I have been vaping for about 2 1/2 months. I am curious if anyone has found they can go longer between vaping than they did on analogs. I was a 1-2 pack a day smoker and I didn't go anywhere without a pack. As soon as I hit the car I lit up and at work it was first priority on breaks. Since I have been vaping I find that I often leave the PV at home if I am only going to be gone for a few hours and I don't have any of the old panicky or crabby emotions if I don't have it with me.

To me vaping feels much more like a fun hobby than a nasty habit. I have even cut WAY back on the nicotine since first starting and am not missing the high octane stuff at all.

I haven't been at this very long, but it's already becoming more of a hobby. I still don't go anywhere without a pv, but I take my old goat to work, and it stays in my pocket way longer than my packs of cigarettes ever did. The increased productivity is a good thing :) Then it's 808 and 808 pt at home. The funny thing is, my family thinks I use it MORE than I did cigarettes because they never saw me smoke when I went outside to do it

No reason why it cannot be both :)

I haven't dabbled in DIY liquid, but I plan to quite soon. That in itself is a complete time consuming hobby, that looks like a great deal of fun! DIY mods as well. Mod and pv collecting, juice mongering, and what-nots :D

Vaping saves lives but it brings so much more to the table as well. The ECF is the backing to a HUGE network of information, commonalities, and friendships. I don't know if the hobby spectrum would be as large without the ECF. I know there would still be people doing their 'thang', but the ECF is a highway that allows us to share each others info, thoughts, ideas, and allow us to share something that most of us cannot at this time share with those in our local areas :)

So yes, vaping subdues our habit brought on from disgusting and horrendous cigarette smoking. Both physiological and psychological. But, through the ECF and other vaping forums (I suppose), it becomes so much more. It's a life of it's own, a common town where we all know one another and for the most part, help one another. A hobby indeed.

Edit: I think I might have veered off of the original subject a bit

Everything you are talking about is quite common around here.

We see lots of people talking about how they have cut down their nicotine quite easily.
We see lots of people talking about how they have gone long periods without vaping and experienced no discomfort.

As far as I'm concerned there can be no doubt that nicotine is nowhere near as addictive as people say it is.
I think the evidence that the additives in cigarettes act in concert to make cigarettes far more addictive is overwhelming at this point.

On the other hand, there are many who do not enjoy these same experiences, and seem to need nicotine more than others.
And there are those that seem to need the cocktail of MAOIs and nicotine that can be found in tobacco.

In other words, the physiology of each person is different from the person next to them.
And our addictions, habits, and choices are often just as different.

Electronic cigarettes present an opportunity to look at things in a different way, and to learn from that.
But in the end, the important thing, and the hardest thing, is getting the rest of the world to listen, understand, or ever care.

Great point. It is frustrating to know there is an alternative out there that works for many but is met with ignorance and knee jerk legislation.

It's a habit to replace a more dangerous habit for me, not a hobby, smoking cessation device (but don't tell the media, they'll just sensationalize it more). Transitioned to eGo/Riva 510 and that is good enough for me. I used to be able to go out up to half a day without analogs, but always carried them with me just in case, haven't carried PV with me in 4 months of vaping, but there's still an unused pack of analogs in the car...for the unforeseen. One day, I'll let the PV out of the house. :)

Well think about it, how many forums did you go on or even found purely dedicated to smoking analogues and traditional tobacco products? I'd wager none. My cigarette smoking was purely to feed an addiction, an addiction that if I'd not changed to vaping would eventually have killed me and cost me a fortune at the same time.

These nothing new, exciting or exciting about cigarettes. They are sold in almost every newsagents, garage and Super Market you go in. They have been around for over a century and have only one function: to hook you on nicotine and to make you contuine using that product until you died from it.

Vaping is a newer, safer and dam sight more interesting way to get nicotine then smoking. I'd argue it's far more social too since unlike smoking you are not outcast from society and the negative image of smoking that society has. Vaping has an array of devices, liquids and delivery methods dedicated to it, some weird and some wonderful.

It's a genuine exciting time to be a smoker now and be free of being stuck with something that will kill you in the end. Instead as Vapers we have choice, freedom and community. Vaping is a hobby and a habit, mbut a habit I no longer need to feel ashamed of or concerned for mine others welfare when I partake in it.

I smoked like a freight train and I vape like a humidifier. For me, it's a habit that has turned into a hobby with the addition of DIY in my repertoire. I have adopted a way of life that won't kill me like smoking was. I feel so much better now!

I have noticed that I can go for a few hours without vaping like crazy lately, so I have no doubt that I can cut down the nic levels. This is good stuff as far as I'm concerned.

I think it is both a habit and hobby although I started vaping to get rid of the nasty analog habit. I have wound up with all kinds of pv's. My house is starting to look like a e-cig store. I have lots of e-liquids and am now really getting into diy-ing. I have made quite a few liquids of my own which are really good and I think taste better than the store bought ones. I carry my pv's everywhere and they have turned into my security blanket LOL

Habit without a doubt. You vape because you like the way what it does for you as do I.

I went to 0 nic for a few weeks, and i was at the point, not getting anything out of this anymore nor do I need what I was getting out of it. I went back to nic, why? Simply because I liked what I was getting out of it, it's a habit on so much more then a physical level.

My vaping and smoking habit..totally different. My vaping obsession much safer..lol. I tend to vape for a bit and then put it aside and come back to it later. Take a few more hits..rinse and repeat..lol. In the mornings with coffee is when I vape the most and this is same as cigs. But for the rest of the day...totally diff. I like that I can sit it down anywhere pretty much...and I do. The biggest diff is in the car around town. I always have it with...but I noticed I dont use it as much in the car...my car used to be one of my fav places for smoking. I'd say I vape less than I smoked..but then again..I smoked 1.5 ppd which was TOO MUCH. I notice thought that when you find that sweet spot on juice..the juice goes fast..but my vaping time didn't change..strangely. Just yummie juice and longer hits?

I say both as well. I used to carry my smokes everywhere with me...like a ball and chain! My pv stays at home or at my desk at work. But I have no issue leaving them behind for a few hours either.

Funny thing though, when I tanked my atty with no backup recently, I smoked analogs for a bit until my new atty arrived. (I have backups now.) I totally missed being able to sit at my desk and vape. I hated having to go outside for a smoke while it was 118 degrees!!

It's a vice that can quickly become an addiction. And tolerance to nicotine increases the longer you vape, just like most other drugs that are used. Good luck. I hope you are using ecigs to counteract serious respiratory/heart problems.

HTH,
Dave
