i tried lorann cinnamon oil and it mixes fine with PG. i've been mixing it with PG first and then adding it to my mainly VG mix. even a small amount of PG is enough, i used 0.5ml pg mixed with 0.2ml cinnamon oil and it mixes to a clear solution with no oil droplets. Ive tried this with orange oil but no luck on that one. great guide btw thanks!

I've been vaping English Toffee Stevia with Tasty Vapor's Waffle and it really works. The flavor is really strong so, despite using just a couple of drops, it comes through when you the flavor to be a grace note rather than dominate.

I asked the person at SweetLeaf whether there is diacetyl in any of their flavored liquids. She didn't know and passed the question on to the production people. I haven't heard back yet.

For all the LorAnn people - You can get it at a lot of pharmacies. They seem to stock it all year. They won't have all the flavors, but it's worth asking if they will order for you. They probably won't charge you shipping and handling. You probably just have to wait until they put in their next order. I just was at Walgreen's last week and they had a nice selection. I've also gotten a lot at Acme grocery store (at their pharmacy). They carry a lot around the holidays - check maybe in October/November. They even special ordered some for me of flavors they didn't have in stock. But they will only do this at that certain time of year. I don't know when their "holiday" time starts.
Sorry Nikhil, I just now saw your question to me - 7 months later - kind of pathetic huh? Anyway, I don't really know, but thinking back to even when I was a kid, I can remember it being near the pharmacy in most drug stores. I think maybe the pharmacist used it to flavor kids' medicines and perhaps in some places they still do. It could have something to do with the "we've always done it that way" mindset. Also, I think people use some of the "oils" i.e., wintergreen, for medicinal purposes. I noticed at the Acme grocery store, the LorAnn's gets locked up when the pharmacy closes before the rest of the store. Go figure.

I would love to see an updated post for Post #2 of this Sticky. So much has changed.

A few of my favorites I'd like to report:

FlavourArt Hazelnut - 4%
FlavourArt Tiramisu - 8%
Tasty Puff Peach - 4%
Perfumer's Apprentice Peanut Butter - 15%
Perfumer's Apprentice Bittersweet - 15%

I know a guide like this is difficult to post because taste is so subjective and more flavors are becoming available to us on an ongoing basis. It would be so helpful though to have it all narrowed down a bit more.

Maybe there is a genius here who could create some kind of "ongoing poll" kind of sticky. I know it would be a mammoth undertaking, but it would be a priceless thing to have for me and probably many other DIYers.

Maybe it is somewhere in this big forum that has grown so much, but I couldn't find it and since this thread is a DIY "sticky" - I personally think this is the best place for such a guide.

(I need a "begging" emoticon here.) :)

Updated with your %'s Janet, no problem. Do you have ratings to go with them by any chance?

I'm not sure how an ongoing poll would work, but when there's a specific flavor or a new flavor that isn't listed here, anyone can start a poll asking for ratings, reviews, and percentage recommendations. I will add any information, I just need to be PM'd or have it posted in this thread because I don't want to subconsciously insert my bias and don't have as much time to spend in this forum unfortunately.

I like the Fa tobacco flavors at around 10% Virginia, Dark Vapure, Latakia and Perique Black between 12% and 15%

Wow! You mean FlavourArt and not Flavor's Apprentice? That's strong for FlavourArt from my past experience with it. Maybe I can add some more Tiramisu drops, because I still can't taste it quite as much as I'd like. This is a good example of information I need. FlavourArt is tricky for me because it is so concentrated, I have ruined batches by putting just one more drop in the mix. I've found when I've crossed the line of adding too much, the flavor doesn't even taste anything close to its assigned flavor name. I was afraid I maybe added too much Tiramisu and it was getting to the "edge of destruction!" (Going now to add one drop to my Tiramisu bottle and then wait a day to test-taste it....)

Nikhil, Ratings?

FlavourArt Hazelnut - 4% - 5/5
FlavourArt Tiramisu - 8% - 4/5
Tasty Puff Peach - 4% - 5/5
Perfumer's Apprentice Peanut Butter - 15% - 5/5 (assumption, because I usually mix it at 10% + 5% PA Honey or Banana)
Perfumer's Apprentice Bittersweet (my bottle says Bittersweet Extra. The website now says Bittersweet Chocolate Extra and has a note that it is a stronger version of the original) - 15% - 4/5 - If I had the new version, I'd probably try it at 10% at first.

Badmemory, I've been meaning to dilute my FlavourArt flavorings so they'd be easier to work with, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I think it's a very good idea. (However, I can barely see the surface of my kitchen counter as it is!) If they were sitting around in bottles at a diluted strength, I imagine one could test-taste them right away and get a decent idea if your recipe tastes good.

Nice job Pure!

Here's one for the awards section:
Best Watermelon: Lorann Watermelon

As a noob, I don't have a whole lot to compare it with, but I picked up a 2-pack of this at Hobby Lobby and mixed it at 25% in a mostly VG base at 18mg/ml nicotine and it tastes like watermelon hard candy. I like it. The next time I use it I will probably drop it to 20% and add a drop or two of peppermint EO or some menthol crystals.

I am new to this. and i am overwhelmed. i have a mixing kit with everything i need and 36 mg of nicotine. i need a medium strength and i am trying to read up on this diy thing, but noone is explaining it the way i need it explained. i can do it, i just need the measurements that i UNDERSTAND!!! ahhhh :)

Tell me what you are shooting for and what you have to work with and I will give you a hand with your formula if you'd like.

Hey Dpowell, what kit did you get? There are some good software tools as well, a mixing calculator is a good start, daath and breaktru have good calculators with example recipes.

Good Luck,
Jeff~

I can buy 500ml of 20%VG 80%PG with nictine from Freedom Smokes USA. Simple question is, to make 30Ml bottle of e-juice, how much flavoring do I add (in ML or CC, as I believe they are the same)?? I've heard 1% and I've heard 20%. So I'm really confused. If I have a starting point I can adjust, but 1-20% is too huge a gap. Appreciate any help.

This would be for a tobacco marlboro flavor juice.

The DIY calculator says 6ML per 30ML, others say 1ML per 30ML - dedcuting base to make even 30ML.

In the end, it will depend on you and how much flavor you like. I'd start with 5mL and 5% flavoring, let it sit for a day or two, and if you don't think it has enough flavor, add 5% more flavoring, and repeat this until you find the percentage that works for you. If you think 5% is too much flavor, then you could add 5mL more of the PG/VG/nic liquid to reduce the flavor percentage.

Everyone's taste buds are different and flavorings can vary with regard to the percentage to use. It's best to experiment with a small amount until you find the right flavor percentage.

It really depends a lot on what your base tobacco flavors are. For instance, some of the FlavourArts tobacco flavors are very strong, so they only get used at like 1% or 2% (0.3 to 0.6 ml per 30 ml).

On the other hand, I am doing some DIY using Perfumers Apprentice Tobacco Tri (something no longer available). For that flavoring, similar to when I use Seedman Commercial concentrate flavoring, I use about 12% (3.6 ml per 30 ml of final juice).

When I make tobacco juice I frequently add a bit of Perfumers Apprentice Tobacco Absolute diluted (diluted is their flavoring that comes pre-diluted in pure grain alcohol), just to add some "kick" to the rest of the tobacco juice. I only use 2 - 4 drops per 10ml of this TA diluted (about 0.2 - 0.4 ml of it per 30 ml of final liquid). TA is very strong, so I just add a little, shake and test.

If you get a copy of the scubabatdan Excel spreadsheet it gives some guidance, as do other online spreadsheets.
