Absolutely in total agreement with you, Lotus...and Mpetva, too. I am just totally frustrated and ready to chunk the damn thing in the trash!! I've got a freakin dime duct taped to it and it takes both hands to get a hit...IF it decides to hit...maybe it will, maybe it won't. I'm gonna give it another day or so and if it doesn't get any better, I'm done with it. I've got arthritis and my poor fingers can't take much more of this!

Yeah, sadly my beloved Protege has gone into the box as a backup to my backup's backup.

I don't have arthritis and have strong hands, but rarely get a good hit from the new switch. I've cleaned, Noaloxed, adjusted, and I'm just tired of the frustration. I have other mods that fire easily - first time every time.

Thank you for the info :)

I tried the dime method, but it still takes too much pressure to get vape out of it. I am hoping that it will be better after a few days so I will keep trying.

If the dime isn't working, then your switch is possilbly kinked. Try these two things. First, back the adaptor off of the battery case just a bit so it isn't too tight.

See if that fixes the problem. The mech button should seem a bit easier to push down.

Second, take the switch out and make sure the spring is going straight down the center when you re-assemble it (there's a small well at the bottom of the hole where the spring is supposed to sit).

I hope those help you.

Here and back
anim8r - I know your advice is helpful but I have to wonder why we're sold a product with a faulty switch, then a repair kit that doesn't work and now we need to purchase a new switch mechanism (I'm talking Prodigy). And if you want to and have a day or two you can fiddle with the fix that doesn't fix.

I totally agree AJMoore. I'll be the first to say I was done with fiddling with my first mechanical switch back in Dec of last year. I could never get it to work right. I eventually went back to my tact switches and they've always worked flawlessly.

However, I sure learned a bit about the "quirkiness" of these mech-switches in the two weeks or so that I used it.

I hope I'm not coming off as justifying the issues with the mechanical switches. I'm just hopefully saving some people a bit of time and money from having to send in a Protege that they may get months (or longer) of great use by making an adjustment here or there.

I had one of my new switches miss a couple hits yesterday and I found out I had the adapter muscled down just a bit too tight.

Trust me, I've felt the frustration last December that some are feeling now and I hope it all works out for them.

Well, have to agree got the new switch for the Protege and having problems just like the other mechanical switch. Don't have a dime so am using a penny and it works that way, really hope it breaks in! I also took an eraser and cleaned the contacts but still have to use the penny. I guess we shall see. If not then on to other battery mods.

OK, just got the new switch and was having the same issues as everyone who can not get this thing to give a hit. Tried the dime trick and it works great when the dime is used. Anyone know about how long before the switch is broken in. I feel like an idiot walking around with a dime tapped to my thumb... :0)

Well now my switch isn't working. Did for a day or two, then nothing. I have took it out. Looked at it. Cleaned it. Adjusted top adapter fit, adjusted bottom battery fit. Nothing. No vapor, nothing. I can take batteries out and put them in something else, and they work great. It is not batteries. I can take the atomizer off and put it on different device and it works perfectly. I'm getting aggravated at this thing. Why can't they just get a solid tube and put a tac switch in it and have it work. This sucks, a nice looking mod and no way to make it work. I'm not paying 29 + shipping to get something else that might or might not work. This really sucks. Anyone find a solution yet??
