I really am hoping bringing a huge company like PM into the mix helps counteract all the negatives...but at the same time we all know all the nasty games PM plays when it comes to business... I am so mixxed on this news. I personally fear this may hurt all the people that have worked so hard on this industry and we may lose stuff we all enjoy cause PM has so much money and power that they can get away with murder.

I agree, I'm mixed too, Yokymo.
But mainly, unlike others, I still need to do my diligent research on them. What was smear propaganda, lies, against them, later debunked but nobody much cared to listen? What was actual gospel?
As for the future, will they try to ban mom & pop stores, or will they be hiring modders, displaying at mom & pop stores, even online stores, or will they try to ban online sales to minimize their competition.
They would do better to grow alongside us, IMO, there's room for all of us, for all the honest vendors. As long as they are honest & not overly greedy, things should work out great. :D

I'm betting they will have to drop the "reduced risk" claim.

Perhaps something like "this product is not a safe alternative to cigarettes"

Hope I'm wrong.

For all we know, the FDA may be working with PM as we speak to get that approval and to lock down the market fromm all the other "pretenders". It wouldn't be the first time PM got help from the federal government to protect their market share.

Actually, as I read the article, "reduced risk" isn't a health claim, it's a brand name! We'd probably need a lawyer to explain whether a brand name can be a health claim, or not, but I would be very surprised if a corporation the size of Philip Morris didn't obtain a legal opinion on this before naming their product...
