I've been a straight up vaper for 2 years now. . . protanks, evods, ce4s, LR attys, cartos, you name it.

I've been told that flavor and vapor and overall performance is better with RBAs and RDAs. . .

Spent over $300 on 2 Kayfuns 2 Smoktech RSSTs with air flow caps, Ithaka, UDB, Caterpillar, IGOs, etc . . .

Watched countless videos on wrapping coils, rolling mesh, etc . . .

AFTER 6 MONTHS OF PRACTICE AND TRYING, NONE OF IT WORKS AT ALL . . . ITS NOT AS EASY AS THEY CLAIM . . . IT IS A TASK AND A BURDEN . . . NOT ONE SUCCESSFUL COIL

Ridiculous if you ask me . . . waste of time, waste of money . . .

So, I guess I'll never have that "great vape" and "great flavor" I'm told I will have with an rda or rba . . . too many "secrets" don't want to be shared . . .

whatever . . . :(

If you really have bought all that equipment and never wrapped a successful coil then I am sorry. That's a chunk of change to spend and not get a single reward.

As Forkeh said, tell us a little more about the main issues you were having along with a few more details about what you are trying to wrap with and on (i.e what gauge wire, what are you using as a coil jig) Specific details will let us give you specific solutions.

Wrapping coils is not that hard, nobody should have gone through 6 months of hell without getting a single success - even a crappy coil will vape better than most clearos / cartos.

Are you here to vent or would you like us to try to help you figure it out?

Genesis with mesh gave me fits for months ... when they first came out. I can relate, but micro coils are nowhere near as difficult. In fact lots of folks use micro coils on genesis builds now too.

Maybe keep your normal gear and just focus on a simple micro coil done right, with a dripper or drip tank ie Kayfun, as something to tinker with...

dont give up yet! I've found all the fussing and fiddling paid off. At least you learn what not to do!!!

Wrapping a tight micro coil is about as easy as it can get. If my half blind coworker can do it with ease there is no reason you can't. Not to be rude... the issue you are probably having is with wicking. Everyone always tries to use way too much wick. Second issue is appropriate air flow in regards to heat (resistance/voltage/juice). Like already stated we need more information as to the specifics of your coil, what its in, and what mod you're using.

I understand your frustration to some extent, but as has been said, just try to enjoy it. It is a hobby after all.

I have recently began building coils, and I've been experimenting with it for around one month now. I pick it up, give it a go with a few, then put it down for a few days. I've got my coils looking real good, believe me, I've really gotten the wrapping part down to a tea. As for ohms, this is taking more work than I thought, especially consistent ohms, using the same wrap and wire. I'm learning stuff all the time; I've noticed, today actually, how tightly the coil is squeezed together makes a difference. And what really is the difference between 1.8 and 2.5 ohms when it comes to vaping? What difference does a 1.5 and 2mm wrap make?... I don't know... but I'm working it out and I'm enjoying it. That's not to say I haven't had my moments of pulling my hair out, that's the time to take a few days out.

My advice, take a good break and then go back to it. Much of the stuff you'll probably learn yourself. And, if you do learn yourself, with a little help from youtube, I'm sure you'll end up being an expert.

Genesis tanks are about 3 times more difficult to get working well than a standard 3 post dripper. Pop an igo on, grab some ekowool and wrap some 26 awg wire around it 4 times and stick each end through one post. Boom, instant working single coil. If you aren't ready for micros than don't do them, simple as that.

I have to agree with the former posters. With more information, and possibly some pictures, we can provide very detailed solutions to help get you moving in the right direction. I remember doing my first coil on a mini A7, and it wasn't fun. Now I'm way better, and wicking is definitely the hardest part to master. The tendency is definitely to put too much. I hope you don't give up, as I find vaping to be a very rewarding hobby. Best of luck to you!

Hey don't give up if I can do it you can also. I am 58yrs old half blind and fingers that don't work to good. I built 6 T3s coils tonight in about 1 hour although my first one didn't work but I figured out what went wrong and now I am a expert in my eyes. Your first ones will be a little hard but once you figure out how to get the wraps to hold it's all down hill from there on. Spent $10.00 on wire and wick big savings especially at $3.00 a pop. Hang in there and don't get frustrated. Good luck and happy vaping.

Just spent the last hour building my first sucessful coil, 7 wraps, 28 guage .8 ohms on a Nimbus Authentic. It literally took so much finicky adjustment, about 10 feet of wasted Kanthal, and about 4 hours of trial and error to understand what I was doing wrong, hopefully the next coil I build will be successful.

Just keep at it, I saw this thread and successfully built a coil from motivation that you need to get back on the horse.

I just revisited my Nimbus Authentic RDA the one I just wrapped, it seems as that flavor I didn't like is fading, Ill keep it updated as to if it changes. How often do I change the cotton, every coil re wrap? to me it just seems a lot of hype on organic cotton, which I got for flavor which seems to be either I have terrible juice, or that I am tasting cotton itself. Silica seems like the superior product for all around application.
