It's both! I am definitely not one to say "Man I've saved so much money not buying cigs" Because if anything, the bankroll has been more effected by vaping. In a more positive way though. I'm making investments, rather then blowing money on something that will be completely expendable in a matter of a couple days. There's nothing better then getting Vapemail!

Both I think. I got a Vgo a year ago, used it for a bit then fell back to stinkies an didn't touch it for a while. Then I started thinking about it again, forced myself to use it for a week and cut down from 1 PAD to 7 or less per day. Then bought an Ego kit, gave the Vgo to my bro and quit the stinkies entirely. Trying to see if I can exchange the base kit and upgrade right now, if not I am going to have some explaining to do to the wife so I can get a nice tube mod like a provape-1 or something equivalent. So yeah, habit turning hobby very quickly lol.

Been a smoker for 30 plus years and started vaping for 6 months now. I went the usual route starting with disposables, then to 808s with carts. Now using a eGo twist and have bought different carts, tanks, clearomizers, and now atomizers. E-Juice is endless! I'm even now playing with DIY mixtures.
So, spending more time on this forum, spending way more money on hardware and juices than analog cigs, and starting to vape more often than I did with cigarettes.
I dont really have the nicotine craving anymore ( I vape with 12mg now). But looking at all the new hardware, new juices, etc makes me want to try them all.
Psychosis maybe?

Very recognizable. I spend a lot more money on hardware, juices and DIY stuff than i would even bought analogs upfront. But looking at the rate my ticker goes, i will reach a break-even point within 4 months from now. That is, if i stop buying new stuff all the time. The last purchases came in yesterday: 2 EGO twist batts. Now i feel that i have everything i need to just enjoy the vaping. (Though i've said the same thing to me last week when the last juices arrived :)

I have been smoking for more than 10 years, n only to come across to vaping since last year. Here e cig per pack of 20s cost ard US9. I can last 2 days wif one pack. If exclude all those trial n error juice n carto n tanks etc, I would say definitely vaping is cheaper than analogs.

That is a major factor in if you will save money right there. Where I live in MO I can still get 3 packs of the cheapies for $7.50, or a carton for $22.

I think if I could get a carton for $22 I may still be smoking or at least very tempted to. Now, I'm glad I am Vapping.

Here in north FL we got our cigs for $15 a carton....they were labeled "cigars" but they were just cigarettes in brown paper and labeled like that to avoid the cigarette tax. Worked for us! At $15 a carton, it wasn't like it was a huge expense...except for the little detail that between my hubby's 1 carton a week and my 2 cartons a week...that was $45 a week. Sometimes more because, sadly, as a chain vaper[EDIT..I mean "smoker"] I sometimes went up to 3 PAD. Mainly my motivation was health. Both hubby and I had developed high blood pressure and in my case anemia and gout and sinusitis, too. And guilt. Lots of guilt for being one of those outcast smokers not welcome anywhere. The money was an aside. I never really believed that we'd "save" money with e-cigs. Or not much. But it seemed like a trade off that might pay off in the health and social dept.

No regrets. But I have spent a LOT more money on vaping than we were doing on smoking. I tell myself that was because we had to find our perfect set up (hubby is still looking for his). And the health benefits and the sense of being able to hold my head up high and not be self conscious about how I smell or how yellow my teeth are, or how bad my breath is...that makes me feel good. The expenses are going down quick for me. I have found my "perfect" juice in my DIY menthol and am profoundly happy. I don't even LIKE other juices now. I have landed on the equipment I like and the delivery system that works perfect for me. I anticipate I WILL see some pay off this second year of vaping regarding my wallet. My juice expense has gone to practically zip. I maybe have to buy a few supplies every 6 months or so...and they add up to way less than what I was spending a month on premade juice. I have a pile of hardware now...but have landed happily on a couple that are perfect for me and my needs. And one is fully rebuildable with replaceable parts. I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! Maybe this time next year I can report that I really HAVE saved money....yet am still enjoying a habit and a hobby I enjoy...and I smell good, too!

I'm beginning to think that a "sweet spot" is a myth. Every time I think "This is the best combo for me", one of my other devices or juices starts beckoning. Then I log on to ECF and there's more candy in the window......

The difference between hobby and obsession is ever so slight.

I second that

I had an expensive habit, now I have an expensive hobby. Now, instead of all the money going up in smoke, I have a bunch of cool little gadgets to show for it, at least. I love having options. I always bring my kicked telescope and vmod XL with me when I work, but I might use 6 different setups throughout the course of a day at home. It's half the fun for me. Plus, with the stuff I have sitting around, I have helped a few friends quit smoking. "Here, try this for a couple days, if you like it, we'll order you a nice setup." tl;dr - worth it.
