If you look at it this way...

PG and VG are already in a variety of products that are both FDA approved AND used on a daily basis by most people. So are any food/candy/etc flavorings. So, I would think that vaping a 0-Nic flavored solution would have no more negative effects on you or a fetus than any of the products that have these things in their ingredients (foods, candy, drinks, etc).

Anyone disagree?

E-cigs have not been throughly tested, so I would disagree. Sure, PG/VG may be in a variety of products; but I cant think of any that are actually inhaled (there may be, but I don't know). Plus who knows what other additives, chemicals, etc make up e-liquid. Since its not proven, I (personally) would not push my luck. To be honest, I'm not even sure I'm OK with the idea of me vaping while we are trying; who knows the affect it may have on the little swimmers.

Well if that's true it's a good thing I wasn't in their study... would have screwed up their results big time!

Congrats first of all!

A few weeks ago a woman on another website asked about vaping and if it was harmful to her baby.

As there have been no studies obviously, I went on the hunt for articles regarding PG and children.

Now, these are studies that were done on children who have been born and not on the unborn, AND these studies were done with ingestion vs inhalation... but still interesting nonetheless...

Propylene Glycol: Increased Incidence of Seizures in Low Birth Weight Infants -- MACDONALD et al. 79 (4): 622 -- Pediatrics

Propylene glycol (PIM 443)

Potential safety concerns with the large amount of propylene glycol

These are in no way meant to scare you. However, if you are more informed when you speak to your doctor, your doctor will help you determine what is best for you and your baby.

My suggestion to this other woman was I gave her the list of ingredients on my bottle of eliquid and the above... Suggested to her to discuss vegetable glycerin to her doctor and have a conversation about it.

As someone else previously noted, my doctor also suggested that she would far rather see me cut down than quit all together as the stress of quitting could cause more harm than good. If I could quit, awesome. I did cut down substantially and birthed a very very healthy 8 1/2 lb baby. To this day, the only time the little one has been sick was when she unfortunately was served peanut butter that was tainted with salmonella from an unclean processing facility.

Congrats!!!

Yanno, I gotta ask. If women can stop smoking/vaping for the 9-10 month period while pregnant, why go back to smoking later? My sister smoked for years, got pregnant, quit while pregnant, then after the baby was born and about (I'm guessing) 6-12 months old, started smoking again. Then did it two more times! Her kids are in their mid to late twenties and my sister is telling me she just can't quit smoking. I told her, sure you can! You did it three times!!! LOL

It is the BABY that drives u back to smoking lol

I guess this is the difference in mentality between people who enjoy nicotine and those who are joylessly addicted to it.

When one enjoys something it brings them pleasure (duh). They can not do it for a long time if need be and then still get pleasure from it when they start again. Those who are joylessly addicted need their intoxicant to feel 'normal' and experience painful withdrawal symptoms when they try to quit.

If one can't understand why someone who went without smokes/vapes for 15 months would want to start again, then I'm guessing that person is in the joylessly addicted category.

I wouldn't say she is addicted. I'd say that she gets true pleasure from nicotine, that she doesn't want to give up without good reason (who whould?).

Congrats!!! What wonderful news!!! I would definitely quit the vaping or cut back if that doesn't work. I definitely wouldn't pick up an analog.

The only thing I would suggest in desparate times is a bottle of Willots Glycerin from the candy-making section and some cinamon LorAnns flavoring. Its straight cinamon oil and gives a throat hit but no nic.

Take care of baby.

Maybe hubby was aiming for the wrong hole? :D

He needs golfing lessons.

Ok, I'll run now.
