The Dripper's Dream takes more drops than a regular atty... Especially in the beginning. The way it works for me is 4 drops to prime, and 2 or 3 drops to top off. That's conservative.

I've never counted how many puffs for me, I either vape until I get hints of dry hit, or blow it out. The key is to stop vaping and top off when you first start losing flavor, or flavor is just a smidge off. Don't wait until full-blown dry hit.

The other thing is that it will leak and gurgle a little once in a while for just about anyone - that's why people use drip shields.

Thanks Briar, I'll give them a try (again).

I still think the regular Stardust (short wick) has the best flavor overall. Not the strongest, but the best, ViVis and Phoenix included. It just has the depth of flavor that others lack. The ViVi has a stronger flavor and more vapor, but the flavor lacks considerably in the low spectrum, and that makes is just a bit metallic, and loses some beautiful nuances in complex flavors, like some teas, for instance. Also chocolates. It's hard enough to find an even remotely palatable chocolate in vape-land, but even with the best of them, mute the low-to-middle notes, and it becomes just another chocolate-wannabe-disaster.

And short wick is important. I'm utterly convinced now, after playing with all different length wicks in Stardusts and ViVis, that longer wicks filter out some flavors/flavor aspects, quite aside from the which-wick-wicks-better issue.

Just imho, of course, and, to be honest, this kind of nitpicking is just not important to normal people - only to extreme flavor nazis like myself.

Interestingly - and I have no idea why - the flavor of the Mini ViVi is actually better than the regular ViVi...

It's interesting.

I mainly vape simple 1 or 2 note DIY mixes, and can't taste much difference between the stardusts and the original vivi, long or short wicks.

On the other, my husband vapes a more complex premix, and this easily tastes the best in a short wicked stardust.

Haven't yet tried the little vivi.

Yep. (nodding vigorously) I vape very complex flavors, and so for me the difference is quite noticeable. So much so that I took to cutting wicks on everything. It really helps with the large ViVi.

My current crop of try-outs, mini ViVi, E1, and SCT I am using as is for the first go-round. But I'll definitely try short wicks on the first two. SCT is not easy to get into, so I probably won't bother, besides, its flavor is great anyway. The other two a very good too, but I want to see if it can get even better. I'll try it on the Apollo tank, too - as soon as I finish the tank, which probably won't be for another month, considering the size... LOL

It actually makes sense, as different compounds in a mixture will travel at different rates along an absorbent material like a wick. A short wick will not give them enough time to separate.

It's a lot like the paper chromatography we probably all did in school. Remember dipping a strip of paper in a colored solution and watching the different colored bands appearing along the paper?

Yeah sadly it does I get no taste 99% of the time and when I do get taste it is because some fluid has found its way into my mouth.. all 3 heads were like that with little or no taste I dunno if I just got a bad set of coils or who but there is nothing great about these as is. Unfortunately I am stuck vaping with them.. Kind of killing my pv buzz almost making want to stop vaping

Wow, Mogium, that's really unfortunate... This sounds like what happened with Version 1 ViVi, but it's the first I heard of with version 2.5. Is it possible you got an earlier version somehow?

I mean, I am not questioning what you are experiencing in the least, not at all, but I wondering what the heck could have gone wrong... :(

I doubt it, I ordered it from GV last month I got the 3 replacement heads looks exactly like what is on the gv website. I have tried cleaning them I have trimmed the wicks on a few of them I have tried voltage from 3 to 5.2 which is as far as I can push it without a burnt taste

Not to be a pain in the .... and add to an already frustrating experience for you, but...

What's on the photo on the product page is actually Version 1... Just to make very sure (after the Raven fiasco, I'd think it's within the realm of possibility that the factory might have accidentally stuck some stray remaning V1 into a V2.5 box...), where are the airholes on your unit: the 510 connection stem, or the base of the unit?

If I pull out the vivi nova from my pv the air holes are above the threads just below the base plate of the tank

Yeah, it's the new one alright... The only thing I can think of is that you got a set of duds for heads... It's obviously not your taste buds, and normally ViVi heads give very decent flavor, even for a flavor nazi like me, so bad heads seems to be the only logical answer.

You could try rebuilding them - there are some directions in the ViVi thread, and some on YouTube, I believe. I haven't done that so I can't advise you there, but many folks have and apparently it's easier than it sounds.

You could also try getting a couple of new heads - they are really cheap, so it might be worth it. You could even try a head or two for the modular Stardust - they are almost identical, but the Stardust one has a pip on the silicone "hat", and who knows, it might have some effect on flavor for you. I think it does, as I seem to prefer it, though I haven't investigated that in detail.

It's reallly too bad you are having problems with these... :(

Dripping into a decent atty is always good. :D With all the fancy gadgets that I love using, I still go to dripping once in a while.

yeah I have to wait till I have money for wire to rebuild the head or money just to buy the heads.. for now I am using my free raven drip atty lol
