I got my free protege switch in the mail today too. It works great. That was what was wrong with my protege, and why it wasn't working. I put the new switch in and it is going just like new. Great !!! I am loving it !! I hope it keeps working and doesn't quit like the original did. Thanks to PureSmoker for the free switches !!

I got mine just today too.

It fit great. I like the no wiggle. feels much more stable.
round contact posts.
the brass contact ring is all shiny brass and not all discolored like the others.

I also noticed the edge doesn't touch the adapter any more. a little gap. i guess so it won't interfere /w the adapter tightening. (even tho I've never had that issue with mine)

its better designed and I think it will work great for a long time, but only time will tell for sure.
thanks for improving and still looking after us customers who have purchased in the past.

Got my replacment switch also, but seem to not have as much luck as the rest of you.....I have to push down really hard (perhaps the men have an easier time with this) to get decent vapor. If I use 2 fingers (one on top of the other) it vapes really well, but when I just use normal pressure, forget it :-(

Not sure what to do, but I will give a few days and see if it improves, if not, I will have to open a ticket.

Hi mpetva,

Here's a tip I posted on the Pure-Smokers forum:
TIP: An easy way to Break in a New Mechanical Switch

Here's a simple suggestion for those with brand new mechanical switches.

Hold a dime in place on top of the push button with your finger tip or thumb, and puff away until the cows come home =]

The button will get easier to push every day until it is nicely broken in and you no longer need the dime.

I hope that helps. I had a pretty stubborn mechanical switch a while back and this worked great. Just don't press tooo hard, it's really easy to really clamp down with the dime on top.

btw I had no break in time on mine.
it worked perfect right out of the package.

Me too... on both!

I can't believe the quality of these FREE upgrade switches.

Kudos to you PS!

I'm having the same trouble with mine. I have to push really hard to get any vapor. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it is very little vapor. I went back to my old one also.

I ordered the v1.1 on preorder and ended up getting it on Monday. It was a little sooner than those that just got the replacement switch because the preorder was delayed so long. But anyway, I was having the same problem. If you work with it for a few days the switch will loosen up, trust me. It hits like it should now. I was very mad at first because I decided to order the v1.1 because I had heard that this new switch was so much better and then when I got it that wasn't the case. But I keep using it because everyone told me that it would break in after a few days and it did.

look at the trouble shooting forum.

make sure the contacts on the inside of the switch are free of crap on them.

wipe em off or scrum with a tooth brush maybe.

idk how, but I always have good luck with all my puresmoker switches.
I have tact, mech, and new mech. they all work great.

I have bad luck with the adapters tho. =(

Got my replacement switch too. Turned a useless PV I purchased back in Jan into my new goto device! Switch works perfectly and it doesn't seem hard to press to get a good hit. I did put some noalox on the posts and made sure the end cap spring was attached securely and streched it out a bit. Tempted to order a SS one, but figure I will wait until the V1.2 has been out at least a month and order one of those or maybe a V2.

Thank you for the info :)

I tried the dime method, but it still takes too much pressure to get vape out of it. I am hoping that it will be better after a few days so I will keep trying.

Hope mine breaks in soon.

Right now the only thing breaking in is my thumb 8-o

Same here, LOL

I just got my Protege replacement switches, installed them, and now I remember why I loved that device so much. Perfect!

Also got the switch upgrade kits for my Prodigy V1, installed the O-rings and pins, and it works great again, too!

OMG -- I better knock on wood right now because both my devices work better than when I first got them new. I hope it lasts. Thank you Steve and Casey.

Well, I'm glad a lot of people are having good luck with the new switches.

Personally, I've given up on PureSmoker mods until they come up with a better switch solution. There are too many other mods out there that work.

Too bad really, cuz the Protege was my favorite little mod when it worked. It just never worked for very long or often. I've just had all the frustration trying to get this thing to work that I can stand. :(

Absolutely in total agreement with you, Lotus...and Mpetva, too. I am just totally frustrated and ready to chunk the damn thing in the trash!! I've got a freakin dime duct taped to it and it takes both hands to get a hit...IF it decides to hit...maybe it will, maybe it won't. I'm gonna give it another day or so and if it doesn't get any better, I'm done with it. I've got arthritis and my poor fingers can't take much more of this!
