Awesome! I live about an hour and a half north of Seattle...hop, skip and a jump to Canada from here. Indeed, we are close by, so don't let yourself panic if you get into a juice, battery, atty bind!
And yes, that panic is a real thing which is why I mentioned it...don't like to scare anyone about that feeling, but it is there if you think about it. And once you identify it or give it a name...its not so bad in the long run. You'll see.

Oh, I have already had that panic set in when I first started and only had 2 batteries.
I have spent every cent that I saved not buying cigarettes on extra batteries, chargers, juices, cartos and attys. lol If you are ever in need of anything once I get there I will be more than happy to help. I am sooo determined not to smoke as much as I used to that I became mega paranoid about not having a working PV or parts or juice, so I went a little overboard. lol Next on my list (even though I have not a clue how to use it)....a multimeter!

2 packs of cigarettes for 35 years leaves seriously deep ruts to fall into. Everybody has posted some great advice. I especially like "don't be so hard on yourself" ones. Cigarette addiction is a bear! I think the other best advice is to just keep coming to ECF. Lots of wonderful people here! Lots!

Oh, and you're not alone. That's important to know. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ing-still-havent-quit-smoking-any-advice.html

Thank you :)

Great link!! I am still trying to figure out the basics of vaping and this forum, so all the links that everyone has posted were helpful.

To be honest the idea of having no cigarettes in the house brings on an actual panic attack type episode..lol

Same here, I'm only just recently quit (day 11 is behind me now). For the longest time the reason I was vaping and smoking was because I would have an anxiety fit when I even considered not buying any and, therefore, not having any on hand. I thought about it and I realized I was going most of the day and only smoking with morning coffee or at night before bed. I really didn't need that morning smoke and coffee (although I had to convince myself of that a few times). I just needed to make sure I had fully some charged batteries in the morning and a reminder that I could do it.

You can do it, and as many have said before me: You have made great progress, don't be hard on yourself because from 40 to 1 in such a short time is awesome. Be proud of that accomplishment!!

Great job getting down to one a day.

I had this first thing in the morning problem. For two weeks I was miserable in the morning and smoked one cigarette because the e-smoke didn't seem to be doing the trick. Then I remembered I was always miserable first thing morning no matter what and haven't smoked any analogs since. Still miserable though, but analog free.

LOL.... never thought of it that way. Great perspective! :)

Thank you typocinnamongrl for the kind words. On one hand, I am really happy not smoking the 39 extra cigarettes a day like I used to, but get really frustrated with myself hanging on to the one lone cigarette in the morning.
Maybe you are right--it may just be a comfort thing. I keep waiting for cigs to taste so horrid that I just put it out--no such luck yet. lol

It'll happen when you're ready - I too found the morning analog a problem - after 5 weeks of concurrent vaping/analog use - the need for the analog slowly but certainly waned. No pressure - do it on your own time.

As others have said, well done to kick that many cigarettes per day!

It took me a bit over four months to entirely quit cigarettes. I had trouble ditching my last 2 to 3 cigarettes per day. One of those was the one I had right after waking up. It has been more than a year now since my last cigarette but amusingly I still have a bit over one pack in my desk drawer. I didn't worry much about having a cigarette or two while converting, figured that wasn't a big deal relative to kicking the rest. I really don't need that safety net now but I still keep them. It is nice to know that they're there if I ever decide I really really want one. The logical part of me knows I'm well past that. The emotional/panic part of me still likes knowing they are there just in case.

I think there are two reasons that some people can have trouble ditching the last few cigarettes:

1) E-cigs don't deliver nicotine to the brain nearly as quickly as cigarettes. When you (the smoker you) wants a really quick fix, e-cigs won't do it. I suspect that you are in this group because your problem is very specifically the first cigarette of the day. My suggestion is to try vaping more at the start of the day (but not to a crazy amount because the effect from vaping is a bit delayed and you don't want to find that 20 minutes later you have more nicotine than you want.) And to remember and remind yourself that the effect is coming soon. You need to retrain your brain to be happy that the result is coming soon and not worry that it isn't coming now.

2) E-cigs don't deliver other chemicals in cigarettes which some people are addicted to. This might also be what's happening in your case. It is a bit less likely because of your particular desire for that first cigarette but it remains a possibility if your addiction to those other chemicals is mild relative to your addiction to nicotine. In this case starting the day with one Swedish snus and then just vaping for the rest of the day will likely satisfy you.

My article at Understanding Your Symptoms While Adjusting To Vaping : General E-Cig Discussion - International Vapers Club might be helpful. It isn't specific to your exact situation but it does have information which can be helpful to people having problems with completing the switch to vaping.

It took me a week to let them go I would smoke 1 or 2 analogs. I did not buy my brand of 99s and bought some cheap mavericks. It helped me a lot. Now I just know I can vape when I get that crave. I used to get up go outside and smoke before I did anything else. Then I programmed myself to get up go outside and vape. So go where you would usually smoke and vape instead.

I've been vaping for about 6 weeks and still can't let go of the analogs....BUT..The more I vape, the worse the analogs taste and I'm slowly backing out away from analogs. One of my problems is that I have smoked for 30 some years and those analogs have been there with me through the good times and bad so letting go is almost like leaving an old friend behind. I know it probably sounds stupid but thats the way it is. I still smoke 7-8 a day which is great for me and everytime I get done smoking one I wonder why because they taste really bad. I know that I will let them go eventually so I'm not so worried.
All I can say is that your .... is going to get really sore if you keep kicking yourself so .."stop kicking yourself"
I let myself run out of analogs so I have to grab that e-cig in the morning and found that it works just fine. Some people have to stick their toes in the water and some have to wade in and the lucky ones can just jump in! I'm a toe sticker and you sound like a wader. Give yourself a big pat on the back!

I was 3+ packs a day for over twenty years and for the first week of having my PV i struggled hard with it. I tried different juices and I still wanted an analog until one day my 24mg mar-boh juice from vikingvapor came in the mail. I filled up a cart and started vaping and to be totally honest it wasn't the greatest tasting juice but it hit the spot and it wasn't until later the next evening I realized that I hadn't had a analog in over 24 hours. I was shocked that I hadn't even thought about analogs at all. Well being the nosey .... that I am I had to try a analog just to see how it tasted to me and after 2 hits from it I was running to the bathroom grabbing toothpaste mouthwash etc. trying to get that taste out of my mouth it was just soooooo nasty lol. I haven't had a analog since and that was back in 09/29/2010. My point to this long boring story is that even if you have tried different juices keep trying because there is one out there that will hit that special spot and get you off that morning analog :). Until that time comes just revel in the fact that you went from 40 analogs a day down to 1! That in itself is something to be VERY PROUD OF!
