What about the metal filings, your not concerned about any getting into the carto. Would not be a good thing in the lungs. Just wondering.

A reasonable question that came up some time ago.

Seems reasonable to me that any filings would be caught in the wicking in the carto, but that is only my opinion, not scientific at all. Just seems probable.

Here's my take Mike. The filler is against the inner side of the carto. Most all blows out with the wheel. What little that may be there does not concern me. It isn't going anywhere and with the minute amount I don't worry about it breaking down by juice. In my opinion it can't be any worse that eating canned vegetables or a variety of other things we are exposed to today. I know you are not inhaling the vegetables but that's the comparison I come up with in my world. Here's something to think about. Can those minute particles of dust be any worse that what is coming off the heated coils? That wire is also slowly breaking down along the way. Probably at a much higher rate than any metal dust in the filler would.

Makes sense wally.
I have to watch a lot of safety videos with my job, I know this is a little extreme, but asbestos is what I'm thinking about, I know metal filings are not the same but may have the same affect. If it gets Into your lungs it will not come out, it just grinds away.
Maybe I'm just way to paranoid.

Yeah, I think so. Having worked in a machine shop my whole life cutting, drilling, milling, grinding, polishing etc. and then blowing the crap all over the shop I think I would have to vape a million slotted Stallions to even get a fraction of what I and every other shop machinist has inhaled. And our safety departments never raised an eyebrow. I won't even mention the trichloroethane and other degreasers.

As far as depth, I just go until the slot is open and stop. I also slot opposite of the wicks. I look down into the carto and see what way the coil is facing and make sure my slots of running across the carto in the same direction as the coil.

As for the vertical slots on a pp stainless. It seems to be working. I still think something may have changed either with me (my taste buds could be having a strike), or the cartos. I don't seem to get the robust flavor I did with the first run. I still have 5 boxes of the original stallions un touched to tap from.

As for juice, my flux is all the standard 70/30 GV mix. My The grape and Pear are clear as can be. Vanilla scream has steeped into a slightly darker juice, but I have not even messed with it for sometime.

So, I just quad slatted a Stallion. Two down low, and two up high. So far so good. BTW this is one of the new stainless non punched.

I've gone to slotting on opposing sides as you did earlier on these SS punched. Seems to be some improvement on the wicking rate, I guess one would call it. I'm interested in how your quad slotting goes, if there's an appreciable improvwement in feed rate, any leaking, whatever the results might be.

Thanks.

So I posted this earlier in the newbie section, but for those who have the Reo Grand as their PV - I can absolutely guarantee that these Stallions are amazing on them. With the whole bottom feeding mechanics it's so easy to just push the bottle and get the filler and coils inside consistently wet. Granted I've been using them for like an hour or so but for now these MAY have replaced using atomizers, but heres me crossing my fingers hoping that the Ciscos I bought from AV are just as good or better!

I really like the stallions, I punch 4 holes 2 bottom, 2 top, then use a fill needle in all the holes to just to poke a hole in the filler material, wicks very good.

Has anyone noticed any primer, the last one I used had it. I noticed the filler was wet after I punched the holes, I put the carto in the tank and filled it, I vapped the primer with the juice. It was a nasty taste for awhile until the primer was gone. I may need to clean the next one somehow before I use it.
