In Chinese, the panda is called xiong mao which translates literally to bear-cat. The red panda's name is xiao xiong mao, or little bear-cat (sometimes red bear-cat.)
The red panda is distantly related to the giant panda, so therefore can be considered a bear for the sake of this contest.

Bonus fact : It is also a relative of the raccoon, and therefore has its own scientific classifcation - the ailuridae.
