Is vaping a hobby or a habit for you?

Smoking has become such an inconvienece these days, between the restrictions and the high prices, it was almost easy to kick the habit.

I don't feel that vaping is simply replacing one bad vice with another. Besides being healthier, it's just more convenient. Even when I have to hide the LED to avoid unwanted attention, it's still better than having to stop what I'm doing whether at work or at a bar and go outside to get your fix.

I've only been vaping for a month or so but I already see a huge difference between the two. I don't find myself HAVING to stop what I'm doing every 30 minutes and vape. I can take a few drags throughout the day and not have to vape a cigarettes worth at a time.

Plus I'm sure I could quit anytime.*

I could quit tomorrow. Well, maybe not tomorrow. Probably in a month.... or a few months....

Okay, deffinitely by the end of the year.*

I'm not addicted. I'M NOT! *Stop looking at me like that.*

What? You think you're better than me?

Get away from my 555! *It's mine, ALL MINE!!*

GET OFF MY BACK!!!!!!!

Lol I agree with Trog, the hobby factor gets old after a while BUT..there is, for some of us at least, always going to be the flavor issue which will kick it up from just a habit. Just like deciding what to eat is more than just giving your body the nutrition it needs, so trying new flavors or cooking up new flavors brings an entirely new dimension to vaping that smoking never had. I do not know a single smoker who, on a daily basis, kept trying new and different "analogs" but, even if you have found your perfect all day, and out for the evening piece of equipment..there are always going to be the flavors t o play with.

the hobby factor wears off in the end.. then you ether quit or just accept its a "habit"..

trog

Surely the two arent mutually exclusive? With most hobbies there is a period of experimentation and equipment collection, then there is the doing because it is a habit that you enjoy. I don't think I could give up knitting or reading any more then I could give up smoking, but I still think of them as hobbies.

To me it seems like it could be the enjoyment that makes smoking just a habit and vaping a habit-hobby?

Best for not thinking too much into it,, just going with the flow I will have anything that I want when I want it...., I stopped analogs, then I stopped taking my e cig out of the house, in the car, while talking on the phone, after meals, or with coffee.... No more first thing when I roll out of bed... It's hook constantly to my computer and find myself holding it more and more then vaping it...

If you had asked me 80 days ago if this would be the results of trying vaping I would of laughed and laughed and luaghed at you.....

so I would have to say it is neither Habit or Hobby ,, it just is what it is I don't think into it...

For me it's definitely both habit and hobby. The daily vaping is a habit, but the desire to experiment with mixing my own flavors is a hobby. I guess the difference is that I could, if necessary, give up DIY flavor mixing and still be happy with vaping. I could not give up vaping without going back to analogs for my nicotine and the hand to mouth habit that I think I'm as addicted to as I am to nicotine. I'd hate it and it would taste nasty, but I'd do it.

For me it is a habbit and the quest for the best rig or combination thereof. However, I do find myself fiddling with it constantly. Let me take a hit off this device and see how it is working. Is there enough th? Is there enough juice in my cart? No, I'll put a couple more drops in. This juice taste good. Which one will I try next? Let me try this other device. Didn't like that much, maybe the batt needs charging? Is that batt charged yet? Should I take that batt off the charger and put another one in? Maybe I should clean the atty on this one. There are two schools of thought on cleaning attys. Should I clean this one and see if there is an improvement. No, it's fine now that I put a new batt and refilled the cart. I can't wait until that new mod goes back into production....

Habit, hobby, and obsession - definitely. This all really came as a surprise to me. I never really intended to give up analogs - It just happened. Last week, I went back to analogs for one day after having been without for two weeks, and I hated it. This is after having smoked heavily for more than forty years. The smell, the mess, the taste .... the whole kitten kaboodle felt nasty.

Now - I enjoy the taste, the fact that I'm getting healthier, and I love playing with creating flavors. LorAnn's and Cabella's have provided infinite possibilities for new tasty treats. It seems that I don't feel compelled to snack anymore.

While it's true that I've only replaced one habit with another, I don't have to feel guilty about it. (Except for all of the money that I've spent on this new obsession).

I think many of you will agree with this one...

If I took a piece of paper and wrote down everything I liked about smoking and everyhing I hated about smoking, everyting in the like column would be what I like about vaping. Everything in the hate column would be gone. And there's a third column, things I would have liked while smoking that I can do now that I vape.

Vaping has really set me free (unless I'm tied to the old USB ball and chain). I think quitting vaping would be relatively easy, but I'd never stop because even with no-nic I'd still have most of the things I enjoyed. I though I enjoyed smoking, but I love vaping.
