i hope your hand is alright, sounds like it is. but what a gnarly place to have a wound!#1
I can't believe that this is my first post of the day. It's been an insanely busy day--and then I topped it off by slicing the crap out of my hand! I keep my plastic bags, plastic wrap, foil, etc., all in one cupboard. I reached up to grab for a bag, and the plastic wrap came tumbling out of the cupboard--the serrated thing on it left about a six inch slice through my palm! I haven't seen that much blood in a long time! It doesn't look that serious, but it's an awkward place.
Hope everyone else is having a somewhat better day. . .
its an insane coil.Q&A time...
Hot, yes.
Like in the pic, the legs/leads are not glowing. All the rest of it is.
Since the cotton wad sits on top of the coils (and spills over onto the deck), it's not so hot and doesn't "spit". I do get a much better throat hit than normal micro coils.
Patience? Mostly dexterity. The first coil goes up, the next one goes down, the next goes up...
I did use reverse action tweezers to squeeze the coils down. I didn't use a torch, I did it just after firing the mod.
I used the straight end tweezers. I haven't used the bent tip reverse action tweezers yet, I imagine they are very similar when used.
I'm not aware of any other atty's that have that amount of space between the posts and a centered deck airflow.
I'm not sold on quad coil RDA's, dual coil should be plenty... but it takes all kinds. Look what I did with just one piece of wire, not many folks even consider such silliness.
Definitely master the single coil before the dual coil. If dual coils are a breeze to make and you still want/need more, try one of the IGO-W3's. Keep in mind that quad coils will end up in the low sub-ohms, you'll need a battery rated for at least 30amps continuous.
Blood pizza? That was terrible, I'm sorry. And, I'm sorry.#3
Doctored up Costco pizza. . .
For sub-ohm, I have a pair of Sony VTC4's (30amp, 2100mAh). That's totally overkill, I never go under 0.8 even with dual coil. I usually use Panasonic NCR18650PD or the newer PF (10amp, 2900mAh), with 10 amps you can "safely" go down to 0.5 ohms. I like a lot of clearance, both for safety and battery longevity. I rarely use a mechanical mod anymore without a Kick 2, all I need for that is a decent 10amp rated IMR or hybrid battery. I like the safety and continuous power output of VV/VW, I'm not the best to answer questions about 0.15 ohm coils (the limit for a 30amp battery). To me, that's just silly.i hope your hand is alright, sounds like it is. but what a gnarly place to have a wound!
hopefully not your writing hand, or your slap-students-upside-the-head hand.
its an insane coil.
eventually ill try a quad, but not expeditiously.
i think it would require a level of patience that i have not surpassed though my zen.
which batteries do you use? i am really enjoying the 30a sonys, enough so that i ordered another pair (restocking)
seems like slowboat.ch is allowing free batt shipments again.
i had more to say/respond. but after taking a call, i forget my train of thought.
Do what? Sure, yeah. OK.4
Schnarph, I won't quote it, by that was and excellent post. Well said and informative. Thank you.
You said that atty is a modified fatty, right?
