I love the boge 2.0 ohm cartos on my ego batts, I usually at least get a week out of them with the liquids I use and usually replace them after a week no matter what, they're cheap at quite a few vendors, just got my 50 stainless from nitelitevapor today. I had about 35 of the EMDCC's from smoktek and like the boge's a lot more

I think your problem is the tastyvapor juices.

Some of the tv juices can ruin a carto in a couple hours (geoffs blend and cherry cola come to mind) while some are a little better ( waffle and atomic cinnacide). I have gotten to the point of considering tv atty juice only.

I'll have to watch out for that. I haven't tried any premixed nic juice from TV, but I just recently cut a custom 2oz. Doubler from them with a 60ml bottle of PG nic juice from RTS. The final mix ends up 85%PG:15%VG. I haven't had any troubles so far with my E-Cig Supply generic 510 cartos (3ohm) and 1000MaH eGo, but that could be due to my specific equipment or the particular mix I'm using. I will say that TV's flavors are insane (in a good way). I didn't notice a significant diminution of flavor after diluting the juice by 50%, which says a lot, so I totally understand the OP's desire to continue using them.

Also every juice I tried from Tasty Vapor (about 6 juices) tasted great but had a lot of flavoring sediment.
Do you have any experience with their tobacco flavored juice, by any chance? That was going to be my next mixing experiment.

Hm.

I'm going to try ordering the TV juice with a higher PG content than what I have been and see if that helps. I may also try some of their less syrupy flavors, or get some unsweetened, just to see if it makes a difference.

I hope so, because I can't see myself giving up the juice lol. I have used e-cigs for 2 years now, and it wasn't until I had TV that I quit even having the occasional smoke, because I finally found a taste that I preferred OVER cigs, rather than a taste I would put up with instead of cigs.

That said, if anyone knows of any good juices that won't clog the carts, but also doesn't taste like alcohol/chemicals, I'll definitely give it a shot. :)

Sounds like a good idea. Keep in mind I'm relatively new to e-cigs and brand new to mixing my own juice, but I would recommend 20% VG min. for vapor production. My current 15% batch tastes great and gives great TH but the lack of vapor is noticeable compared to the 20% VG juice I was using previously. Funny how a small change can make such a difference, but it sure has in this case.

I should start off by saying that I really do love cartomizers, and part of the reason why is that I would also blow through atomizers like crazy when I used them. Typical atty would last me 2 weeks, max. Cartomizers last me a day or two, no matter which ones I try. It's cheaper to replace the cartomizers than the atomizer, so there you go. So far I've used about 5 different brands, including the clearomizers (leaky .......s) - everything from low resistance to dual coil (or both).

So, I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong to go through these so quickly. Is there a trick to making them last longer? Or is this just the price I must pay for my heavy-vaping habit?

I don't know if it's because I burn them too hot, use them too often, need to blow them out randomly...what?

I exclusively vape Tasty Vapor juice, and I know some of the juices (Geoff's Blend, for example) can be hard on attys and cartomizers, but this was happening way before I discovered the delicious goodness of TV.

Oh, also, I do try to clean them. I've tried boiling them, hitting them with steam from my high-powered steam cleaner...but by the time I blow through them, I think it's just too late to revive them enough for much re-use.

I use an Ego battery (the smaller one), if that makes a difference. And I tend to vape pretty much consistently throughout the day while I work (writing), drive, or whatever else.

I'm open to any and all suggestions. :)

Thanks!

On the Clearomizers, the new ones are very different...new plastic type, new materials. So IF you liked the way they vape, they are worth a second try. You won't get leaks with the new Fluxomizer/CE2 Deluxe. They used to use polycarbon plastic, like is used to make plastic sun-glasses lenses, which is somewhat brittle indeed. Now they use a different formula more like you'd find a medical hypo syringe.

Next...
Are your atties and cartos actually 'dead' or do they just get weak and stop tasting as good?

Whatever atties/cartos you use, seriously consider moving up to a bigger battery VV or VP mod.
Why? You can gradually keep upping the voltage instead of bothering with trying to 'clean and resurrect' weak atties. They'll fire on and work great for many more days...weeks even.

You can find inexpensive VV box mods here on the forums.

There are also now some inexpensive VV eGo models that can take you up to around 4.5v.

Mid priced units that are really really fine are things like the notcigs.com Infinity or Buzz Pro.

Higher priced mods like the Darwin or Provari take VV even further, and implement techy stuff like meters, auto controls, extra safety features, and so forth.

Both the mid and upper range mods hold their trade/resell value really really well if you eventually quit vaping, or decide to try something 'new' just for the heck of it.

VV or VP will pay for itself fast in terms of the extra atty/carto life you can milk from them.

They'll also safely drive things like the Dual and Triple Coil cartomizers for hours of trouble free, flavor full, warm, plumes of vapor :)

That's what I said earlier. I don't think getting the juice in higher PG will solve the problem. It's all because of the sediments. My cafe caramel juice is 80%pg and clogs up MUCH quicker than my 85% VG juice because of the sediments. Juices without sediments I get about 2-3 weeks out of a ressurector carto. The longest I've gotten was 5 and a half weeks out of one carto. It was still working pretty well too, I just was in the mood to use a fresh Ressurector so I threw it out.

