure! I realise there will be some outlay to start but ongoing im looking to spend £50 ish a month (if thats doable?)

I smoked rollies after the cigs got too much. I used to buy my cigs on the Fulham Road.

To get started is going to be anything from £19.99 to £40 or so. You could of course spend £100 on some top kit.

I spend about £10 a week on liquid, accessories and stuff. £50 is doable, no problem.

Have a look around and see what you like the look of. I'd say look at EVOD kit see what you think.

Got to pop out, back in an hour... :)

Only thousands? Keep looking! Seriously, I have 4 ego style batteries, all VV, a protank I use daily, a couple of cheap carto tanks I use occasionally. If I was just starting now, I would probably get an itaste MVP 2 or vv 3. Still would get a protank 1 or 2. They're easy to use, easy to change juice. The real issue will be finding a juice that you like, budget for lots of experimenting on juice...

Thanks for the info guys, yep all going to be trial and error here. Im not too fussy on the taste, im quite happy with the nicolitte taste so anything like that would be fine. Something along the lines of B&H, LB etc would be better though (if such vapour exists).

I can budget for £40 start up costs then £10 a week going forward so if anyone can recommend something on those lines that would be spot on

If you like the form of a cig-a-like and the ease of twist and go vaping, then check out what Thom has at:

Whatever keeps you off the rollies mate...

Best of luck

A simple eGo style setup made me a full time vaper, whereas the cig-alikes were costing me more money than tobacco, and couldn't get me of the coffin nails. I suggest starting with a two battery, eGo style kit. Grab a couple of bottom coil atomizers and a replacement coil or two, and you should have a worry free starting point. As for which juice to use? That's a personal journey that is, in of itself, a reason to continue vaping. Good luck, and happy vaping!

If you are feeling brave... how about

1) Vision Spinner £18-20 or so. plus "mini Protank kit" £19.99 and 1 x iClear16 + extra atomiser head (or 2).

OR

2) iTaste VV v.3 full kit with charger, 5 clearos. £30.

- - -

2 batteries is almost compulsory, but you can vape and charge the iTaste VV.

+ e-liquid. (juice)

So im thinking E VOD Starter Kit (Black) then some juice to test?

Yes, that's the sort of thing. There's no right or wrong. Some people think you should go straight in on Variable power, that's why I posted the other choices.

I use those EVOD batteries with Kanger T3S clearomisers (1.8ohms).

Welcome to ECF and congrats in taking the first step to quitting smoking! I had a ton of questions when I first started as well and you have come to the right place. We are here for support and to help answer any questions you have.

Check out my initial thread as it is packed with a ton of useful information and may answer a lot of the questions you have.

Everyone's opinion and what works for them is different therefore, research is the best advice I can give you. Also if you have a B&M shop close to you, they may be able to help by showing you some different options and you will get a hands on experience.

I was a PAD smoker for over 13 years. I decided on an iTaste VV V3 starter kit ( http://m.ebay.com/orderDetails?item...293041008&skus=Color:Black&varId=480293274996) and with 24mg juice. After a week I was able to step down to 18mg and will be dropping again to 12mg with my next order. I was able to quit analogs immediately but it is important to set goals. Don't forget, YOU CAN DO IT!

Good luck!

Yes. STizZle is wise to recommend something like the iTaste VV.

In reality, a basic 2 battery kit is never wasted, even if you upgrade very soon.

If you use "Mods" then you need a back-up mod.
If you use "Variable voltage/wattage" eGo batteries, you'll need a back-up for them too.

My favourite devices (listed underneath in my signature) are all excellent, but in truth, when I leave for work in the morning, I take one Variable battery and one basic one as a back-up. Both have a clearomiser on top and that's that. Nothing fancy.

If I'm on the road for business, I'll have the MVP in the car and a nintendo case with some spares. I can't remember needing them.

The evod kit will outperform a plastic e-cig by miles. Where you go from there (if you go anywhere at all) is up to you. :)

How is this even possible? For $65 you can get the Volt starter kit which comes with 2 batteries, pcc and some cartomizers.
After the initial purchase your only expense is buying cartomizers which are inexpensive and e-juice.

I'm not using cigalikes but I was a pack a day smoker, so far this month I've only used 20ml of juice. At my local B&M vape shop you can get 30ml for around $20 including tax. Where I live the cheapest pack of smokes you can buy is $9

Are you refilling the cartridges or just tossing them when empty?

It's actually very easy in the UK. Hand rolling costs somewhere from £4-£20+ per week.

Here, you can buy (supposedly) "the best e-cig in the UK" for £10-£15 and then find yourself spending £20 per week on the refills.

That is what so many of the British public are doing. They don't know about refilling and believe the the hype. It's all about the marketing. So many are people wasting hundreds or thousands of £ and not even giving up smoking.

The worst brand of all is so poor (cheap and nasty), refilling rarely works either. It's depressing.
