Not by far, lol. I tend to be very sarcastic, even just in humor. And I can get cynical, even in humor too. Kinda outspoken too, the girls will probly back me on that one, lol:blush:

Double post again. Sorry. I'm exactly the same. I usually hang out with the ProVape people (I know. Boo hiss) but they know me all too well too.

Unrelated there is an ad for Alan Watts' The Illusion of Memory on Youtube that has me fascinated. I'm VERY much into the study of consciousness. Memory fits right into that. If you want to really know what resonates with Em, watch stuff like this:

cool, saved to watch later

Lol. Awesome. I won't rain on you guys thread too much. I don't want to be an intruder. I'm rarely on during the work day anyway. I try, but my employees stand at my door like prisoners waiting on it to open. Ruins it. :). Y'all are fun though.

MoBay - my heart goes out to your wife and you as well.
I live in pain 24/7 because of the disease I have, RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) it is disease of the sympathetic nervous system.
It started when I tore my rotator cuff and spread. It feels like someone poured gasoline on my body and lit it on fire.
There is no cure. I've had it since 1996. Without my meds I couldn't get through the day screaming in pain.
My hubby does the laundry, dishes all the driving etc. It took me 3 yrs of PT to get out of wheelchair after my RSD spread into my L foot and leg. I walk daily to stay out of my wheelchair but it hurts like all heck to do so. Bless you for sticking with your wife and taking care of her.
I've been running my online RSD support group since 2000 and I have seen so many RSDers abandoned by their spouses who
could not handle them being chronically ill.

My wife also has had a failed back surgery. Failed as in a simple fusion fell all apart inside her and she actually had a huge screw puncture her sciatic nerve. She has had a ton of surgeries since then. If there was one thing I could go back and change would be that first surgery. She had a tennis scholarship at a great university and now can hardly walk. Her life has changed so much and it hurts my heart so bad that there is nothing I can do for her. I will find myself out and about doing something with the kids and just get this huge depression come over me that she is disabled and can't do the activities that I do with our children.

Talk about being addicted to opiates, she has a morphine pump and takes oral medication. I don't think she will ever not take them, but can't imagine what would happen if she just stopped. I know that there is really no other option and it sucks. It's so hard watching someone you love in so much pain.

A good pain dr makes you sign an opiate pain contract.
And holds you to it. You will be closely monitored by that dr.
You will have constant drug screens.
You are not allowed to take pain med prescriptions from other drs or you are in violation of the contract.
When you violate that contract the dr can either kick you out of their practice, or stop RXing you for pain meds.
There are good drs out there who do the right thing but there are some who do not.
Also there are people who take advantage of good drs by trying to circumvent the system.
Being a pain patient of 20 yrs I have studied the subject intensely. Running my support group for the past 14 yrs,
I have heard stories that are just heartbreaking.
I've known pain patients who took their lives because they were in such excruciating pain and yet they had no access to
appropriate pain care.

Yeah and that pisses me off doctors getting people that don't know no better strung out on opiates. My doctor makes it clear you will be out on your ... if you abuse his scripts.

BTW -- for those that don't know. I'm fine with people that want to be gay. I'm not against it. So if that's clear I will post the words meaning:
Gaystapo = Those that fly off in a rage at someone or some written piece that deals with the marriage issue. These people are for the most part straight and only do that to draw attention to themselves. hehe :)

I'm so sorry to hear that. That just breaks my heart. I think it's normal to get depressed about those things. You love her and want her to be able to enjoy everything she can with you and your children. I'm on the corporate healthcare side now but I used to be a RN (mainly in trauma ICU and CVICU) and my hubs is in the medical field too. It's gotten so ridiculous these days with narcotics. Everyone that takes them seem to be lumped together which is absolutely horrifying. Your wife needs them, yes she is dependent, yes she will most likely be on them for the rest of her life, but under the circumstances...that would be the least of my concerns. I've seen people go through withdrawals and it's terrible, but I don't think she will have to go through that.

The problem is that those that need them, like you wife are lumped into those that go to pain clinics to get their fix. They have corrupted the system and made it difficult for those that actually need them. Plus, it's talked about in such a negative way that those that need them are made to feel like addicted and that's not right.

My hubby is an Anesthesiologist and he has family members that try to prevent their loved ones from having narcotics during and after surgery. He mainly does major surgeries (heart transplants, open heart surgery, liver transplants, etc) and it's just not possible to do procedures like that without them. So, the hospital has to override their wishes or else they can't have the surgery.

I've also seen people that are terminally ill and have months to live, and their family members try to refuse to give them pain meds. It's unbelievable. So, they want to have them suffer in the last months of their life? Who cares if they become addicted? It's about comfort care at that point. I had to get out of the patient care end and to the corporate side because of things like this.

Sorry for the novel there. You're doing the right thing. I'm glad that she's as comfortable as she can be. My thoughts are with you.
