Can someone give me some tips on how to get the switch apart on my GUS22 Core 18500? I've taken every switch apart on every mod I've owned.... but this C clip thing is got me stumped. I don't wanna break the damn thing or not be able to get it back together.

Only video I've seen is of someone putting the switch in a vice, placing a screw driver on the brass pin, and bashing the screw driver with a hammer until it pops out.... didn't wanna try that and break it. wasn't even sure if the GUS switch in the video was the same style as I one I have.

Here's what I got.

You should be able to put something like needle nose pliers in the holes to separate the c-clip to get the switch apart. Hope that helps if not let me know.

My needle nose don't go that skinny at the tips. Maybe I need to find a different size.

Editing, I was barely awake, they are Snap Ring Pliers that you need.

Home depot or Lowes have a fairly good selection of cheaper tools. That is an external snap-ring. You need external snap ring pliers. There are some that you can change from internal to external and have several different sized tips for various clips.

Harbor Freight and Sears should have them as well.

You can also set the tip of a smaller flathead screwdriver in between the flats there where the two litle holes are. Just slightly twist the screwdriver while pressing down and you will spread the clip apart enough to get it out of the grove. The snap ring pliers are better for this though as the screwdriver method will degrade the fastener fairly quick.

External snap ring pliers. Nice, I knew there had to be a name of tool that was perfect for the job. I guess I need to hit up home depot and see if I can find the right size one for a good price. I saw a tool at my buddies that looked like it was the correct kinda tool, but the prongs/tips were to thick. He didn't know what the tool was called though, lol.

I did give the screw driver trick a try, but after a couple mins I gave up because it looked like it might end up bending the clip and because I wasn't sure I could get the thing back on after getting it off.

Thanks for help man. I think I'll just bring the switch in with me to home depot so I can make sure I get the right size. Plus maybe I can get a few extra clips the same size incase I break one.

GummyB.. I had taken a small flat head screw driver to one of my switches.. Buggered the snap ring up. But was able to reassemble and bend the snap ring back (not recommended). I got a set of snap ring pliers from harbor freight, micro tip. They still do not fit the small holes. I then found that my tweezers fit the holes, i put a small screw driver between the tweezers blades to open the snap ring. repeat to install new snap ring. Harbor Freight has a nice snap ring set, that is were i found replacements. Also watch out for the delrin insulator in the switch. I have induced a few scratches on mine, not to bad. But i can see some one buggering the insulator easily.

Here is the link for snap ring assortment = http://www.harborfreight.com/300-piece-external-retaining-ring-assortment-67655.html#.UxI9kYWGeSo 5 bux

Dang, 300 piece ring set. That should hold me over a wile. Hopefully I can find the right size tool to fit in the small ring holes. Such a weird switch.
