I have 2 grandsons( age 16 and 18) who want to start vaping with no nicotine as they think it is cool. Neither have smoked cigarettes. I am trying to discourage them, but they argue it is harmless so why not. Any suggestions or info to help me discourage them from being stupid and to save their money? Thanks--hawk

Hey hawk....wait til others post their comments here then show your grandsons.
Hey you non smoking kids....no it ain't cool to fill your lungs with stuff other than air. Most of of here vape so we can get off those darn cigarettes!!! If I had the choice I would not even vape but the alternative for me is smoking which will eventually kill me......GRRRR.....it ain't cool!
Save your money and buy a car!

I agree with you Hawk,
I have discouraged both of my younger brothers to just leave it be, they are both 18 and both have whatever ego kits they get their hands on. I have told them both that vaping 0 nic because you think it is cool actually hurts the cause. Right now vaping is under harsh scrutiny every day and every young adult who wants to vape 0 nic plays it off to be acceptable just because. It makes the industry look bad, and us vapers look bad.
Both of my brothers are legal adults so I cannot stop them, but I refuse to encourage or help them in any way...

thanks folks--I understand teen rebellion and they would be better off vaping than cigs or other drugs. I still have to give them good advice. Before vaping I was hooked on cigs (2-3 packs a day for 40 years), and I stupidly started by bumming a cig off my college roommate just to aggravate him lol. Sometimes young people make bad decisions (old people too lol) , but I hope to influence them on this matter. Hawk

I grew up with my 2 cousins, we call each other brothers but at 13 my cousin starting smoking cigs, his older brother did too. About a year later I started bumming them off him and as he gradually changed brands so did I and before I knew it I was smoking a PAD at 15. I was lucky to have a vaper who is my GFs brother start me off with an ego kit. 7-8 year smoker is not a lot compared to many of the vets on here which is why I respect you all so much. Each individual story is always unique, and all of us (well most) started vaping to stop smoking.

Hand them a pack of Reds and ask them if they would smoke them because they thought it was "cool"... prolly not.

They never smoked, so no reason to vape. It's illegal for the 16 year old anyways. They will be the ones to go out in public or in stores and blow clouds that hurt the community. The 18 year old you can't stop he's just making a stupid decision to try to look cool and I could imagine it's the same reason the 16 year old would want to.

You can offer advice or give advice if asked. Other then that, remind them:

"Learn from the mistakes of others. You'll never live long enough to make them all yourself." - multiple claims for author

Then just remember when you were 18.

And I have to wonder where these "kids" come up with all their money to have all these choices. When I was 18, if you could go around the world for a nickel, I couldn't get outta sight.
