Since no one else has done it on this sub-forum, Ive been meaning to review the vendor Greencigusa.com. My hope is to prevent others from falling into this vendors fraud trap.
On 9/11/2010 I purchased a G300 Mini Standard kit from GreenCigUSA.com Total cost was $67.55 (used New coupon code.) I researched before I purchased and could find no negative feedback on the sitebut also couldnt find any positive feedback, either. So, I went for it.
I should have known better, however, because a little flag went off in my head when I read their return policy before confirming the purchase: 100% money-back guarantee as long as item is returned within 15 days of purchase date. Ive seen 15-day return policies before, but it was always 15 days after ship date or after receipt, not 15 days after purchase date. I went against my instincts, however, and ordered anyway.
Sure enough, the item was not shipped until 9/20 from New Merchants LLC (1327 SE Dixie Hwy, Stuart, FL, 34994-3438). It arrived via UPS on 9/21. Well, if the late shipment didnt tip me off to trouble, what I saw when I opened the shipping package sure did: the kit box was wrapped in a burlap sack instead of bubble wrap!
When I opened the kit, I noticed it was new (shrink wrapped), but had been manufactured more than a year ago according to the certification ticket (Manufacture Date: 2009-05-14). So it came as no surprise when I found that neither of the two batteries would take a charge and all five cartomizers had crystalized e-juice caked on the battery-end threads. The kit was totally unusable.
The next day (9/22) I called the Greencig USA customer service number (772-380-2326)which is actually a cell phone for a Greg L. I spoke with Greg about the situation, and he tried to sell me a g220 instead, but I declined and said I just wanted to return the unit for a full refund. He said I could as long as he received it before the 15-days-after purchase-date deadline (9/26 in my case). So I did: I had to spend $32 dollars to send it back via UPS in time for the deadline.
UPS tracking said he received it on 9/24. I waited a week, and no refund. I tried calling and emailing, but got no response. I finally contacted my credit card company and disputed the charge on 10/6. My CC company temporarily credited my account that day and started a dispute investigation. I filled out paperwork and by 10/22 the dispute was finalized in my favor.
So, technically, I was out half my money since I had to spend so much to get it back to them in time. But, I didnt care as long as they didnt get a dime of my money.
Specific advice: avoid Greencigusa.com like the plague! General advice: Always use a reliable credit card when purchasing from an unknown vendor. If possible, use virtual account numbers for all internet purchases. My CC company lets me create a virtual account number for each vendor; I can set an amount limit and expiration date for each VA number; I can also kill the number anytime I want.
Hope this helps others.
