Hello everyone, I'm hoping you could help suggest some fixes and or alternatives to what I've been encountering. Let me start off by saying I got off into e-cigarettes around October of last year. I purchased an e-cigarette at a "Smoke shop" for my sister last September and immediately she was enamored with the thing.

It was a eGo-T battery with a Vision V2 cartomizer. It worked rather well, great vape action and throat feel, it actually was a decent replacement for smoking. So I got the bright idea that I'd go online and get a better deal.

So I placed my order and ended up with the same eGo batteries but ended up with a stainless steel tank cartomizer with two holes punched in the bottom, I ordered several ranges from 1.5~2.8 ohms. I can't really remember now.

They worked initially rather well, but I just didn't seem to get the same quality of vapor that my sisters Vision V2's got. Also they wouldn't last as long, she'd go for weeks on end, and I'd blow through a cartomizer in about a week or so, the odd thing is I don't even use the e-cigarette as much.

So after getting super jelly, I go to the same smoke shop and buy a Vision V2 clearomizer, only problem is they sell these for about 15 bucks a pop. It was kinda worth it. It would last for about two weeks then fizzle out then I'd buy another coil for seven or so bucks.

I finally had it with the local smoke shop and placed an order for what looked like Vision V2 clearomizers, and a bunch of V2 replacement coils. Horrible luck, didn't last as long and they turn the ejuice almost black after a few puffs or so.

So I resign myself to buying name brand, well you can't find the V2 any longer, so I tried the V3 with the four wick configuration, that stinks too!

Fast forward 9 months and I've got a veritible grave yard full of clearomizer bodies, drip tips, coil resistances, stems and god knows what else. I just can't really find a consistent, reliable smoke after trying all these different versions what have you.

What's worse is that the clearomizers from the smoke shop which were reliable are starting to get bad now, they have a burning smell to them like they're not producing just vapor any longer. Sometimes I take a drag and I get the feeling there's other products besides just PG/VG vapor getting produced.

Does anyone know of any cartomizer/clearomizer that consistently works well and lasts a decent amount of time? The other thing that would be nice is that they produce more than one initial run of said clearomizer.

It seems the nature of these e-cigarette parts since they're cranked out in China is that as soon as one design hits the scene they stamp out about a million of the things, then the next fad comes out and they're tooling up for the latest clearomizer fad. Then you go back online to find replacement parts for your original purchase and you're out of luck because no one's producing that model any longer.

I understand the e-cig phenomenon is in it's fledgling stages but the supply channel issues are like out of this world!

Maybe I'm doing something wrong too, there is that. Is there some kind of clearomizer maintenance regimen I need to undertake routinely to keep these things from flooding out or stop burning up?

I'm at the end of my wick!

HELP!

I'm pretty happy with Kanger T3 but those are about to get discontinued. So you may want to get a T3S. See the thing with cartos is that they are pretty much disposable. They are designed to last about a week and then be tossed into the bin (though you can get more mileage out of them if you vape light colored liquids with higher levels of PG).

These are bottom coils, which in my opinion are superior to top coils. Also the bottom coil allows for gravity to work for you in relation to wicking. My coils tend to last 3-6 for the T3.

As for the supply chain problem, I think this is the result of two different factors. 1. Many of the makers in China are not limited to making e-cig parts/components etc. 2. Chinese products have poor quality control in general. Thats true not only of e-cig related things but just about everything made in China.

As for the presence of things other than PG, VG, nicotine (I'm assuming you are using a nicotine containing juice) and flavorings I'm not sure what to tell you. Personally I DIY juice, but if I have to buy it there are tons of American made E-liquids out there.

If you don't want to fiddle and prefer consistency over inconsistency, then I would switch to a tank-cartomizer set-up. The carto's cost about $2.00 each and will last anywhere from 10 days - 15 days before needing to be replaced. With a 5ml tank, you should only need to refill once a day. Easy, more consistent and less hassle.

Well, for a reliable clearomizer that's cheap and, easy to use and, delivers as well as any clearomizer on the flavor and vapor, Lucy's Vapor Store has some that are good for what they are. Those are what I give all my new converts as gift sets, certainly not top end as vaping goes, but very suitable rigs for starters and, I think very close to what you previously enjoyed.

