Lowering nic level just happened naturally for me. I started at 12 and went to 6 pretty much right away because I liked it so much, I was chain vaping - just getting too much nicotine. I'm talking headaches and a wired, restless feeling - no fun.

vaping at 6 mg lasted till I learned to rebuild and lower coil resistance. Once you start producing billowing dense clouds of vapor, the nicotine delivery is just way more efficient. At that point, 6 mg becomes too much... so I dropped to 2. These days I vape zero when I'm just in the mood to blow clouds and enjoy the vapor, and 2 mg if I get a nic craving. But 2 mg when you're sub ohming is like 6-12 out of a clearo on an Ego, so I'm not really sure I have accomplished much health-wise.

nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known to man ... it's only natural that many people would choose to reduce that addiction down to zero.

IMO most people find nicotine not very addictive. I find nic not addictive at all. I use it when I feel like it and it's not a problem. I found cigarettes very addictive as most people do. There is a lot more in cigarette smoke than nicotine ;)

SoCal, baby!
I find I am more addicted to the sensation of taking a pull, tasting the smoke/vapor, feeling it as I exhale.....I guess you could say I like smoking. but I did not like the burnt taste of ciggs or the leftover smell, etc. For a long time I had switched to hand-rolled tobacco so I could roll thinner smokes, lowering my nic intake while still enjoying. Then cutting a few out per day. Then came vaping, and a year of weaning off ciggs mostly due to the fact that eGos suck and I'm a very rough handler (read: I broke a ton). Finally a VV and I was down to one or two ciggs, and 11mg juice. Did not notice anything when changing from 24 to 11mg. Once I got my first RBA and Mech mod, it was finally goodbye ciggs (a dependable, well flowing alternative allowed me to drop em). A week of that thing and I was mixing 0mg with 11mg and the taste was just getting better and better. Now I'm all 0mg, chain vape with awesome flavor, and now the wife also doesn't complain if I vape and the baby is in the same room, since its just flavored fog now.

Going to 0mg took that last physical addiction out of the smoking for me. Now its merely a hobby that is cheaper than my addiction was, and I no longer wheeze after skating. The flavor seems to be cooler and creamier than the nic'ed juice, so all around switching worked great for me.

The problem being there are also studies that point to it being a risk factor in the first place...

Absolutely correct. Right now there is no 100% certainly that nicotine is a deterrent to dementia and alzheimer's for everyone but reading the studies on the subject I do lean toward believing that there are benefits for many people. Honestly I'm not certain the small amount of nicotine I use would be enough to benefit me, but on the other hand, neither do I think the small amount of nicotine I use will be a negative should it prove to be a risk factor for some people. :)

I am totally convinced that nicotine itself is NOT the horrible substance we've been led to believe. It certainly may still have some risk, but not the risk many people perceive. So many people today have made the words "nicotine" and "burning tobacco from cigarettes" symonyms that its extremely hard for many to separate the two.

My logic, whatever that is worth ($.02?), each time I reduce my nic levels is one more step away from analogs. When I started transitioning away, I bounced between 24mg & 18mg. Now I'm down to 6mg exclusively, and will flirt with 0 in a few months. I see 0 as a win in this battle.

No battle for me. I just swapped for something that I like more than smoking and bonus is that it's far less harmful, if at all.

There is no, none, zero question in the mainstream medical community that nicotine is highly addictive. To suggest nic will add to ones health is simply put…insane. Alcohol is also addictive and our society has decided how to handle its use and I for one hope we get reasonable regulation on vaping so that extreme regualtion is avoided.

Addiction is physical and is not something that can be denied by choice. Do enough of an addictive substance over a periodof time and you will become physically addicted, simple biology.

Being unreasonable and denying simple science etc. is one of the reasons why the vaping community is becoming viewed as teeneagers being teenagers. No regulation of any kind…please spare the adults, people are inhaling a substance.

Its really a shame as I enjoy vaping but see the writing on the wall. Insisting nic is not addictive. Insisting on no regulation and letting any kid with some chemicals start mfg, then selling ejuice over the internet will 1)eventually get someone or many very sick and 2) take us from a need for reasonable regulation right into overregulation. Mark my words.

I don't understand why some people keep lowering their Nic so they can vape only 0 Nic. What's the point? E-cigs aren't particularly addictive and Nic is no more harmful (or harmless) than Caffeine. Do they drink decaffeinated drinks and 0 alcohol as well?

for me, nic is more addictive than caffeine or alcohol,,,,,,,,I only drink alcohol occasionally,,,,,and I drink about 1/2 a cup of coffee per day,,,,,,

I don't care to be addicted to nic any longer,,,,,,now I can go hours if I have to without vaping,,,,if I have to

also, I love to vape,,,,,,,and I vape A LOT,,,like 14 ml a day,,,I'd kill myself if I tried to vape that much nic juice

0mg nic is the answer for me,,,,

It certainly has the potential to be addictive - there are people who have never used tobacco, started using the gum, and go through full withdrawal if they stop.

They're chemically addicted, no doubt about it.

The question really is the propensity to get addicted at the population level. It is dependent on people's culture, their personality, and probably their neurology too, but it's also intrinsically different for different substances.

I am trying to get there because my company charges you more for your insurance if you are on any kind of nicotine. On top of that what will it hurt to finally be off of everything i have been adicted to all these years. I want to be able to say i won the war not just the battle. I love vaping and I am sure that even if i get down to zero i will keep doing it. I like fiddling and getting all this vape mail is like christmas all year long. The more things i get to rebuild i think the easier it will be to go down. I told my wife last night that the next time i order liquid i am going with all 6. right now i have gone down from 24 to 12.

I DIY so I was able to make juice to my own intermediate levels and go down in smaller jumps.

If you buy your juices premade one option is to buy 2 bottles one in the higher nic level and once in the next level down and mix them in a larger bottle. That will give you an intermediate step rather than the big jumps should the big jumps end up being a problem.

No one is saying that Nicotine is not addictive. But how addictive Nicotine really is? This question has been raised by many people who switched from smoking to vaping. Many find they no longer have the urge for the Nicotine "hit" as they used to have when they smoked.
New studies are coming up that suggest that Nicotine alone is not as addictive as when combined with all the other numerous chemicals in commercial Tobacco. As a smoker, I could not go half a day without a cigarette. Now as a vaper I don't care if I have it or not and never even carry my e-cig with me. So argue with me how highly addictive Nicotine is when used alone in e-cigarette.
Anyway, I'm starting to have a Caffeine withdrawals since I didn't have one in three hours so I better go and get my fix. Not something I need when I use e-cigs thank you.
