You seem to have a LOT of good things to say about the provari radius. With all the love you have for it why is it your second choice? Is it just the price?

Yep. It's the price. My thoughts in this thread are driven by what YOU want and not what mod I may like and I've got a reasonably large collection of devices. All of which have pluses and minuses. :) ALL mods have pluses and minuses :) but it's not about that it's about YOU. :)

BTW, If your "wish list" has changed it might be helpful to post it again so folks can try their best to offer suggestion.

Maybe one of these?

Innokin disruptor.
LiPo cell
Built in charger, pass through,
Regulated 50 watts ( no TC, but seriously we are talking about deployed servicemen, not vape bar flavor chasing).
Extra cells are available too.

So for you personally it would be your second choice. I thought you meant for my needs it would be your second choice.

For YOUR NEEDS and ONLY your needs:

1st - MVP Pro V3 - sealed so it's a throw away after about 300 full charge cycles. Sealing adds integrity in this case.
2Nd - Radius

For Me:

LOL. Does it matter. I'm not in the military. When I was deployed a lot of our members were not even born although I think Bird Cornell retired1 may have been around. /lol /joke Before vaping was invented. I didn't smoke cigs but I did partake of that _____________ like many of my brothers in arms during the Vietnam War. :)

Send me to a desert island and tell me I could only take one Mod and one topper and it would be the ProVari 2.5 with a KFL+ V2. I would build it so it fires. Today the Radius for me would be near the top of my list and the MVP Pro V3 would be near the bottom but that's only for me.

:)

If i would go where i was again, it would be chi you or something like that straight mech with nice locking ring so i dont have to worry if there is a sudden action if my mod is positioned well in my pocket or not, just twist the lock and youre safe to go, and for a topper yeah, although i dont like the vape from kayfuns, but i would take one KFL 2+ since i had it and it is really tough nut to crack when is full ss tank. I actually dropped that thing down the stairs together with nemesis, he rumbled down the stairs for 4 floors. Drip tip broke, nemesis locking ring got stucked, tank got couple dents but. He was still perfectly usable. If nothing else, those Kayfuns are sturdy...

I am sure the OP has not checked this thread in a while.. it seems to go off on a tangent of mech mods Vs. regulated mods. Everyone was forgetting his main goal, and that was the idea of having a mod that can charge the battery on board. Reason being, so he doesn't have to carry extra gear. One mod, one battery in that mod, and one cable to charge.. that's it. He wants the most durable mod he can get with those criteria, since he will be deployed.

Reo grands help cut down the clutter, but they are mechanical, made of aluminum, and cannot be plugged in. Although durable and nice, they don't fit his needs.

King/Chiyou, or any other mechanical mods are certainly more durable, but having to carry around a charger that might not last in the field is not a good thing and doesn't fit his needs for that reason. Locking ring or not, if the coil gets banged around and causes a short, he either has to use a penny fuse and have it go off not having a mod, have it vent, or some other disaster.

Now, with regulated mods, I suggest you get something with a steel body. Aluminum is strong, but still soft and prone to bend. That's why I'd recommend something stainless steel. unfortunately, most regulated mods are made from aluminum.

And having a charge port usually dictates single battery, Since I don't believe there is such thing as a dual battery mod with a charge port. The only mods I know of that fit that description is the Koopor mini, cloupor mini, and the Kanger Kbox mini platinum. I can attest for the cloupor mini+ 50w as a solid device, the others I do not know of but are worth checking in to.

I hope the OP still reads this thread... good luck.

You forgot the SX Mini ML. It's made of zinc and has a charging port. It's one of the most reliable mods on the market today.

First time in the desert, huh?

Good luck using those notoriously unreliable on-board chargers filled with "desert".

With a mech you can safely store the charger, and carry extra cells.

Most regulated devices will have issues with the heat and dust.

They will all eventually fail.

Military grade durability and regulated vaping device are two words that don't belong in the same sentence.

We can make bad suggestions all day long but in the end, there is really only one truely reliable solution.
Mechanical.

You can tell the OP what they want to hear, I'll tell them what they need to hear.

1. Not my first trip to the desert, or my second. It's my first trip vaping. Figured I would try to get help and advice from those that have gone as vapers and made the mistakes already so I do not have to.
2. No one is telling me what I want to hear. In Fact, several have said this is what fits what you want but I think a mech would be more reliable and durable. I understand that. However, I do not want a mech. It does not fit or suit my personality, taste or life style.

If you are active duty, they DO in fact fit your lifestyle.
Maybe not your personal tastes, but again, didn't you say you were military?
Get the right tool for the job.

Mechanicals are tailor made for harsh conditions.
Again, this may not be what you want to hear but it's the truth.

Good luck and stay safe.

So the winner is the provari radius. I contacted provape and they will honor their warranty even if it's environmental due to being deployed. The price and risk of it not coming back was the big thing that had me second guessing it. Now that's gone. Also, it's made in the good ol' U S of A. It didn't go from design to the market in a matter of weeks and therefore questionable.
To those of you that listened to what I wanted and that gave genuine advice thank you for your assistance. Thank you to the first several people that told me they think a mech would get the job done better than a mod box as well. Nothing wrong with making someone aware that a different direction may be better suitied to their needs. HOWEVER, with that being said after the first handful of mech supporters it went from advice and making sure I was fully informed of my options (which I appreciate) to trying to push me onto mechs and seemed to turn into a **** wagging contest. For that reason I will not be checking this thread any longer as it is no longer enjoyable. HOWEVER, if anyone has anything constructive they wish to add I welcome a pm.
And last, but not least, I thank EVERYONE for the time they took to give their advice, recommendations and opinions.

Dude. You DO NOT know what my life style is. You don't know me. My life style is not defined by the military. This will be my third deployment. I don't think being in a harsh environment for 33 months of the last 15 years means that my lifestyle requires a mechanical mod. That would be like saying I should walk around in body armor every day of life for the same reason. You don't know me, therefore you don't know my lifestyle and that comment was just ignorant
