Hi all,

I have been a vaper for around 3 years now, Was using pre made coils for 2 years and then switched to making my own a year back.

I buy many RTAS because I end up hating it after a week or so because the flavor sucks.

Right now i have

Limitless RDTA
Aromamizer supreme RDTA
Crius OBS
Wotofo Mini
Wotofo Serpent
Bellus
Goliath
and the list goes on and on.

RDA: Geek Vape tisuami RDA - I dont see how people use RDA'S as the flavor is disgusting from my experience.

So here is my experience with the following wires

These are all made with 25 or 30 with a UD coil winder

Clapton: 24/32g 5-8 wrap = tastes ok sometimes but then gets ruined very fast

Kanathal: 5-9 wrap 24g = same as above tastes ok and gets screwed fast
( tried 26/28 and no improvement)

Titanium: 26 and 28g and build with 5-8 wraps and this is the worst wire i have ever tried.

SS hcigar: This is the only wire that gives me really good taste, I uploaded a picture at the bottom with a spaced build i did and again its loosing flavor. 24g 66watts / 0.18 / 520-550F in TC on a rx200.

Now I read on this forum that some people dont rewick or rebuild a coil for days, I have to BUILD EVERY SINGLE DAY, not a day that goes by that I don't need to rebuild, I dry burn and then rewick but it gets disgusting after 1-2 hours of vaping.

I am very picky when it comes to liquids so right now im using beard vape co 51 and kings crest dutchess.

Anyone have any input for me ?

I don't know why you feel the need to continually rebuild. Your build looks fine. The problem is with your wicking. Your wicks are burnt, which is leading to the foul taste. It's tough to give an opinion as to why, without more information, like airflow, PG/VG composition of the juice, wicking technique, allowing time for the wicks to saturate before vaping, etc. But obviously, if you're burning wicks in a couple hours, the wicks aren't keeping up.

I doubt your problem is equipment. You've used a bunch of tanks and you obviously know how to make a coil.

As an experiment you could try using unflavored juice for a few days. It's generally reckoned that you don't even need to put in a new wick for a week or several weeks if you do that. I've done that myself with straight VG or very small amounts of flavoring. If you can vape unflavored for a week without getting the bad taste then that points to flavoring being your problem.

If you try unflavored and you still need to rewick or rebuild every day then I guess you just have a sensitive palate. I've seen posts here from people who are in that situation. Some folks can't use flavoring, or can only use very small amounts. You said you are picky about liquids, maybe you are in that group. It think someone referred to folks like themselves as super-tasters. Maybe you could experiment with diluting your juice as well.

Good luck

The build looks pretty similar to how I build on the Limitless Plus. I've been getting really nice flavour from that RTA, I have been using kanthal.

One thing you might like to try.. Cut the wicks so they terminate just below the underside of the build deck (have a look at some youtube videos, I think DJLSBVapes has one... Showing a different wicking technique). It means you have to tilt the tank as the wicks don't dangle into the juice, but I found it does improve wicking, and also juice capacity.

Well i hope your wrong but it might explain why i have over 50 bottles of prem liquid i dont even touch, even after steeping. I cant smoke anything from 9 south vapes and i have every single juice from them. Living in Dubai I cant try juice before i buy it so i read reviews and buy based on that, I always thought to myself that maybe those 20+ people saying this and that juice was amazing don't have any idea what they talking about.

I have tried that as well, does not seem to make a difference, I just thin out the ends of the wicks and it seems to do the trick.... what do you wick with ?

I've tried Cotton Bacon 1.0 and 2.0. The flavour of 1.0 was a bit off (maybe too much cotton flavour). 2.0 seemed an improvement. But I personally struggle a little with the cotton "wads". I much prefer the sheets of cotton (easier to maintain consistent wick thickness/density). I believe I have some kendo cotton somewhere, haven't tried it yet.

Ps, I've just read online that apparently Koga cotton is unique in its manufacturing process (according to Koga themselves, dunno how they can make that claim). But maybe give it a try if you haven't already had Koga specifically.

It is a bummer when you seem to continually strike out with builds and wicking. When was the last time (what device) you had good flavour?

thanks , Ill look into it.

Last tank was OBS CRIUS, it had amazing flavor but still had to rebuild daily. Its driving me insane, it was with a rx200.
