"smoking would be my "first" choice"

"LESS smoking actually makes smoking more appealing"

The only secret thing that most of em don't know, right now i'm dying for just one cigg...been 8 hours...how can I waste...so waiting to cut down my mental cravings...vaped more than enough lol...whole day.

"Just hang in there. Remember, even if you don't smoke ONCE after dinner, you are laying down a pattern of "success."
- Thank you for this :)

Try switching up flavors (and if you can afford it) gear. Having different flavors available when I get bored with one is pretty helpful. Even get a couple tanks, and you can change them on your mod.

It's just a thought. I actually got, well, more like DISGUSTED by tobacco and I really didn't seek taste. I sought feeding my addiction. I don't much care for tobacco flavors, as far as I'm concerned, I "tasted"' enough tobacco for the rest of all my days. LOL.

Start by convincing your brain that there is no difference between vaping and smoking - it's all nicotine. Use a device that mimics the volume of smoke from a cigarette. Look forward to a vape and not a cigarette after a period of abstinence...

Put your anxiety into perspective. Trust me, anxiety levels increase exponentially once you get a life threatening illness directly attributed to smoking.

Harsh, but true.

Maybe experiment a bit more with different types of vaping styles, mods and e-liquids as well =) I recently started vaping again and realized that my tank isnt the best for flavor so I may be buying a VandyVape tank soon = )

You want to make the vape experience as enjoyable as possible, are you enjoying the flavors you vape? If not , try new flavours, or learn diy. Are you feeling like you miss the feel of a cigarette in your hand? If so, try pen style vapes :) I still use a mig cig sometimes, which is a small pen sized battery . The pink one also has a soft texture to it, reminding me of holding a cigarette. You can get silicone tips for them which feel like a cigarette in your mouth.

All in all, just take it one day at a time =) Good luck to you !

I'm telling this a lot but the truth is right now I'm lost, didn't even sleep and won't be until I fix my brain

Are you able to obtain WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid juice) as you decrease? It has some of the compounds OTHER than nic found in tobacco, but it's still fairly safe, as you aren't combusting the liquid.

I used it during detox and keep some around for stressful situations. If you are able to obtain it, it may be worth a shot. It did not entirely ELIMINATE my brain fog and detox symptoms, but it certainly helped with the "chew through steel" sensation I had at times. It's expensive but may be worth it. Makers that are good include Aroma (very expensive) and Umbavapes and./or Ohm's vapor (I think the companies are connected somehow) but both sell similar WTA, some folks note it as less potent, it's hard for me to compare, as I used Aroma in the THROES of detox, but I don't find Umbavape bad at all and it certainly was helpful.

Best of luck,

Anna

Hello @riddlesmyth. How much eliquid we use depends on a lot of factors. Each device is different as is the style of vaping. If you MTL you possibly use less liquid than someone who direct lung vapes. Also, the amount of time spent vaping obviously changes the amount of liquid used.

It really doesn't matter how much eliquid you use, as long as you are vaping! Some days, if I am busy with work and life, I might only vape 6-8mls - other days when I am not so busy I might vape 18-20mls. (I DIY my eliquid so that helps with the cost).

There are a few threads here that people talk about how much liquid they vape a day. Have a look at them...you will see how much the amount varies, because we are all so very different.

You are doing really well, so continue doing what you are doing.

I am late to the festivities here, but I will tell you this. I have gone from a pack and a half per day for 45+ years (August, 2017) to less than a pack per month - now. Here is how I did it:
1. I joined ecf and listened to what people here had to say. I followed (or at least listened to) advice about mods etc.,
2. In September, 2017, I bought a pocket notebook and wrote down the time of every cigarette I smoked BEFORE I lit up. From that time on, I stopped smoking 'mindless' cigarettes. Every cig became a conscious choice.
3. I stopped worrying about quitting smoking and started concentrating on vaping.
4. I began to experiment with not smoking in certain situations - morning coffee, waiting for a bus.
5. January 13, my first cigarette free day since I was a teenager.

I have had many cigarette free days since.

You are doing the right thing - asking for input in order to find your own way. I wish you good luck.

I'd go so far as to say that even if you keep smoking the same amount, in the very short term, starting to vape is probably a good step. Because it will likely cause you to smoke less by itself.

But- if it doesn't I'd think about upping the nicotine content of the juice you're using. Vaping is not a perfect substitute for smoking, and everyone responds differently, but usually if a smoker vapes high nicotine juice they will at least want to smoke less. And that is a win in and of itself.

But in the end, if you can switch entirely to vaping that is the biggest win, so it's something I think you should at least aim for. That might mean going from two packs a day to one over a month, from that to half a pack over another month, etc, until you aren't smoking anymore- I know from personal experience how addictive smoking can be, so whatever works, works.

Okay guys, hi, its me again...On the previous thread of mine (https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/posts/20796989/) discussed a lot with you guys bout 12mg nic and mixing stuff.

