All of my devices are 801s

Hmm, that is interesting, usually an 801 is a more mellow vape.

I have a a prodigy v1 but it is a 901 as is my prodigy v1 pass through and my glv's are 510.

I am at a loss as to how an 801 can be harsh unless you are vaping at more then 5v with a standard atty.

I just have never experienced it.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to get to this thread. Every 5v GLV will read 7.5..ishv - 8v on a meter, its when you connect the atty that you will get a drop in volts. the resistor takes about 1 1/2 and the atty does as well = 5v..ish depending on how charged your batteries are. I get about 5.5v on a full charge and 5.v-5.2v about an hour or two after it's been in use. I was getting about 3 weeks from a 510 atty before I started using cartomizers. Keep in mind the atty's still worked , they would just get to weak for my taste.

Hello,
I just got my GLV back from Jay, and I was wondering how long it will take to break in. Vapor and TH are minimal and it will only fire well in certain positions. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Any and all help will be appreciated.

When I first got mine, it didn't even fire, but I had to stretch the bottom spring out and make sure the metal in the top cap where the resistor is was in the middle. Make sure both are contacting the batteries. I also just had an issue where it would fire a little, then just quit working altogether, I took the top cap and carefully with some small tweezers, took the part with the wires out and made sure nothing was broken and then positioned them back in and it started working again. It does seem very finnicky, but if you mess around with it a little, it may get it back working again.

You're not using 3V instead of 3.6V batts are you? As far as positioning tho, if it doesn't fire at all in certain positions, and isn't a spring/batt contact problem as redgirl mentioned, maybe it's an atty connector contact problem (the 'staple mod' could help you determine if that's it. Easy to search out, very popular).

I don't know much about these things but what you're describing re so-so TH and vapor don't seem like GLV-itself issues... I think it's usually said that an x-volt battery holder is an x-volt battery holder; however with the GLV containing the resistor for 5V, not sure if that still applies. I haven't heard of low TH & vapor being GLV issues anyway (and mine wasn't that way), nor of there being any break-in period with it, unlike what's said about atties themselves. If you don't get it working right soon I'd probably cut to chase and call Jay if it were me. Good luck!

I use UltraFire 880 mAh protected 16340s from batteryjunction.com (not sure if they're back up again after their recent fire, but I believe those are available at other online batt stores in the US too); and also AW 750 mAh protected from lighthound.com, which are said to actually last as long as many (most?) others claiming a higher mAh, since their claims are actually accurate. Also said to be the safest/most reliable ones available. They're a little smaller too, which works out well for my circa-December GLV, in which iirc the batt tubes are narrower than later models are.

I've been using both with the UltraFire WF-138 switching charger, and recently got the one smokum mentioned too, as that one also charges 18650s which I needed. (The WF-138 also charges 3.0/3.2V rcr123a, which I needed as well! Decisions, decisions!)
