I really hate having to send emails to the media, but KOB.com aired a story tonight about e-cigarettes. New one on me -- they had a doctor talk about a 19-year-old kid who was in the ICU 2 weeks because of lung infection he got from inhaling "contaminated water" from e-cigarettes. The story on e-cigarettes was bigger than just that, but I couldn't believe the way they spun this one isolated case and made everyone think e-liquid contains contaminated water from China. GRRRR! ::venting done::

A doctor? A medical doctor? reported on a lung infection caused by contaminated water? from an ecig? I presume he managed to keep a straight face when discussing this? (i.e. not consequently falling on the floor laughing his fat off?)

May the force save me from ever having to be treated by *that* doctor!

While reading this, I got déjà-vu. The Doc, if he said such a ridiculous thing at all, probably answered the pestering reporter demanding to know if the ecig could be the culprit, to which he exasperatedly replied with the catch all that anything is possible.
I blame the reporters who demanded a drama story.

The plot thickens ... just heard the promo for the 5 o'clock news and they're doing a follow-up on the story because "Mayor Berry says it's time to do something about those e-cigarettes". Ugg. Stay tuned!

And the follow-up story. Not bad in and of itself. Berry wants e-cigarettes to stop being sold to minors. Well duh. The only problem with this is it will surely turn into more than just this. And they had to go and repeat the false information about "contaminated liquids" again. I guess in addition to not researching their stories, they also don't read their comments or emails.

Ps. He prides himself dor lowering crime in Alberqurque (sp), so let's hope he would be opposed to black market eCigs if they are banned.

I, uhh, kinda sorta mostly posted sarcastically in the comments. It's up to you guys now to bring in the Drexel study, Dr. Farsalinos, CDC update with the real stats, all those stat studies that prove eCigs up, smoking down. Go gettem!


I'll be off in the corner reciting, I will play nice and just stick with scientific facts instead of sarcastic facts that fit as well.

5. Nicotine benefits, etc