Now my query...as here 100's of you quit smoking with vaping? Not all of you stopped smoking all in a sudden? (It's hell you know?)

Question : Is decreasing the smoking gradually a thing? I mean I smoke 1+ pack a day with a lot of milked tea...and i'm a victim of panic disorder, shortness of breath, acidity, gastric, constipation, cough, and a lot of thing...i have to take panic pill every 4 hours, no matter i die or live and I'm constantly regretting. So my previous 12mg juice problem is solved, someone wise there told me to play with the nic levels and see what i need, and everyone also mentioned "Its the smokes chemicals thats killing you not nicotine" so nicotine level doesn't matter that much...so after mixing that 12mg, i realized i don't need more than 3mg tbh if I really want to vape and 6mg if "it get worse"

So todays topic is "I'm dying for smoke" someone on the other thread also told me to decrease gradually, now is this a real thing? I mean i can control myself for 1 hour if i'm a smoker....like vape for 1 hour (10mins usually) and i can pass 1 hour then smoke 1....so in that manner i'm smoking less than my previous (tried a thousand types of cigarette filters, its hell, don't buy those) So In that way I don't even feel that I'm trying to quit or anything...what quitting all in a sudden did and always happening is...I feel like i'm no more...so its more like I'm dying in both ways.

So my good friends and "life experts" i'll tell you guys, if I try now to decrease my smoking gradually with vape...means i'm doing anything...? I mean i'm still a smoker...Actually one idiot blog washed my head, they says... "1 or 40 you're still a smoker and you'll die in a same way, theres no safe way to smoke even if you smoke from 2 packs to just 2"

I'm sorry for sharing my life that much with you but all I'm trying to say "I have no one, no place, nothing that can help except you guys"

Should I fresh start gradually decreasing? And please forgive me for my typos, for my boring life, for my poverty that i cant afford nicotine gums or any fancy pod with nic salts etc, I'm poor and i cant help it...but you can help me if you can figure me out that gradual decreasing make sense or not...I'm smoking nearly 30 a day now with 8 mugs of milked poison tea.

And again "Thank you everyone in here, you are my family, more than that, I wasn't even known how to take a direct lung drag when I first came here with my kanger sub box mini kit, 2 years ago" Still trying lol...Help Me and Thanks again :)
I can only speak to what I’ve done...Today makes 31 days of being smoke free. I went cold turkey. I got free patches and lozenges from the smoking cessation program here. But then I read some info that made a lot of sense to me. I wanted to not only be smoke free, but nicotine free. Long story short, the 1st few days were pretty rough. After 72 hours nicotine is completely out of your system. So physically the withdrawals were hard but soon came to an end. But it is the MENTAL part that was very difficult the first two weeks. I was very very depressed. Extremely tired. Slept all I could besides work and whatever obligations. Then started to get easier. But 3 weeks to the day was the hardest. I actually stopped and got a pack of smokes. Well I had a 30 min drive to work to think about if I REALLY wanted to smoke it or not after 3 weeks of hell, probably almost out of the hardest part. And I didn’t smoke. That was 22 days in. Today is 31.
Honestly it is not too bad. Yes, I still want a cigarette sometimes. I haven’t drank alcohol yet since I quit because I’m afraid that will be my doom. I have gained some weight. About 7 lbs.
Smoking is a love hate relationship. If it wasn’t harmful of course I’d still be smoking. 31 years though, it was just time.

I use a zero nicotine vape. For me it does what I need. The hand to mouth, the inhalation, exhalation.

STOP SMOKING PLEASE. Don’t worry about the nicotine right now. Vape whatever it takes to keep off analogs. Then if nicotine is an issue for you, drop it down gradually.

I wanted to be free of my entire nicotine addiction. And 31 days in I know I am NOT out of the woods by any means. I have to be very careful.

The nicotine isn’t going to kill you. It was just personal for me.

Good luck. Everyone does their own way.

I found an alert for this thread in my junk mail, so I'm late to the party, but will reply as I'm one who switched "cold turkey".

I have to agree soooo much with this:

But the point is, try some different strategies to manage, and also do NOT beat yourself up for REDUCING your cigarettes during a time period that has to be insanely stressful.

Don't beat yourself up. At all. Ever.

Never, never, never think to yourself "aw, dammit, you failed again" about anything. Never. The rest of the world is critical enough; you need to always be your own best supporter, all the time.

Change your thinking. It's just one switch:

"I screwed up" becomes "I'll try again"
"I only made it timeframe" becomes "Well, I made it timeframe. That's great; now I just need to make it that far again"

You don't want to become blind to your errors, but you do want to make certain you always acknowledge -and reward- your successes.

"I made it 15 minutes between cigarettes 4 times today. Tomorrow, I'm treating myself to a whatever makes you happy. When I've consistently done that every day for a whole week, I'm going to another thing that makes you happy.

You've got this! :)
