Im not going to be politically correct here. Lets step into the real world for a sec. He smokes now. Lets say it again.... He smokes now.
Why did we all quit smoking and start vaping ? To quit smoking for all the obvious reasons. If he can find his way to buy cigs, he can find his way to buy ecigs. I wouldnt buy them for him, but I also woulnt worry if I laid out some of my extra stuff on the kitchen table and made it clear that I didnt really use this set up and juice anymore.... and ask him to dispose of it.

I was a smoker for 38 years.... I can never forget that.

This.

How many of us started young? I'm willing to bet a LOT of us. I started smoking when I was 12. I was hopelessly addicted to tobacco (cigarettes and chew) by 16. I'm 20 now and have previously tried to quit more times than I can count on one hand. If I hadn't found vaping, I would still be being held by the throat of the tobacco demon.

OP, I won't even begin to suggest or advise you on how to go about it, but I WOULD encourage you to encourage your son to go the way of the vape.

That's a tough one, really not enough info for me to give any kind of opinion. I would have questions like:

How do you know he smokes...did you catch him or is he allowed to.
Does he have a job.......does he support his own habits?
Does he drive....can you use that as leverage to get him to stop?
Is he still in school?
How much does he smoke, is he really addicted already?

I would really try to use any leverage I could , to get him to stop smoking and chewing and to stop him from vaping.
I do know it isn't easy, I have raised two boys myself , all I can do is wish you good luck!

I would make a decision as the parent of a minor and not ask other people to make it for me or persuade me one way or the other. :2c:

I support this 100%. Depending on what state you live in smoking by minors is against the law and by buying your underage smoker any kind of cigarette or vaping equipment you could be subject to Contributing To The Delenquincy... HOWEVER if he is wanting it to quit smoking and you are trying to steer him that way then I can see you dilemma. However you are going to see a lot of post on this telling you its time to stand up and be the parent and make him quit cold turkey. If it were me in this predicament my 16/17 yr. old would not be smoking at all and if I caught him/her then it would be a trip to the wood shed and we would be done with it... But its your child and your preference. You have to make the decision that is right for yo and him... Not what people ion a forum think...

I'm not religious at all, but God help my son if I ever catch him smoking. You can rest assured that vaping to help him "quit" would be out of the question as well. Boy's too young to smoke, so doesn't get the PRIVILEGE to vape, either.

Dumbest thing I ever did was pick up a cigarette and I'll be damned if I let either of my kids make that same mistake.
