"Former U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona, who brought the world’s attention to the dangers of secondhand smoke and pushed for indoor smoking bans, joined the board of a major e-cigarette company last month. Carmona said that it is essential to have a high-quality alternative to traditional cigarettes."

And THIS is why that particular move was brilliant. Not to mention the political/bureaucratic side of things. Instant legitimization.

What gets me is the idea that flavoured ecigs "could get youth hooked on cigarettes." OH, PLEASE! Smokers use ecigs to get OFF cigarettes, not on them.
If a "youth" did try an analog after an ecig, I suspect the response would be "Yuck! gimme back my PV"

In a discussion with my daughter a month or two ago, I told her some groups were using the flavor thing as an argument that would encourage kids to take up e-cigs. She laughed at me, and said; "Dad, e-cigs aren't rebellious, now cigarettes are." Besides if you want an e-juice with a tobacco flavor, you have to add that flavor to your mix. Glad I DIY.

The flavor argument is so silly, maybe kids cough syrup should taste as it was intended and not like cherry or grape. Wouldn't want them to become addicted to cough syrup.
