Hello Go-Go nation!
So I get home from work today, and what is in my mailbox - but that "other PV" - the iGo! And if you're now asking yourself - what the hell did I buy an iGo for when I'm perfectly happy with the Go-Go, allow me to explain. Basically, I wanted a second kit. I'm not really sure why - probably an irrational fear that both my batteries or my charger would crap out on me and I'd have to wait 3-4 days before another internet order could get here since at this point a respectable e-cig is not to be found locally. Also, I've been in the habit thus far of buying some sample packs of e-liquid and wanted a smaller carto to try them out in. So, instead of buying a 2nd Go-Go kit and using the KR808 adaptor, I figured I'd try out the iGo. That and it's bonus check month. So weather you iGo or Go-Go, Go-figure.
Anyway - let me bottom line this at the top - THEY ARE BOTH GREAT PVs
The first thing I did - was to fill up a KR808 carto with the freebie sample of juice from Velvet, the peanut butter (velvet blend - 18mg). Considering that the Go-Go was my first purchase - my goodness are 'regular' cartos TINY! (hee hee) - but anyway, about 30 drops later, that carto was filled. Let it sit for a few minutes while I went ahead and filled a iGo Carto with my staple juice - the Orange Spice Tobacco (also from Velvet Vapors in the Velvet Blend at 18mg).
Screw on the regular carto with peanut butter juice. As it is - the draw is almost exactly like the Go-Go. Airy. Excellent Vapor and Flavor. Screwed on the eGo cone that I ordered with the iGo (heard they fit and they do) - and the draw does become much tighter. Not a thick milkshake tighter - but more akin to a tightly packed analog tighter. Vapor and Flavor about the same, perhaps a teeny bit enhanced with the cone on. Insignificant difference as far as flavor / hit / vapor are concerned with or without the cone - mostly just tighter.
Now just for fun since I did buy the KR808 adaptor with my last purchase of blank Go-Carts I screwed the same peanut butter filled carto on to the Go-Go and nada! Did not work - adaptor also did not want to easily come off the Go-Go battery. Once I did get it off (wrapped a paper towel around it) - screwed my Go-Go cart back on and everything was normal. Don't think I like the adaptor route. (with or without the Go-Go Cone). Yes I did toy around with it a bit - and could not get it to function. These are the 'normal' black KR808-1 cartomizers from Nhaler btw. Screwed the KR808 carto back on the iGo -and promptly back in business btw.
Okay - filling the iGo carto with my staple juice. Took maybe a few more drops than a fresh Go-Go cart (as in maybe 5 more drops or so). Just as easy to fill (dripping from the top slanted carto and turning every drop). As I was letting that set, I also topped off my Go-Go carto with the exact same juice. One thing I will say - is that since the iGo carto is a one-piece design (no cone, as it's built into the cartomizer) - it's not quite as easy to clean the battery end once that tell-tale drop comes out the bottom. You basically have to scrunch up a bit of your paper towel and wiggle it in there a touch. Not a deal breaker - but probably worth a mention.
So now I have a fully assembled iGo with tip and Go-Go with a freshly topped off Carto (ps, I've only been using this Go-Go carto with the same juice for about a week - so it might as well be a fresh one anyway).
The iGo is taller and slimmer as others have said. However, it's only about 10-15% slimmer and the height difference is almost exactly the height of the whistle tip that comes with the iGo Carts. Take a few draws off the iGo. Again, tighter than the Go-Go but about like drawing on an analog - you're not 'working' to get vapor. Set down the iGo and take a few draws off the Go-Go with my freshly topped off carto. The 'hand feel' is also a little less pronouced. I think I actually prefer the fatter feel of the Go-Go but again, it's not by much.
Performance in terms of flavor and vapor production are just about on the same playing field. If there's a difference between the two - it's so minimal that nobody is really going to notice. Maybe (and I do mean MAYBE) I touch fuller on the iGo but not by much. Period.
There are a few minor differences however:
* The battery. I'm not concerned about power because 1100 vs. 1300 mah is pretty damn minimal IMHO. BUT - one thing I did notice with the iGo is that when I let go of the button the battery turns off immeadiately. On both of my Go-Go batteries, it seems that the battery stays on for an extra second or so.
*I don't use a drip tip or anything else on my Go-Go cartos so from a 'stock' perspective, the Go-Go is bigger to stick in your mouth than the iGo (that's what she said). I do kinda like the whistle tip - but it's mostly just different. Having said that, I get the feeling that re-filling the iGo carto will be only a touch easier since I don't have to pry off a cap with a paper-clip like I do with the Go-Go. Not that getting a paper clip is a big deal.
Looking inside the iGo carto vs. the Go-Go - they're basically EXACTLY the same design. If you're familar with one - you're good to GO with the other. Since I just got this in my hands about 90 minutes ago - clearly I cannot comment on how the iGo carts will clean up vs the Go-Go - but I expect that should be on the same playing field as well. Keep in mind - that at this point both iGo cartos and Go-Go cartos are $3.00 a pop so that's dead even as well.
Oh - and if anybody cares, the LED on the iGo is orange and the on the Go-Go it's blue. So there. Also, the finish on the iGo does appear to be slightly more of a 'matte' finish and there's no logo of any kind on the battery - for what it's worth (not much outside of a mention).
Overall, I'm glad I got an iGo. However I still love my Go-Go and will probably use that more day-to-day. If for no other reason than I have more Go-Go carts and filled ones fit so perfectly into an Altoids tin it's easy to carry a few extra flavors around. The iGo carts with the whistle tip have to fit in the long way and you can't carry as many (about 2 less). Also, since the Go-Go has a seperate cone, I can use an Avery 1/4" label on the bottom part of my Carto to tell me what juice is in it and it's hidden by the Cone. The iGo's one piece design means I'll have to come up with something else to flavor label.
What I do expect I'll use the iGo for is my new-juice testing device with a standard KR808 carto and no eGo cone to give me the roughly same feel as the Go-Go just smaller and cheaper carto costs when I come across a flavor I really don't like (the freebee sample of White Chocolate Hazelnut, I'm looking at you! - made me clean a carto after a single fill).
So there you have it. VERY early impressions of the iGo from a Go-Go user. If I had to pick one over the other - I'd probably say Go-Go but really that's most likely from a "never get over your first love" perspective - and I'm not as confident (at this stage) with the iGo in my jeans pocket. That whistle tip height difference does have an ever so slight impact there. Plus I like to keep a Carto-condom on the top of my Go-Go cart when I'm not using it so it 'feels' a little cleaner being carried around.
Oh, and the peanut butter juice? Interseting - kinda like peanut butter that melts slightly when putting it on warm toast (only without the toast flavor). It's good, and I'll finish the bottle - but not sure I'd order more.
Cheers! and Keep on Vaping!
