I've been busy trying to find the number of the bill on that appropriation thingy.

Tracked this down: H. Rept. 114-531 - AGRICULTURE, RURAL DEVELOPMENT, FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION, AND RELATED AGENCIES APPROPRIATIONS BILL, 2017
Report Type: House Report
Accompanies: H.R.5054
Committees:
So I took that number and plugged it into google and got this: Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017 (H.R. 5054)

APR 26, 2016

Introduced
This is the first step in the legislative process.

APR 26, 2016

Reported by Committee
A committee has issued a report to the full chamber recommending that the bill be considered further. Only about 1 in 4 bills are reported out of committee.

Doesn't look like it has gone to the House yet after passing out of committee. Maybe someone that understands this can help out.

I'm looking, the person that reported it might have gotten confused since stuff done in 2016 is actually marked for 2017. Boy, this stuff is always such a mess.
I'm pretty certain they are confused. They might confuse committee passage as House passage or, as you say, the got the years wrong. The agriculture bill has not passed the House. In so far as I know, none of the 12 appropriation bills have passed the House. Many are still going through the markup process. I should note that the 2017 Agricultural appropriation is actually decreasing spending versus last year. I'm sure this will go over like a bad habit when the big spenders see this.

Yeah, I went back and changed my posts. I'll have to go track down the advocate that announced it (thinking it was someone rather well known) and kick them. ;)

Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2017 - Congress.gov Resources -

This page shows the progress of the various 2017 appropriations bills in the House and Senate. The agriculture bill has passed the House agriculture subcommittee, the full appropriations committee, and is ready to go to the House floor. The bill has yet to be brought up in the Senate.

PERFECT! That is exactly what I was looking for. Had to figure out in a convoluted way what that chart shows with one glance. Thank you.

Um, yeah...

...then there's this. I don't know if this is a govt. site, or what kind of site this is, but you can track legislation.
I didn't create an account, but I did bookmark the page.

HR3209 Recovering Missing Children Act

When this country was founded they wouldn't mess around with an act like this. If some dude abducted a kid the neighborhood would form a posse with muskets locked and loaded and find the SOB and blow hisass off and leave the carcass for the buzzards. Problem solved! Don't need no stinkin' act of congress.

I'm semi-rural. NC has some fairly decent laws here. They just passed a law a couple years ago saying that if someone comes in your house and you chase them down the street and blow them away you wont get prosecuted. Used to be you could only smoke them if they were inside your house.

We're about 10+ miles away from much of anything. We're kind of a prime target for robbers. So pretty much everyone is armed here. I pity the soul who thinks they can rob anyone here. One night some kids were playing ding dong ditch. A few days later their mom walked them to all the houses they pulled their prank on to make him apologize. Some 13 year old kid. I told him I really didn't care because I did it when I was a kid. But I told him everyone in the neighborhood is packing heat and the first thing we do is grab our gun. I says to him, I'd sure hate to see you get shot over a stupid kid prank. I look over and his mom's jaw was dropped all the way to the ground. I'm guessing she wasn't pleased with me but I have a feeling it was effective. :)

I think we call that "ring and run" here. We had that happen too.
Thing is, now...you don't know if it's kids playing, whoever it was could have just as easily had a gun to rob you.
Most homeowners around here are armed as well.

...sorry, don't want to derail your thread off topic. I'm used to posting in the Lounge. ;)
