Okay, just to confuse poor saps like me, one video showed the guy wrapping the wire around the coil (on the Reo site) and then putting it through the posts while the link Blix posted showed the guy making the wire loops first and then feeding the wick through. Does it matter which you do?

By the way, ordered a Reomizer thingy, some wire and some wicking material, so Blix, cross your fingers that I still have my face by next week because I don't think I'll be as friendly as Casper when I'm a ghost.

I'm not a pro like some others here, but this is what I've found.

If you use a silica wick, wrap your coil around it (you might want to use a sewing needle alongside the wick when you wrap then you'll have something to hang on to when you thread the ends of the coil into the posts. Then you just slide out the needle.) Dont wrap too tightly or you'll stifle the wicking ability.

Or if you choose to use cotton, wrap your coils around a toothpick. Use the toothpick to help mount the coil on the atty. Remove the toothpick and wick it by using some kanthal folded in half for a needle to run the thread through the coils.

Thank you! That answers the question nicely.

I won't haunt you if my face blows off. :)

You're welcome. Be sure to look at this handy dandy step by step with huge pictures tutorial on rebuilding the reomizer by JuiceJunky. You can't get any better than that!

And yes, you need to meter them for the first few times at least until you get the feel for what you like and get a process down. I meter mine when they are on the atty. Since they go on a VV, I'm not too picky but they generally end up in the 2.0-2.2ish range.

Rebuilding is easier and much more fun than I thought. I just started last night and I am loving it. There is a wealth of info here in the REO threads.

I ventured "out" into other parts of ECF (out of REOvill) and it is much more convoluted, mainly talk of vivi nova rebuilds, dripping attys...but there is still a lot of good reads.

You can do it Judy!

Thanks, drifter. I hope so. I find that outside of Reoville, some people are good at giving the basic instructions needed while others like to use lots of complicated jargon. Some of those just like tinkering and sharing their discoveries with other tinkerers, but some just seem to like to show off. I think between the video on the Reo site and the amazing pics JuiceJunky posted, I should be alright. I'll let you know when it all gets here. :)

Nice avatar, BTW

Ah, you came back! I figured you were hiding out, just in case there was any face-blowing-up going on.

Yes, everyone here has been very helpful and friendly. :)

Lol, I figured I'm far enough away to be relatively safe. :D

As for how you wrap the wire, I'm sure both methods works fine. I've only tried making them using a small screwdriver to wrap them around. It seems to work nicely so far. Threading the wick through the coil was the hardest part, but I got it in a couple tries.

What kind of wire is that blix? Is that nichrome? I like how its flattened out unlike the Kanthals that I use...
