Had some issues. Someone suggested I post it here, so I just copied and pasted what was on my "Beginner's" thread.

Well folks, I'm afraid I have some sad news from this "vaper wanna-be".:( My vaping has been put on hold for awhile. Just how long, I can't say for sure. I am so incredibly disappointed, but something went hay wire along the way and until I can figure out exactly what happened, the vaping has to stop.:(

I'll do a little recap here and then add the more recent events.

As some of you know, my eGo arrived a week ago last Thursday - which began my journey into the world of vaping. I was so excited, but also very confused. With the help of you folks here - and Rick at EcigBestSave - I finally figured out what was in my package (for the most part) and how to use it (for the most part). I began vaping that afternoon, with the prefilled USA red mix carts that came with the kit. Right away I didn't like the "nothingness" of that flavor (well - actually there wasn't any flavor), learned here that my complaint was a common one, and went on to place another order via Rick for some 26mg. cherry cartomizers. Due to the 4th of July holiday being that coming Monday, I didn't get the cherry flavor until Tuesday, the 5th. Meanwhile I continued to use the USA mix, was frustrated by the lack of "anything", but kept at it. I was still smoking regular cigs as well - although quite a bit less than I normally would. I chugged water like crazy (having been told I would need to do that), struggled a bit with some headaches and "bathroom issues", but nothing serious enough to back away from the whole concept.

Tuesday arrived, I began using the cherry flavored cartomizers and loved the taste! :) Still couldn't totally eliminate the cigs though, but eventually figured out this wasn't a "race". Since my funds are extremely limited (and rolling my own cigs were costing me less than $2 a pack and I had plenty of supplies here), I opted to purchase a sample kit of several flavors to see if I could find "just the right one" that would satisfy me enough that my eGo would definitely be preferable to my cigs. Samples arrived on Thursday and I was very impressed with the Dutch apple pie. Something in that flavoring really reminded me of actually smoking, so I was using that flavor more often than the cherry - with the occasional cigs here and there (mostly first thing in the morning with my coffee). I thought everything was going well - until I noticed late Friday that I was starting to get a little sick to my stomach and was getting a headache again. Rather than end up with a full blown headache, I decided to go to bed earlier than I normally would.

Two hours after I fell asleep, I woke up rather abruptly in serious pain. I wasn't sure if I was having a heart attack or the worst case of acid reflux/heartburn in the history of mankind. I wasn't sweating though - and I thought I remembered reading somewhere that when you're having a heart attack you sweat profusely - so I stumbled out of bed and found a packet of Alka Seltzer. (The only packet I had.) So I put one tablet in 4 ounces of lukewarm water, sat in my chair, and sipped it slowly. After a bit, the pain let up enough to the point where I felt I could rule out the heart attack, so I took a mild sedative I have on hand (for claustrophobia and other issues) and went back to bed. Woke up Saturday morning and was so gosh darn sick, the heart attack was starting to look good.:( Severe intestinal cramps; severe bathroom issues; severe nausea; pounding headache; and my stomach felt like a horse had kicked me in the gut. Coffee and cigs were a no-go; vaping was a no-go; wanting to lay down and die was a "bring it on".

I kept trying to get up and do something - anything - but nothing was working right. At one point I rushed into the bathroom (thought I was going to heave), caught my toe on something (either broke it or sprained it badly), fell backwards and slammed my shoulder into the door jamb. I crawled into bed. Tried to sleep but couldn't - even though I was exhausted. Tried to read, I couldn't. Got up and tried to vape, I couldn't. Tried to drink some water, I couldn't. Tried to smoke, I couldn't. Tried to eat, I couldn't. Basically I just spent 99% of Satuday laying on my bad, in the bathroom (trying to heave or "other), or slumped in my chair. I spent a lot of time praying for something - anything - to improve. It didn't. Eventually I called it quits and went to bed for the night.

Woke up yesterday morning - repeat of Saturday - (minus the toe and shoulder incident) - except I was able to have a couple of cups of coffee and a couple of cigs. Tried to vape once (the Dutch apple pie) and immediately wanted to heave. That was the end of that. No more vaping for the rest of the day or evening. When the nic cravings got too bad, I had a few puffs of a cig and then put it out. My daughter came wandering in, I told her my tale of woe and she wondered the same thing I was wondering - "Was it the changing of flavors?" It seems that up until I did that, I was doing pretty well - nothing bothersome enough to decide I wasn't going to vape at all. She suggested that I go back to square one. Stop vaping entirely for a week - or at least until several days had passed without any issues - and if I could afford it, order some more of the cherry cartomizers (from Rick) and when they arrived, use only them for 2 or 3 weeks - no other flavors. I was so miserable at that point, I was agreeable to just about anything.:(

Woke up this morning, only 2 "bathroom issues" (not as bad as over the weekend), had my coffee, had my cigs with it, and have smoked - rather than vape - all day long. All the other "nastys" seem to be gone, so I'm really leaning towards the idea that it had something to do with the flavorings.

