The 510 1.5ohm smok I bough at the same times as my VV works nicely.

But why don't you want an rebuildable?

Making the coils and wicks are really easy, waaaaaay easier than a genesis rba. I made my first wick for my VV yesterday, and I got it right on the very first try. Making the next will take less than 5 minutes. I have the standard reomizer.
And the vape is way better with the RBA than the standard atomizer.

Just saying...... ;)

Basically, because I'm afraid I would screw it up and blow my face off. And I kind of like my face, wrinkles and all.

Which one do you use that is easy to rebuild? Maybe I'll check it out. No promises though. :p

You won't blow up anything. :)

I have the Reomizer: http://www.reosmods.com/index.php?p...category_id=32&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=3

The good thing is that it comes set up with a wick and coil, so you're good to go at once.
If you don't have a mod that can measure resistance, you'll need to buy a multimeter or a handy box like this: Meters : Cartomizer and Atomizer Ohm Meter

IMO, if you want to experience a Reo fully, RBA is the way to go. :)

Can I measure resistance on my Provari mini?

How do I know which gauge wire to buy and which wicking material? And do I have to use toenail clippers like I saw in the video? :p

The Provari is perfect for the job, no problem.

Kanthal 32 wire and 2.5mm silica wick is a good start. :)

No toenail clippers needed haha.

Okay, thanks. I think I'll give it whirl. I do want the best possible experience and I am kinda handy, so I should be able to handle it. But if my face blows off, I'm going to haunt you for eternity. :p

Helpful thread, thx for starting it Jude. Quick question of my own: do people generally recommend the reomizer for the non-VV REO grand? I've personally had frustrating experiences with rebuildables and that was on my provari with short protection. I'll be livid if I mess up my Grand.

My intro into rebuildables is with a reomizer and it's very very easy! The posts are wide apart and overall it's very forgiving. I haven't built one yet that didn't work. It may take some tinkering to find how many wraps, preferred wick and preferred wire gauge you like, but once you find what works for you, it's super.

If you use cotton wicking, it's easy to leave the coil intact and just replace the wick. I've got a coil in use for about a week and half now and just replace the wick after I remove the old and do a quick dry burn for cleaning. Vapes wonderfully!

Jude, don't be too worried about an RBA going south on you. I'm a newb to all this, was quite worried before I had one in hand...but after a week of use these are not a big issue to me & they perform SO MUCH BETTER.

I've been using an actual multi-meter to check everything. Super easy to use, plenty of videos on youtube to show you the process.

Thanks to feedback on ECF I ordered 30 gauge Kanthal wire & some silica thread, but with the thread there are numerous options (like cotton or bamboo yarn from a fabric store). With the wire, you choose the thickness (the gauge) and that's it. Seems like the RBA's I've purchased come with 32 gauge wires in place, but they are really thin. The 30 gauge looks quite a bit beefier which s/b easier to handle & use for the long run. The thicker wire should stand up better to constant heat up/cool down cycles.

Just my opinion, but the $30 spent on the Reomizer was well worth it.