I would check out BlueMist vapor. They have a huge selection and great prices. 250+ premade juices and 250+ flavors for DIY. You can get 30ml for $10 or 10ml for $5. They also have sample packs which I would get so you can try a bunch of different juices. They also offer extra flavor shots for .50 cents more. And if you do find a juice you like, they offer a 180ml bottle for $30. You can't beat that deal. It breaks down to $5 for 30ml.

Haven't lost a carto in 3 weeks prior to doing this I was using 1 a Week there is some good vendor tanks as well if you don't like the DIY side of it. I keep 3 filled with different flavors tobacco, fruity, sweetlike I like being able to see my voltages and adjust and check my cartos without guessing easy to fine tune your vape with some of the vv mentioned above.. ProVari for me at the moment.

Whew. Looks like I've got quite a bit of playing around to do. :)

I will check out the juice that was recommended, stock up on some Boge cartos, and maybe even grab a couple of the resurrector carts just for kicks. I really hate to give up my TV juice, but I think I can make it work if I save the TV juice for when I'm out clubbing (the times I'm most likely to grab a cig instead of a vape) and maybe use the "gentler" juice when I'm home or driving around. It seems that would at least cut down on the number of carts I go through.

I just boiled a batch of them to see if I can bring them back, but it's not looking good. I usually don't even bother trying to clean them, but I figure it's worth a shot.

Oh, and someone asked what I meant by them going bad. I mean the draw gets tight, what little vapor there is tastes bad (and it's a lot of work to get anything out of it) and something about it starts making me cough like mad when I use a worn out carto (which never happens when I've got a good one). It literally gets to the point where I can't use it anymore.

Thanks everyone for all the replies! I'm happy to have some different things to try now!

A tank? This is the first I've heard of a tank setup for a carto...is it a mod?

Here is an eGo with a carto in a tank

    Got mine here...$8!

LR Chibi Tank Mod (boge 2.0)

@ty, boiling doesn't work that well for me, I use a plunging motion with a baster type syringe with a carto condom on the end to fit over the carto. It forces water in & out, it also works well to push out the excess water when done rinsing, that said, don't bother washing TV cartos, it won't help.

For cleaning cartos here's how I do it
Go to Walmart and purchase an Oral Med Dispenser-approx $2.00.
Attach the carto to the oral Med dispenser- the cone that's included with the dispenser connects perfectly between the carto and the dispenser. Pull and push hot water in and out of carto 10- 15 times. Next push and pull air 45-50 times in and out of the carto. Immediately ready to use but the first few hits will be "watered down". The only difference I've noticed is after cleaning the cartos do not accept as much juice as when new.
Here's a video illustrating the cleaning process. Credit to Osmitty
    KR808D-1 Carto Cleaning: Quick-n-Easy. - YouTube

    Filling cartos
The first fill of a carto the the most important. Get a blunt needle and while holding the carto horizontal squeeze some juice into the batt end. Immediately place the carto down on a flat surface and roll back and forth many times. This ensures juice gets down to the batt end of stuffing. I then fill the stuffing at the top end until the stuffing looks like a "slushie". Finally blow the excess out the batt end into a paper towel.Clean off the threaded battery end. Once you get the hang of it you won’t have to blow/ waste juice this way. If it is not filled properly the element will burn out and/ or the taste will be burnt. Many times I've overfilled a carto and hear the gurgling sound and have "rolled" it on a flat surface and the gurgling sound has disappeared. In my experience it seems the batt end of the carto is always starved for juice.
    Cheers, Vapoor.

Boil your METAL (plastic will melt) cartos in water for 15 mins....

....The only difference I've noticed is after cleaning the cartos do not accept as much juice as when new.

Carto filler is also plastic. It will melt, warp, and change consistency if you boil it. That's why your cartos don't hold the same amount of juice.

Hot water rinse if you must for changing flavours, but boiling, or rinsing, or even sonic cleaners will not clean the coils of your carto which is the whole point of cleaning.

Cartomizers are disposable items. Fill and vape 'til you're not satisfied with the output and chuck 'em.

Thank you very much. Another problem/ issued solved thanks to the great members here. I was wondering about the tubes falling over and thought maybe they needed ...... :D

    Lol, np.

I used to disassemble my Go-Go cartos, rinse the 2 filler sheets, carefully bathe and dry burn the horizontal coil (Do Not Do this with a carto with filler or a vertical coil carto!), reassemble and squeeze another week or so out of it. But I found that I found the cost of a new carto over the long run, was a much better value than wasting my time and effort on cleaning them.

Plus, nothing beats that new carto crackle ;)

Is there a tutorial around here anywhere for punching/drilling your own cartos for use in a tank, by any chance? My search-fu is still weak here.:confused:

Websites speak of "hammering" a nail hole but in all the research I've done the dremel is the tool of choice.

    Edit: From a Supplier
"We use 3/32", but we don't think it matters too much on Boge's, what size the holes are or how many you make within reason. You can even dremel a slot instead, if that's easier. We drill 2 holes in Boges, kept 1/8-1/2" above the Delrin cap.
Dual-Coils are alot more sensitive to the size and amount of holes that are used. For Dual-Coils, we use and recommend only 1 - 3/32" hole kept just above the cap level.

As we test, evaluate and eventually sell other cartos, we will keep DIYers advised on what each carto requires to work best.
Key thing is to barely break the surface with the hole in all cases."
