The bias in the reporting is that the vape product is framed as the enemy.

I sat last summer in an outdoor section of an urban restaurant and watched a young guy do a 'wheelie' down the street on his crotch-rocket. The bike went over backwards and the kid ended up being crushed to death by a delivery truck in the other lane.
I may have been the only person on that patio who wasn't horrified by the sight, because I once raced motorcycles and I fully understand the danger of being stupid.

The media did not frame their story to put the motorcycle at fault.

It's not really bias, it's lack of information and misunderstanding. The writer does not know that it was user error. The writer of the article knows nothing about what we do.

I tweeted to @cbsmiami

We should all send a tweet that the article is full of bad information.

If there is any truth to this, and someone was injured that is a tragedy.

Usually, I would have gone bug-nutty crazy over the lack of facts (even as far as news articles go) but what really bothers me personally is the timing on this. It's no secret that yesterday was the day for all vapers to unite, then all of a sudden someone gets seriously injured and it is first result on Google News? Its never a good time to have something like this happen to anyone, but why radio silence on vaping up until yesterday?

I hope the gentleman in the article makes a full recovery. I have nothing but love for all vapers; tootle, wompers, chasers. Tragedies like this are never a good thing for anyone.

It seems to me the story is biased. It should have said a young man mis-using
his e-cigarette caused an explosion that injured him.
To say other wise is deception by omission
Where is the expert commentary from someone in the vaping industry?
Where is the vaper on the street interview? Why wasn't he using his
triple parallel box mod?

They do list top headlines, and this one definitely made the top headlines.

After digging around a bit, I finally found ONE link that ties Evan with vaping. He FB "liked" the Vaping Station page. (NOT vapor station).
His FB wall, Twitter wall, Instagram wall, etc, are void of vapor.
His passion for cars, audio, girlies, partying, etc, are loudly boasted about.
Interesting?
Perhaps. Perhaps not. What say you?

I'm saying we KNOW part of the story is false.
And that's ALL we can be sure of.

There is also a lack of details which make verifying the article impossible.

What we DO know from the article is someone is lying.

Now, why I should believe any part of that article?

there is a difference between
- lying,
and
- some hysterical, traumatized woman spouting nonsense presumptions

No, there is no grey area with the truth.
o_O
It's either a fact or it isn't.

You don't get a pass to be loose with the truth because you are "hysterical".

So tell me again which part exploded after it flew down his throat?

"If it's on internet, it must be true".

The interview of his sister in the hospital, not exposing her face, that was a great stage job too, huh...

The "exploding (while in his throat) drip tip" that was re assembled for the pic?
Of course that didn't happen. The rest of it did. The kids in a COMA dude. You gotta let it go bro.....it happened. Hybrid mods and tank attys will short. A venting battery in a compression chamber explodes. In the one case in California, the mod exploded and the tank or piece of the tank WAS IMBEDDED INTO THE CIELING. Is it really that hard to fathom that a drip tip or part of the topper blew down the guys throat???

No where in the story does it indicate he was even operated on let alone they
removed anything from his body.

You are making a lot of assumptions.

So tell me, what date did this actually happen?

This happened where I live! Poor guy! I agree there is a lot in the article that is misleading. The guys sister doesn't know anything about vaping and was prob traumatized like edyle said. Someone here deducted that the mod was probably very hot! Hence the "second explosion" could be him being burned internally by whatever went into his throat. Says that he was placed into a medically induced coma at the hospital to relieve his suffering. He spoke to his sister before they induced the coma. Also wondering if he was sober at the time, aware? But yeah, it's too bad they refer to it just as an e-cigarette, like they are all the same. More accurate - He was vaping on a top fuel dragster type e-cig. which exploded! Dangerous to begin with! imo.
