Well folks, I'm afraid I have some sad news from this "vaper wanna-be".
My vaping has been put on hold for awhile. Just how long, I can't say for sure. I am so incredibly disappointed, but something went hay wire along the way and until I can figure out exactly what happened, the vaping has to stop.
I'll do a little recap here and then add the more recent events.
As some of you know, my eGo arrived a week ago last Thursday - which began my journey into the world of vaping. I was so excited, but also very confused. With the help of you folks here - and Rick at EcigBestSave - I finally figured out what was in my package (for the most part) and how to use it (for the most part). I began vaping that afternoon, with the prefilled USA red mix carts that came with the kit. Right away I didn't like the "nothingness" of that flavor (well - actually there wasn't any flavor), learned here that my complaint was a common one, and went on to place another order via Rick for some 26mg. cherry cartomizers. Due to the 4th of July holiday being that coming Monday, I didn't get the cherry flavor until Tuesday, the 5th. Meanwhile I continued to use the USA mix, was frustrated by the lack of "anything", but kept at it. I was still smoking regular cigs as well - although quite a bit less than I normally would. I chugged water like crazy (having been told I would need to do that), struggled a bit with some headaches and "bathroom issues", but nothing serious enough to back away from the whole concept.
Tuesday arrived, I began using the cherry flavored cartomizers and loved the taste!
Still couldn't totally eliminate the cigs though, but eventually figured out this wasn't a "race". Since my funds are extremely limited (and rolling my own cigs were costing me less than $2 a pack and I had plenty of supplies here), I opted to purchase a sample kit of several flavors to see if I could find "just the right one" that would satisfy me enough that my eGo would definitely be preferable to my cigs. Samples arrived on Thursday and I was very impressed with the Dutch apple pie. Something in that flavoring really reminded me of actually smoking, so I was using that flavor more often than the cherry - with the occasional cigs here and there (mostly first thing in the morning with my coffee). I thought everything was going well - until I noticed late Friday that I was starting to get a little sick to my stomach and was getting a headache again. Rather than end up with a full blown headache, I decided to go to bed earlier than I normally would.
Two hours after I fell asleep, I woke up rather abruptly in serious pain. I wasn't sure if I was having a heart attack or the worst case of acid reflux/heartburn in the history of mankind. I wasn't sweating though - and I thought I remembered reading somewhere that when you're having a heart attack you sweat profusely - so I stumbled out of bed and found a packet of Alka Seltzer. (The only packet I had.) So I put one tablet in 4 ounces of lukewarm water, sat in my chair, and sipped it slowly. After a bit, the pain let up enough to the point where I felt I could rule out the heart attack, so I took a mild sedative I have on hand (for claustrophobia and other issues) and went back to bed. Woke up Saturday morning and was so gosh darn sick, the heart attack was starting to look good.
Severe intestinal cramps; severe bathroom issues; severe nausea; pounding headache; and my stomach felt like a horse had kicked me in the gut. Coffee and cigs were a no-go; vaping was a no-go; wanting to lay down and die was a "bring it on".
I kept trying to get up and do something - anything - but nothing was working right. At one point I rushed into the bathroom (thought I was going to heave), caught my toe on something (either broke it or sprained it badly), fell backwards and slammed my shoulder into the door jamb. I crawled into bed. Tried to sleep but couldn't - even though I was exhausted. Tried to read, I couldn't. Got up and tried to vape, I couldn't. Tried to drink some water, I couldn't. Tried to smoke, I couldn't. Tried to eat, I couldn't. Basically I just spent 99% of Satuday laying on my bad, in the bathroom (trying to heave or "other), or slumped in my chair. I spent a lot of time praying for something - anything - to improve. It didn't. Eventually I called it quits and went to bed for the night.
Woke up yesterday morning - repeat of Saturday - (minus the toe and shoulder incident) - except I was able to have a couple of cups of coffee and a couple of cigs. Tried to vape once (the Dutch apple pie) and immediately wanted to heave. That was the end of that. No more vaping for the rest of the day or evening. When the nic cravings got too bad, I had a few puffs of a cig and then put it out. My daughter came wandering in, I told her my tale of woe and she wondered the same thing I was wondering - "Was it the changing of flavors?" It seems that up until I did that, I was doing pretty well - nothing bothersome enough to decide I wasn't going to vape at all.
She suggested that I go back to square one. Stop vaping entirely for a week - or at least until several days had passed without any issues - and if I could afford it, order some more of the cherry cartomizers (from Rick) and when they arrived, use only them for 2 or 3 weeks - no other flavors. I was so miserable at that point, I was agreeable to just about anything.
Woke up this morning, only 2 "bathroom issues" (not as bad as over the weekend), had my coffee, had my cigs with it, and have smoked - rather than vape - all day long. All the other "nastys" seem to be gone, so I'm really leaning towards the idea that it had something to do with the flavorings.
Tomorrow I have to pay all of my bills for this month - will see what's left and then try to order some more of the 26mg cherry cartomizers from EcigBestSave. (Don't want to try the other place where I got the samples just in case their flavorings don't agree with me. Nothing against the company - I just happen to have a very, very sensitive digestive system.)
After I have been symptom-free for a week (maybe less) and I can return to the cherry flavor, I will start all over again - a "second-hand" newbie. Till then, I'm feeling pretty down in the dumps - but so glad I'm not that sick anymore. I could not have taken that for more than a couple of days.
Is this where I get kicked out of the club?