Tomorrow I have to pay all of my bills for this month - will see what's left and then try to order some more of the 26mg cherry cartomizers from EcigBestSave. (Don't want to try the other place where I got the samples just in case their flavorings don't agree with me. Nothing against the company - I just happen to have a very, very sensitive digestive system.)

After I have been symptom-free for a week (maybe less) and I can return to the cherry flavor, I will start all over again - a "second-hand" newbie. Till then, I'm feeling pretty down in the dumps - but so glad I'm not that sick anymore. I could not have taken that for more than a couple of days.

Is this where I get kicked out of the club? :(

I will say some flavours are not good. I recently tried some JC Timmy's double double. I have had and still have JC juices, but that DD near killed me. I was wheezing, hacking and coughing worse than my analog days. it made me very ill. I know others love it. I gave the bottle to friends and they love it... something in that flavour combo doesn't like my lungs.

I even boiled that carto and rinsed it well. when I filled it with something else I had traces of the wheeze came back after a couple vapes so I tossed the carto out.

What base are the USA red mix and Cherry in (base meaning PG/VG)? Some people have reactions to PG, others to VG. After clearing things up and you get a chance, you might want to look into getting a sample juice in mainly PG and one in mainly VG to test; just so if you were having a PG or VG reaction, you will know to avoid the one causing the problem(s).

Good Luck and hoping you can "get your vape on" again! :)

Oh God, I am so sorry you were so sick!
Is it possible that this is severe withdraw from tobacco? Especially since you roll your own? I mean, it is not like those are camel lights or anything.... Those must be strong... And my understanding is that you have been smoking for a long long while...
Withdraw can be nasty sometimes, and it can make you quite sick :(
Hope you get better...

yagottawanna,

Was there an expiration date on the pre-filled carto's you purchased or no date nothing at all ? I would suggest some blank Boge 2ohm carto's and some fresh juice purchased at a well known juice vendor here on the forum ( you decide who ) fill your own cartos and start over with this, my thoughts after reading your post was if you had gotten some bad juice in those cartos. I'm not sure that's it at all just a thought, also it would be much easier for you an less expensive buying a 30ml bottle of Fresh juice and filling your own if your tight on funds. Just one suggestion I will make for the juice as well, tastyvapor has 4 weekly specials every week, 30ml's = $10 it's super cheap deal and some very fine juice. Hope your feeling better yagottawanna and as soon as you can Vape On, it's so much better than the nasty's and you will feel so much better that you just "gottawanna" vape :2cool:

Surprised you're willing to possibly punish yourself again. I've had the no taste or bad taste episodes but none of the sickness. Personally I'd steer away from all sweet smelling or sweet sounding liquids and look for something that matches what you taste with the cigs. Seek the match that gives you something as close as you can find to your cig experience. Get comfortable there - when found. I'd steer away from VG at this point. In my experience, VG tends to dull the taste and take me closer to those bad no taste episodes. Just my thoughts - but, of course, what works for one may not work for someone else.

I'm sorry to hear you were sick. But I'm glad you got over it when you stopped vaping it.

If that were me, I'd throw it in the trash. Only you know your body and I'm sure you can tell if it was the flu or that stuff you were vaping. There's plenty of bad e-juice out there. I know, I have a whole garbage bag full of it and the stink from it is disgusting. I got sick and threw it in the garage for proper disposal. Two days later, the garage reeked of the smell, horribly. And I still smell it a week later! My cat went in there and immediately started to vomit. The fact that she was fine once she left the garage was infinitely smarter than some humans.

Now I'm not normally someone that gets sick, but a month or so out of nowhere I felt worse than I can ever remember feeling. Your symptoms sound a lot like mine except for the headache. I'm guessing you had some form of virus, but you never know. I'd wait till you feel normal and give it another shot, just go easy.

I don't know what you smoked and how much you were vaping. It's always possible you were getting too much nicotine, but that would be my second choice.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a doc check you ouy if you're still having issues.

I've posted this a lot but I really think certain flavors affect people differently. I was using Smoketip cartos until they screwed me and sent me 30/40 blanks and refused to send me more. So I had to vape only the sampler packs from vapor 4 life and bloog that I had on hand for several days until my Johnson creek juice arrived. The flavors weren't bad but after like 2-3 days of switching them out I felt like crap, my throat was sore, my sinuses irritated and I had some blood in my sinuses. When the JC juice arrived I loved it and every symptom stopped instantly and they are my daily vape--my throat doesn't even dry out much. So I maintain that all these Chinese flavors esp from vendors like Smoketip whose qc sucks aren't necessarily the best for everyone. Not saying to try JC, I'm simply suggesing people should shop around for some flavor that their body seems to like the best and is gentle... I literally tried 35 flavored cartos from three vendors and the instant I tried the JC choc truffle it agreed with my throat and sinuses better than even lower nic cartos... Just something to consider. Not all flavors are equal...