Try the Innokin iclear Im not a big fan of clearos or cartos but I have to say the iclear has held up and makes some tasty vape. Make sure with any clearomizer or cartomizer that you dont fire them if the wick is dry make sure you turn it upside down every few hits to get the wicks wet with clearomizers and take some hits without pushing the fire button every once in a while with cartomizers..

You can maybe learn how to rebuild the coils in the V2 (if you didn't throw them away): http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ing-coil-vision-stardust-v2-happyesmoker.html . It's not super difficult, once you get the hang of it.

Beyond that, you are kind of down there on the bottom (or near the bottom) rung of the ladder as far as consistency and reliability is concerned. The Kanger Evod and Protank Mini (just came out this month) are good quality bottom-coil clearomizers. You'll need/want to learn to rebuild those coils as well, but since all Kanger products use the exact same coils - which is becoming the defacto standard for many bottom-coil clearomizers on the market - they won't be going 'out of style' anytime soon.

i use Vision V2's the issue with them are they don't wick very well, i normally have to tilt them to the side to insure the wick stays wet at the coil. They do not work well with VG based thick liquids in fact with a 1.8 head and my favorite 100 VG based liquid it actually fowls the tank and smells like chemicals. the 2.4 resistance head works much much better but you have to make sure the wick stays wet. Mine last at least 2 weeks as long as i am mindful of the wick.

I been hearing lots of great things about the protank. so i ordered one and thats what i will try next.

I agree with Wv2win. I used the ce4 and the taste was just not there, too @ 5.00 bucks a pop and the bootleg clearomizers. I went with the Texas tuff tank 7.99,a pack of boge Cartos and the flavors POPPED:vapor: I buy the tank from Valley vapes and the cartos get cheaper,if you order 5 boxes at a time. They are prepunched. NOW occasionally you will get a bad Carto that will leave a bad taste in your mouth, but that is few and far between. Their is a video,on Vapedudes, that show you how to use the tank and prime. Priming is the key. I clean the cartos with steam, from my espresso machine, steamer tool. I have used these tanks for 7 months and they are wonderful and can take any liquid you put in it,citrus, licorice, cinnamon. The boge carto will gum up with darker liquids, but that is the nature of the beast, but Flavor is great. good luck to you and happy vape trails. Oh the Vamo with these tanks will blow you away.

What about a Protank or IBtanked kit and boge cartos?

Protank heads are pretty cheap or you can rebuild yourself, and boges are affordable.

Exactly what I would recommend. Get a carto punch and you're ready to rock and roll. The standard boge's are my favorite, using either reistance, and my vape experience is about ten times better than the clearos, YMMV. Great flavor and big vapor. Me likee. What he said^^^.

Already said he tried it & didn't like it.

No, he said he had to replace them in about a week. Which depending on the type/brand is not that uncommon.

I'm suggesting a glass tank with Smoketek, Boge or IKenvape cartomizers. As with anything vaping, it does require "trial & error" and patience to get the right set-up for the particular vaper.

This set-up will provide less maintenance and more consistency than most clearos.

Finding the right setup is definitely a journey as you can see all the poster on this thread and all threads here on ECF speak from personal experience. Just keep in mind that what taste/works like a champ for one might not be the one for you. Dont be discouraged at all. There are multiple setups for tank delivery systems out there.

Clearomizers:
KANGER EVOD/ProTank (Bottom Coil)
Vision VIVI NOVA/MINI VIVI NOVA (Top Coil)
INNOKIN i10/i30 (Top Coil)

Cartomizers:
Smok
Boge
Can also be used in conjunction with a tank (Carto Tanks)

RDA's/RBA's:
Nimbus
Igo-W/L
Phoenix
etc.

the list is quite extensive only barely scraping the tip of whats out there for you to choose from. These are what work for me so please we all hope you keep searching for your set up and stay away from analogs!! (Damn you gotta love Spell Check):vapor::vapor:

I prefer the clearomizers like the Kanger Protank, Vivi Nova, and VapeOnly BCG to carto tanks.

The point is you're going to have to run through quite a few different clearomizer, tanks, cartos till you find the one you like. My preference is bottom coil for the cooler hit. I've also had less leaking problems with the Protank, Vivi Nova, and BCG than I've had with all the throw away clearomizers.
